Donations of Preloved Clothing We are always on the look out for any preloved school uniforms—girls summer dresses for our Second Hand Clothing Pool.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

We are almost at the home stretch! Staff and children have been very busy with some rehearsals held last Thursday and Friday for tonight’s Presentation Evening. I am looking forward to this celebration and acknowledgement of some of our finest students and their efforts throughout 2018. The formalities will commence at 7:00pm, so I would ask that you and your child are seated by 6:50pm. I also remind you that while this celebration is taking place at the Leagues Club, it is still a Department of Education official event and alcohol must not be brought into the auditorium.

Representative Assemblies will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. Infant’s assembly will commence at 2:15pm on Tuesday afternoon, while Primary will take place from 2:15pm on Wednesday afternoon. Parents and friends are most welcome to attend either of these assemblies also.

Teachers have been busy working on End of Semester Student Reports for many weeks now. I have had the privilege of reading over the achievements, and areas for improvement, for all students over the last week and am quite impressed with the teacher’s comments. They show that the teachers at Middleton PS know your students and know them well. Student reports will be sent home on Thursday. If you wish to discuss your child’s report with their teacher, please feel free to request a suitable appointment time before school finishes for the year.

The Parent Helpers afternoon tea will be held on Thursday afternoon, straight after our regular assembly. At 5:00pm the playground should get quite colourful when the P&C commence their Colour Fun Run. The new playground equipment is also being installed this week, and if all goes to plan, you might even be able to try it out!

A reminder that the final date for students and staff this year is Wednesday, 19 December 2018. School will resume for staff and the office will reopen on Tuesday, 29 January 2019. Mr Simes will remain on leave during Term 1 and I look forward to seeing all students in Years 1 to 6 return on Wednesday, 30 January 2019. Our new Kindergarten enrolments will take part in the Best Start Assessment from that date also, with their first full school day being Monday, 4 February 2019.

I don’t think we can squeeze too much more into this week, so have a great one.

Paul Principal (Rlg)

Thought for the week “Your best teacher is your last mistake.” Ralph Nader

PRIMARY SPORT Class sport this week for primary students.

INTENSIVE SWIMMING Intensive swimming will continue everyday for the rest of this week. Please remember students who are participating will need to bring their swimming gear to school everyday.

SCHOOL CHOIR PERFORMANCES Last night we had six very brave children stand on the stage and sing at Carols in the Park. The children sang a song based on Beethoven's 9th symphony, with lyrics written especially for them. They were nervous when they saw how many people were in the audience but I was very proud of them for singing out so well. Of course their behaviour was excellent, they were great ambassadors for our school.

The children have been invited to sing again this week, at Rosedurnate on Thursday. We will need some help with transport. The children will receive a note with the details.
