Wear PPE during the welding time

For welding always wear the welding mask to prevent face from getting burn

Do not open the mask when we are doing the welding because it get hu

    eyes.

If the MI welding machine occurs any problem immediately report t

    technician.

Do not play around with the MI welding machine!s no""le because it might

    a spark.

If one of our group mate is doing the work another member need to stand b

    the yellow line.

#lways wear the welding glove before start to weld any iron.

$se the rivet blacksmith tong the hot welded iron to prevent the glove

    burning

Do not put the hot welded iron on the table because it can damage the tab

    might hurt someone

Do not hold the hot welded iron without cooling it down by submerging it in

water because it might be hot.

    6 P(,ed)e:

Firstly, wear all the safety equipments before proceeding to the welding session.

Listen carefully to the briefing of the lab technician about the use of MIG welding machine.

bser!e carefully when the lab technician is doing the welding session so that it will easy for uswhen we are doing it.

nce the lab technician is done with the briefing we will be gi!en a piece of used iron platefor us to train oursel!es.

nce the training session is done we can proceed to our work piece.

Make sure the iron that comes out from the no""les is not too long, if it is too long than use the cutte

to cut it and make it short.

The MIG welding machine will only works when a button is pressed rapidly and the iron rod thatcomes out from it needs to be in contact with the metal plate.

#e will be gi!en a rectangle metal plate and are told to make two straight lines on the metal plateusing the MIG welding machine.

nce we ha!e done making two lines on the metal plate that ha!e been told using the MIG weldingmachine, using the ri!et blacksmith tong to carry the metal plate to cool it down by submerging it intothe water.

nce it is fully cooled down using the !ice tighten the metal plate and start to brush it.

$fter brushing it properly using a blacksmith hammer peel of the small piece of welded on the metalplate.

nce it is done show the work piece to the lecturer.

Lastly, clean up the entire premises.

MIG welders consist of a handle with a trigger controlling a wire feed, feeding the wire from a

spool to the weld %oint. The wire is similar to an endless bicycle brake cable. The wire runs

through the liner, which also has a gas feeding through the same cable to the point of arc,

which protects the weld from the air.

MIG welding is most commonly used in fabrication shops where production is high, and the

wind blowing away your gas shielding is unlikely.

MIG weld welding requires three things, electricity to produce heat, an electrode to fill the%oint, and shielding gas to protect the weld from the air. MIG welding is done using a !ery

small electrode that is fed continuously, while the operator controls the amount of weld being

done. In some cases when a robot takes o!er this process, it becomes automatic welding.

MIG welding unlike most other welding processes has one standard !oltage type and polarity

type. The !oltage used is &'( direct current, much like the current in a car battery. &irect

current flows in one direction, from the negati!e )*+ to the positi!e )+.

The polarity used is also standard and that is &'( electrode )+ positi!e. This means that the

handle is the positi!e side of the circuit, or it may be said, the electricity flows from the metal

    in to the welding handle.

#hen choosing the proper MIG wire or electrode you need to match the type of wire to the type of m

being welded. -ome other considerations are the type of transfer, position to be welded, and resista

abrasion. Most of the times when working as a welder the welding engineers specify the weld si"e a

    electrode type to be used.

The most common wire used for welding carbon steel is / 01-*2. In some cases you can weld two

different metals together. $n e3ample of this is welding 415 stainless steel to $42 carbon steel usin

electrode made of 416 stainless steel 7/ 416L8.

Typical MIG welding electrodes are a solid wire ranging from a thickness of .194 to .15:. -ome are m

    thicker for hea!y industrial applications.

Finally% I have learned how to use the MI weldingmachine properly and correctly without giving anyproblem. &he MI welding machine is not di'cult tooperate all we have to do to get a perfect lining andthickness when we are welding an iron or a metal plateis that we have to keep in contact with the metal plateand the no""le. We also need to move the no""le slowly

so that we will get a perfect turn out.
