DESCRIPTION

As a service arts organization our school provides: Dance Technique (African, Ballet, and Modern), Hip- Hop and Musical Theatre to Elementary, Middle and High school aged students. The Miller School also conducts a dance program that is open to the general public. It services young people in grade levels K – 12, with arts residencies, master classes, lecture demonstrations, and performances. Using various art forms such as dance, music, and theater as educational tools, students have deepened their literacy in dance arts; or gained a social or cultural connection through attending a historical based dance performance; or developed academic and artistic discipline through producing their own culminating arts project. Ultimately, through the teaching of culturally relevant art, we have been successful in providing children with a sense of empowerment through physical, academic or social achievement.
