    Every Soul a Starby Wendy MassGrade 5 to 8/lexile 740

    the mysteries of astronomy fascinating in this character driven tale focusing on the connections

    all of us, no matter our differences, may make if we look to new horizons.

    Woods Runnerby Gary Paulsen

    Grade 5 to 8/lexile 780

    This book by noted author Gary Paulsen is a 2010 Parents Choice award winner and YALSA Best

    Books for Young Adults 2011 title. Samuel leads one through the woods with deft and speed,

    hes on a one-man mission to rescue his parents from the British and the Indians. Its 1776 and

    his fellow townsmen have been slaughtered, now Samuel survives only by his knife and his wit.

    Mockingjayby Suzanne CollinsGrade 7 and up/lexile 800

    Mockingjayis the final book in the hugely popular Hunger Games series for young adults. Our

    hero Katniss has a battle before her against the evil capital but she doesnt know whom she can

    trust. Her fight for life and for the lives of those around her continues.

    Paranormalcyby Kiersten WhiteGrade 6 and up/lexile 580

    Evie wants to be normal; unfortunately, she might not get the chance. So far, things are

    anything but normal for her and the handsome faerie she has a crush on, and her best friend (a

    mermaid)--Evie must now attempt to save herself and the other paranormals from the evil

    forces killing people around the world.

    Matt is haunted by the home he left behind in Vietnam. He was rescued during a battle in the

    Vietnam War, leaving behind his mother and injured brother. He has feelings of homesickness

    and inner conflict because now hes in a safe loving home in the USA far from the turmoil in

    Vietnam. Matts moving story is written in simple yet evocative free verse.

    Wild Things by Clay CarmichaelGrade 5 and up/lexile 890

    Zoe goes to live with her quirky Uncle who is both a sculptor and a doctor after her mother

    passes away. This small town story has heart, readers learn about Zoes troubles and hear her

    voice in observations she makes about the feral cat that lives under the front porch. Readerswill relate to Zoes strong sense of independence and her fiery personality.
