Historical
The fruit sector in Northern of the state of Minas Gerais started in the 60's, bananas and grapes were the first experiences; The modernizing character of the Jaiba Irrigation Project (70’s), provided great conditions and opportunities to the region to develop the fruit sector; Others public investments in irrigation schemes also contributed to the sector growth(Gorutuba and Lagoa Grande); Since 2002 the fruit sector in Northern of the state of Minas Gerais has been strongly supported by many Institutions.
