Thursday 15 March – Selective High School Test
Tuesday 20 March – Snail Trail (Stage 3 Fundraiser)
Monday 26 March – P&C Easter Raffle Drawn
Principal’s Message
Canteen Re-Opening
Our school canteen has re-opened! Students flocked to the canteen on Monday and
Tuesday. I spoke to the canteen manager who informed me that most of our students
chose healthy options on the first couple of days.
Thank you to our entire community for electing to move to a leased canteen. Although
early days, this does seem the right decision for MPS in 2018.
P&C Events
This term our P&C are running a number of very exciting events. We have already had the
hot dog day.
In two weeks we will draw the P&C Easter raffle. There are so many eggs that can be won
– chocolate eggs of course. Don’t forget to return your tickets to the office.
We have our K-2 Easter Hat Parade on Thursday 29 March. The P&C will be selling cakes
that have been donated by our families. If you would like to donate some cakes to sell
during the Easter Hat Parade, they would be very gratefully received. Simply bring them to
the COLA on the morning of 29 March.
Kind regards,
Miss Rebecca Webster

100 places are available.
Places will be allocated
on a first come, first
served basis.
Accommodation
Students will stay in comfortable lodges which sleep four to eight students per room. Male and
female students are accommodated in separate rooms. A teacher from our school will stay in a
separate room in the lodge or in a bungalow next to the lodge and will be responsible for student
safety and behaviour overnight.
Meals
Nutritious meals are prepared by qualified catering staff in a commercial kitchen, so your child will
never go hungry. If your child has any special dietary requirements or food allergies, it is very
important that these are listed on the Medical and consent form. You might also like to mention
these needs to your child's teacher before camp. Special diets are provided for medical conditions,
religious beliefs and lifestyle choices.
Behaviour
For everyone's enjoyment of the camp, we expect a good standard of behaviour. Camp rules will
be explained to students on arrival. Children who persistently ignore reasonable requests or
engage in violent behaviour may be removed from the Centre. If this happens, we will phone you
or a nominated contact person to make arrangements for your child to be taken home.
Outdoor safety
Every effort is made to ensure your child's safety and comfort while at camp. Our sunsafe policy
promotes wearing broad-brimmed hats and sunscreen. We also alter programs to minimise sun
exposure during the hottest part of the day.
Personal flotation devices (life jackets) are supplied by the Centre. Covered shoes must be worn
when participating in all water sports, except for swimming.
Accidents or emergencies
In case of emergencies, parents can contact the school office.
Centre staff hold senior first aid accreditations and can administer first aid, if required. If your
child requires medical assistance, they will be taken to the nearest medical centre or hospital
and we will notify you.
VALUE OF THE MONTH: Care Concern for the wellbeing of yourself and others, demonstrating empathy and acting with
compassion.
In school communities, evidence of this value includes:
providing early notice of students, parents and teachers experiencing difficulties,
volunteering to assist in school activities,
programming to actively counter bullying and harassment,
implementing responsive student support systems being in place.
In classrooms, evidence of this value includes:
maintaining friendly relationships,
making constructive and encouraging comment about other people’s work,
listening to others,
modelling skills for positive and caring relationships.
2018 Technology
Dear parent and caregiver,
Students in Stages 2 and 3 are provided with the opportunity to use Infinity One notebooks, iPads and notebooks for use
within the classroom. The opportunities that such devices provide in the areas of student learning are quite significant.
These devices provide constant access to information that is available on the Internet. Also, they are able to be loaded with
various applications (apps) that enhance student learning and increase the ways that students are able to find information
and present their work to peers and teachers.
Previously, students have been encouraged to bring their own personal devices to school. As Minchinbury Public School has
now provided each student in Stage 2 and 3 with a device for use in classrooms, students no longer need to bring personal
devices to school.
Students will be required to complete a form that states the limitations and responsibilities for the use of technology
provided at Minchinbury Public School. Please sign, and have your child sign, the accompanying form.
Yours faithfully
