1 About MIDAT-WINMIDAT-WIN is a software package for data processing and data ex-change between the data acquisition systems MAK 3001/3002, ABO-DAT-S on the milk collecting truck,the laboratory and the office softwareof the dairy, based on an open and standardized file format.MIDAT-WIN automatically processes the data and makes them availableto host applications and/or receives data from host applications.Moreover, MIDAT-WIN makes possible the manual processing of thedata.

Program optionsApart from its basic function, there are several optional program modulesfor MIDAT-WIN.These program options differ with regard to• the kind of data exchange with the trucks,• the formats for the data exchange• the editability of data.

Data exchange with milk collecting trucksMIDAT-WIN exchanges data with the truck systems MAK 3002, MAK3001 and ABODAT-S via the periphery and the data formats mentionedbelow.

2 Installation and programstartSystem requirements• PC: processor 80486, 500 MHz or higher• 17“-colour monitor, minimum resolution 800x600 pixel• at least 128 MB of RAM• about 20 MB of free hard disk space• Operating system: Windows 95/98/2000/NT/XP• A mouse or a trackball is required for the operation• A CD-ROM drive is required for the installation of the program• For the connection of semiconductor cartridge writing/reading de-

vices, a free RS 232 connection on the PC is required ( by means ofa commercial USB converter, the connection is also possible via anUSB interface)

InstallationFor the setup and operation of MIDAT-WIN it is taken for granted that youhave basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and their operatingprinciples.

The program is delivered on a CD-ROM.Terminate all running Windows applications.Put the CD-ROM into the appropriate drive.If the Autostart option of the CD-ROM drive is selected, the installationstarts automatically. Otherweise carry out the „Setup.exe“ program on theCD-ROM.Follow the instructions on the screen.

During the installation, not only the program file, but all subdirectories re-quired for the complete data management are generated in the folder youhave created.After the installation, the programs „Midat“ und „ASSISTANT“ are in theprogram group MIDAT-WIN.

The setup for the data transfer program (RTM, WTM or PTM) must bestartet manually. There is a folder with the appropriate name on CD-ROM.

Copy protection: When starting the program for the first time you areasked to enter a licence code. You will receive the licence code byBARTEC after sending serial number and product code.

Program startTo start the program, click [Start], select „MIDAT-WIN“ on the „Pro-grams“ menu and select the „MIDAT-WIN“ program.

The main menu of the program is displayed.

In the lower area of the window, you find the name or the number of yourcompany, the serial number of the software and the key of the programoptions included in your version.

3 ConfigurationAfter having installed and first started, you have to configure the programso that it meets your individual working conditions.

3.1 DirectoriesBy configurating the directories, you make sure

• that all data received either from the truck or from the host applicationare deposited in the directory accessed by MIDAT-WIN,

• that MIDAT-WIN deposits all data in the directories accessed by theappropriate host applications.

Click „Directories” on the „File“ menu.

After the first program start, the paths are set to the standard directories.The standard directories are created at the first program start.

To set the path to another directory, click the „choose dir“ button. In thewindow that is displayed you can select the directory. Click the directoryand click [OK] to close the window. The path to the selected directory isentered.If you want to open the selected directory, click the button on the right.

After entering the path settings, click [close] to terminate this function.

The network directories are periodically checked on output files fortransfer.Click [Start_data_transfer_manually] to trigger this check manually.

3.1.1 Index card „from/to truck“On the first index card, there are three further index cards, on which youcan set the paths for MIDAT working directories, as described above.

Raw data

Enter the path to the directory in which all data coming from the truck(tour data) are deposited.

Enter the path to the directory in which all data coming from the truck aredeposited as a backup, if the option use backup is selected.Furthermore, you can specify how many files remain stored in this direc-tory. As soon as the preset number is reached, the oldest files are over-written unless they have been created on the current day.A separate backup directory can be generated for each day. When thereis a date change, the directory is created as a subdirectory in the backupdirectory. The data from the backup directory are moved into the subdi-rectory. The backup directory is named after the current date, for exam-ple 11.6.2002.SAV.

If a network directory is used for backup, select this option and enter thepath to the network directory. You can also create a separate backup di-rectory for each day here.If you select the options use backup and use network directory, the tourdata is stored in the backup directory and additionally copied to the net-work directory.

Click [use_backup_data] to open a window where you can select thebackup directory.

After confirming the directory you can define the period for which thebackup data should be taken over.

Click [Restore_backup-data] to read the detected tour files once moreafter a security query.

Order to truck

Enter the path to the directory in which all data to be transmitted to thetruck are deposited.If RTM, WTM, PTM-Milk is used for the data transmission to the truck, thesame path to the order data has to be set there.

3.1.2 Index card „to Host“

Three output directoriesOn three index cards, you set the paths to three output directories. Inthese directories, output files accessed by the appropriate host applica-tions are deposited.The output files can be built from different data sets (see 3.2.1 Output 1(2, 3)).

Transfer directoryThe data from the output directories can be transferred to network direc-tories if the host applications access them. The network directories mustalready exist. They are only selected here.Select the appropriate check box and set the path to the directory in thelower line.By means of the second check box you can decide if the data is deletedfrom the output directory after they have been transferred to the networkdirectory. If this box is not selected, you have to delete old data from thisdirectory manually from time to time.

3.1.3 Index card „from Host“

On this index card, you enter the path to the directory in which the hostapplications deposit data (order data, truck data, driver and supplier data,lab data, tour schedule).

3.2 Data formatBy configurating the data formats, you make sure• that all host applications receive / supply the data in the format re-

quired for further processing in the appropriate software,• that the MIDAT-WIN output directories include the data required by

the host applications which access these directories.

In the following window you can configurate the data structure for all inputand output directories as required by your host applications.

Click the buttons on the right border of the window (output 1...MRK-order)to select the file whose structure you would like to process.There are different editing possibilities for the individual files.Click [Close] to quit the window.

3.2.1 Output format 1 (2, 3)Use the output formats 1...3 to define the structure of the files which aredeposited in the output directories 1...3.

The following formats are available for these data:

The further editing possibilities depend on the format selected here.If you select „Off”, no output file is created.

TDL-Format With theTDL format, the following format assignments are possible:

DBF / DBU : dBase III-formatSDF : Text file with fixed field length + header fileSDC : Textfile without fixed field length + header file

(fields are separated by commas)Logfiles with ODC : Logfiles are issued with operating data (for ex-

ample kilometers, breaks, driving time), if thesedata is acquired (enhanced truck logfile, servesas data interface to other programs).

The prefixes of the files according to the TDLnaming convention are displayed.

Depending on whether you use short or long TDL field names, you selectthe appropriate option.

Furthermore, you can change the file name (HMxxxxxx for dairy data orHLxxxxxx for lab data).

Field structureThe field „File contents” displays the name of the file in which the fields tobe issued are stored.By selecting the appropriate fields, you define which data should actuallybe in the individual files.

Click the button [Fields].A window with a selection list appears (on the right); you can select thefields which should be included in the output file.„Mandatory fields“ are preset in the output file.

To insert a field in the output file, select it in the selection list. The markedfield will be inserted into the output file if you click the button above theselection list.You can also insert a field in the output file if you double-click the field inthe selection list.

To delete a field from the output file, mark it and click the „delete line”button (rubbish bin).

The field length and the number of digits behind the comma can bechanged. Mark the appropriate field. To change the field length, right-click the first column (=field-length, two digits). In the following windowyou can define the field length.

In the same way, you can define the number of digits behind the comma.This detail is only relevant for some fields.Mark the appropriate field. To change the number of digits behind thecomma, right-click the second column (=digits behind the comma, onedigit).

In the following window you can define the number of digits behind thecomma.

In date and time fields, the specification of the digits behind the comma isused for the definition of the output format:

You can change the order of the fields by „drag and drop”: Click the lineof the field that you would like to displace. Press the mouse button anddrag the mouse cursor to the desired position. When you release themouse button, the field is deleted at its previous position and is insertedbefore the position marked at present.

The modifications that have been carried out are only effective if you click[Close] to quit the window.If you click [Cancel] to quit the window, the modifications that have beencarried out will be rejected; the status before the window was opened willbe restored.

If you click the printer symbol, a print preview of the field description isdisplayed.By means of the buttons you can change the size of the view, browse, setup the printer, print the field description, save as file and open a file.

PRF-Format You can edit the file prefix and the file name extension for the PRF for-mat.Select the check boxes (quantity data, sampling data, sampling box tem-perature) to define the contents of the file.Moreover, you can use further check boxes to select the output of addi-tional sets (disturbance set 51, time set 52, calibration set 53 and pa-rameter sets 54, 55, 56, 57, 58). In the PRF file, sets of 1 (tour start set)and sets of 3 (tour end set) are always issued. The selected data sets areissued additionally.

You can use four check boxes to decide if the data is finished with CR(carriage return) and if the line is terminated with a LF(linefeed) and ifeach tour is stored in a separate file or if all tour data for one day aresummarized in one file.

User-defined text fileApart from the TDL and PRF formats, the data can also be issued as textfile.You can also edit the file prefix and the file name extension here.You have to design the structure of the text file according to the require-ments of the processing software.Example: If you need a fixed field length, select this check box and definewhich character the numeral fields and text fields have to be filled upwith.Further check boxes serve to define the character which separates thefields, if texts are in quotation marks, if lines are terminated with „carriagereturn” and „linefeed”, and if the comma has to be shown in numericfields.

The tour data of one day can be summarized in one file. Select the ap-propriate check box.

Under „mutated vowel” you can define the character font for the output. Ifthe data evaluation takes place in a Windows program, select „Windows(ANSI)“. For a processing with DOS programs, select „DOS (ASCII)“.

The calculation type for the checksum is also defined by the processingsoftware. Select the appropriate calculation type in the „Checksum“ field.

Field structureYou have to decide on your own which data sets should be included inthe text file.

Click the button [Fields].

In the following window you can select the data sets for the text file. Onlythe data sets selected with a tick are issued.

You can define the set identifier in the two-digit column after the checkbox for the set selection.Mark the line with the left mouse button. Right-click the set code. Enterthe set code for the selected data set in the „Set identifier“ window.

In the next (one-digit) column, the number of digits of the set identifier isdefined. Right-click the number of digits. In the „Set identifier“ window,enter the number of digits for the set identifier.

You can freely define the contents of the data sets.Mark the data set and click [Define].

The window displays a selection list on the right half of the window. Fromthis list, you can select the fields which the data set selected at presentshould include (see p. 3-10).

MPR-DFÜ-formatIf you use the MPR-DFÜ-set as output format, the definition of the text filefor this output directory will be overwritten by it. After you have selectedthis format, the appropriate query is displayed. If you click [No], the se-lection is ineffective.If you use the MPR-DFÜ format, you can also edit the file prefix and thefile name extension.

3.2.2 Data from truckYou can adapt the composition of the tour data to the appropriate re-quirements.

Click [Fields]. In the following window you can edit the structure of thedata delivered back from the truck (mask of tour data). The editing isanalog to the editing of the field structure of the output formats (s. 3-10).

The fixed structure of the tour data is only used after the appropriate in-formation has been transferred to the truck (s. 6.1.create field structure oftour data).

3.2.3 Driver fileTo adjust the field structure of the driver file in MIDAT-WIN to the presentstructure of the driver file, you can edit it accordingly.

Click the button [Fields].

By selecting the appropriate check box, you can decide which fields areused in the driver file.

3.2.4 Truck fileThe editing of the structure of the truck file is carried out analogous to thedriver file.

3.2.6 Order from HOSTThe order file is created by the appropriate host application and trans-ferred to the appropriate directory for MIDAT-WIN.The field structure of the output file of MIDAT-WIN has to correspond tothe field structure of the order file coming from the host application.

The order from host has to be in the TDL format (DBF, SDF, SDC).

Specify if the complete tour schedule or only laboratory data should betransferred.Depending on the requirements of your application, you can define thetreatment of the digits behind the comma in numerical fields.

3.2.7 TDL order to truckThe structure of the order file transferred in TDL format from MIDAT-WINto the MAK 3002 system is defined here.

3.2.8 PRF orderThe structure of the order file transferred in PRF format from MIDAT-WINto the MAK 3001 system is defined here.

You can generate a definition for the output of the print instruction on theprinter and save it as „header definition file MTH“.Click [Edit]. In the following window you can define the header.

Click one of the frame symbols in the upper part of the window. The iconis displayed in the lower part of the window. Create the frame by stringingtogether the appropriate symbols. The space within the outer frame linesis filled up with text or a blank character. Take into account the number ofdigits for entered parameters.

Field structureClick [Fields].A window is opened in which the available text fields can be selected.They can be entered as parameters in the bonfile. The texts are issuedonce for each supplier. Up to 6 lab data can be isssued for each supplier(U, V, W, X, Y, Z).

You can define the exact contents of the text fields.Mark the text field name and click [Define].A window displays a selection list of fields which are available for the out-put in the selected text field (right). The left window displays the fieldsavailable in the selected text field in the output file.

3.2.9 MRK orderYou can define the order format for trucks using Markerbyte. For usingthis format please consult BARTEC.

In the field „Supplier-information at limit overrange”, you can type the textwhich the supplier shall receive if certain laboratory data have been ex-ceeded (max. 25 characters), for example: Limit overrange !

3.3 OptionsYou can use the options to carry out diverse settings for the data man-agement.

Click „Options“ on the „File“ menu.

In the following window you can carry out the settings.

You can read configuration filesinto the program. After you have clicked this button, there is themessage that the present configuration will be overwritten. 3.7 Printer reading unitTo open the menu of the printer reading unit, click the button in the mainmenu of MIDAT-WIN

or click „printer-reading-unit " in the„Cartridge" menu.

This menu serves to configure the data transfer and to transfer the databy means of the printer reading unit (type 6862-1/-2/-3 or type 6839-6/7)in the system MAK 3001.

3.7.1 SettingsUnder „Settings“ you select the COM-Port for the serial interface and setthe interface parameters (baudrate, parity, data bits) The parameters onthe PC and on the printer reading unit must be identical!If you select a COM-port that is not available, there will be a red errormessage. Select another COM-Port.

If you select the option „show info during data transfer“, the window„transfer“ is displayed during the data transfer.

Select the check box ”reading of sampling cassettes allowed” to permitthe reading of sampling cartridges.

If a cartridge has been put into the selected shaft (selection switch „shaft1“ or „shaft 2“) and has been recognized by the printer reading unit, thedevice version and the cartridge data is displayed.

If instead of the version number the message „no device found“ is dis-played, check the connection of the printer reading unit to the PC, thepower supply and the settings of the printer reading unit.

3.7.2 ReadWhen the automatic option is not selected, the reading will be carried outif you select the shaft in which the cartridge is and click [Read].

3.7.3 Read binaryFor diagnosis purposes, you can make a copy of the cartridge. Click[read_binary]. Now you can decide if a text file should be created in-stead of the binary copy.

A file cas.bin is generated for the binary copy, a file cas.txt is generated fora text file. It can be examined by means of a text editor.Select a directory for the file.

At first you define the format type.

If a cartridge formatted for phone data is in shaft II of the printer readingunit, files read by a cartridge in shaft I are transferred to the cartridge inshaft II. During this time (1..2 minutes) the printer reading unit is notavailable. MIDAT-WIN reacts as if no printer reading unit were con-nected.If the option „read new data automatically“ is selected, the data transferfrom cartridge II takes place as soon as new data is detected there.

3.8 SSM cartridge stationTo open the menu of the SSM cartidge station, click the button in themain menu of MIDAT-WIN

Automatic Read new cassette automaticallyYou define if the data should be acquired automatically. In this casethe program recognizes if a cartridge is in the shaft and if it containsdata.

If the option „read new data automatically“ is se-lected, a blinking control lamp is displayed on thebutton [SSM_cartridge_station].

Write order after reading automaticallyWith this check box you can define if order data is automaticlly writ-ten on the cartridge after reading.

show info during data transferIf you select the option „show info during data transfer“, the „transfer”window is opened during the data transfer.

Create order You can decide if the order data is always created from the databasebefore writing or if the transferred order data is used until new ones arecreated.

Write order In TDL format, orders can also be written on the tour (data) cartridge. Ifyou decide to write the orders to an order-cartridge a message will askedyou to replace the cartridge.

Read sampling cassette If you select the check box ”Reading of sampling cassette allowed”, youpermit the reading of sampling cartridges.

3.8.2 ReadIf a cartridge has been put into the shaft and has been recognized, theprogram displays the cartridge data and the cartridge format.

The reading of the cartridge takes place automatically or it is started ifyou click [Read].If the cartridge has already been read, the [Read] button is not available.

4 Edit dataSeveral checking and editing functions are available for the data depos-ited in the MIDAT database.

4.1 Enter passwordFor several program options, especially for options which cause changesin the data stock, the entry of a password is required. Before the appro-priate entries, the program asks you to enter the password unless thepassword has already been entered.

Without regard to the present workingsituation you can enter the password ifyou click „Enter password“ on the „File“menu.

In the following window you canenter the password.

At delivery of the program, the password is „bartec“.

If the valid password has been entered, atick is displayed before the menu item„Enter password“ .If you want to cancel the password entry,click this menu item. The tick is removed.After that, the password protection is ac-tive again.

Click „All“ or „marked“ to decide if all data should bedisplayed or if only the marked data should be dis-played. Right-click an entry in the column„Tour“ to display a selection menu.

You can start the print preview of the order data of the selected tour andstart the print.The second option allows you to mark a tour as new. It will be marked bya red tick instead of a green one.So you can point to repeat the output ofchanged order data (e.g. other lab data or new supplier).

Click [show_protocol] to open a window which displays the status of theorder data.

The status is checked cyclically and the display is updated accordingly.Click [Scan] to start the status check manually. The protocol is updated.

From the existing tour data, you can create the files which will be deliv-ered back to the supplier on the next tour (=„order data“).For doing this, click [create].If the green tick appears in the status column (S), the order files havebeen created.

4.4 Tour designTo open the tour design tables, click [Tour_design] in the order dataview.

4.4.1 Select truckTo plan a tour for a truck, select the appropriate truck under „order data“in the column „Truck“ .If you want to plan a tour that isn´t included in this column, click [Trucks]in the right window half. All available trucks are listed here.A truck is taken over into the column „Truck“ at the order data if you dou-ble-click the line with the truck number in the truck list or if you click anyfield in this line and drag and drop it into the column „Truck”.

4.4.3 Edit tourYou can edit the supplier list for the tour.

Change order of suppliersYou can change the order of suppliers within a tour as you like. Click asupplier number in the column „supplier“ , drag and drop it to the positionin the column before which the number should be inserted.

Delete supplier numberMark a supplier number and press the [del] key. After you have con-firmed the security query, the supplier number is deleted from the tour.

Add supplier numberMark the tour for the selected truck and click [Suppliers] in the rightwindow half. All suppliers are listed here.Double-click or drag and drop to select a supplier number and insert it inthe supplier list of the marked tour. The supplier list is at first inserted atthe end of the list; from here you can displace it to the position you want.

4.4.4 Create new tourIf you want to create a new tour without resorting to the existing tours,click [Tour-proposal] under „Tour design“, click a line in the tour list undpress the [insert] key. A new line is inserted in front of the marked line.Enter tour number and tour name.If the last field of the tour list is marked, you can also add a new line bymeans of the tab key.The new line is marked with an asterisk.You can assign the new tour, which is still empty, to a truck and then in-sert supplier numbers.

4.5 Data to hostThe tour data delivered by the truck are processed by MIDAT-WIN ac-cording to the defined output formats (s. 3.2) and supplied to the host ap-plications as a file in the defined output directories. If you have selectedthe option „generate tour data to host automatically“ , the output file iscreated automatically (s. 3.3 options).

If the tour data is not transferred automatically to the host, click [Create]to transfer it to the host.

Column S displays the status of the tour data::

Red container: new tour data, data file for output directorynot created yet.

black container: tour data which have already been issuedand should be issued once more.

In the columns 1, 2 and 3 behind the column S, the processing status ofthe data in the three output directories is marked:

After the creation of the file for the host application, the entries are de-leted from the list if „Clear send buffer after creating automatically“ is se-lected.After entering the password, you can delete tours from the list. If you click check box „Clear sendbuffer after creating automatically“, thesendbuffer is deleted automatically after the order data have been cre-ated.

4.6 Tour journalThe tour journal provides a summary of all recorded tours. You can ex-amine and print either the complete journal or individual tour data.

Click „Tour journal“ on the „Tour data“ menu

The window „Tour journal“ is opened.The recorded data of the tours is displayed in the table.

For the print functions, tours have to be marked. Click the appropriateline. To mark several tours, click them and press the [Ctrl] key at thesame time.

In the following window you can restrict the list by entering a numberrange and a date range.

You can define the print option that a new page should be started foreach supplier.

5 DatabaseMIDAT-WIN administrates several databases. Access via the „Database“menu.

You can also access the supplier database, the driver database and thetruck database via the appropriate buttons in the main window of the pro-gram.

For all databases, the quantity of data sets is virtually unlimited (maxi-mum size: 2GB). In actual practice, only the available memory space hasa limiting effect.

You can edit the databases by making entries in the individual table fieldsor by changing the existing entries.

All database windows contain identical buttons:

Print preview and trigger the print

Delete the data base entries (only after passwordentry)

Close the database window

The buttons in the navigation bar have the following meaning:

5.1 Supplier databaseIn the supplier database, all supplier data recorded with the tour data isautomatically stored.

5.4 Take over lab dataYou can take over laboratory data (supplier numbers and appropriateanalysis data) and add them to the existing tour schedules.

Click „Lab data“ on the „Database“ menu.

If there are lab data, they are read in automatically and assigned to theappropriate suppliers in the tour schedule file.

Click [Use] to assign the displayed backup file once more to the tourschedule.

5.5 Longterm memoryClick „longterm memory“ on the „Database“menu.

A comfortable filter function is available for the evaluation of the longtermmemory.

Click [Read] to open the file selection.

You can select the file which contains the longterm memory. If you click[open], the selected file is read and the data is displayed.

FiltersUnder Date you can enter a start date and an end date, and under Sup-plier no. you can enter the first and the last number that should be dis-played.Instead of a manual entry, you can also drag and drop a date or a sup-plier number into the appropriate fields for the filter settings.

SortingYou can sort the table in ascending order according to supplier number oraccording to date. Click the appropriate column heading.

Click [Reset] to reset the filter settings, i.e. the minimum and maximumvalue is inserted. This setting takes place automatically after each read-ing of a longterm memory.

After entering the new values for the filter, click [use_filter]. The newformatting of the table takes place.

Click [Filter_OFF] to turn off the filter function, i.e. regardless of the en-tered filter value, all data in the table are displayed.

Click [Preview] to open the print preview of the table.

Click [print] to start the printing of the table.

5.6 Export databaseYou can export the complete database into another directory. This optionis password-protected.

Click „export database“ on the „database“menu.

After the security query and the password entry, you can look for thefolder in which the there should be a database backup. The „SAVE“folder is offered as standard folder. The database backup is usually car-ried out here.

5.7 Import databaseYou can import the backup copy of a database. The current database isoverwritten. This option is password-protected.

After the security query and the password entry, you can look for thefolder in which there should be a database backup. The „SAVE“ folder isoffered as standard. The database backup is usually carried out here.

5.8 Status checkYou can check the status of the databasesany time.Click „state“ on the „database“ menu.

The window „database verification“ is opened.

The status of the databases is automatically checked after certain peri-ods. In the „database verification” window, the result of this check is dis-played by two check boxes before each line.A tick in the first check box means that the database has already beencompressed.A tick in the second check box means that no data which can´t be as-signed have been found.

For checking purposes, you can reset the status display by clicking thecheck box. The tick disappears. In the new checking cycle, the tick ap-pears again after some seconds.Click [Reset] to delete all ticks in the second check box. By doing this,you manually trigger a database check. If data sets without valid links arefound, they are deleted. Potential database faults can be remedied bythis.

If tour data is deleted, at first only the actual tour file is deleted. All otherdata referring to this tour are deleted in a deleting procedure in the back-ground. The files to be deleted get a delete mark. They are actually de-leted during the compression.The compression is carried out automatically or manually.The databases are compressed automatically when the option for datacompression is selected (s. 3.3).

Regardless of the fact if the databases are compressed automatically,you can trigger the compression by clicking [Compression].Before every compression (manual or automatic) the following messageis displayed.

During the compression, it is not possible to access the databases. Ifnecessary, you can prevent the start of the compression within a minuteby clicking [Cancel_compression].The compression can be triggered manually any time later, or it takesplace automatically at the next date change.

5.9 Check on lost eventsOn the „database“ menu, there is another di-agnosis function which you can use to look fortours without supplier data.Click „check on lost events“ on the „database“menu.

Click [Test] in the following window. If a tour without supplier data isfound, it is displayed in this window.

The individual supplier quantities for the tours have been lost. They canonly be read from the longterm memory of the appropriate truck.

5.10 Regenerate index filesDue to losses of data, for example after a „computer crash”, there may befaults in the databases.If MIDAT-WIN displays the message „Index fault“ during the program run,you can regenerate the index files in the databases.

Click „regenerate index files” on the „data-base” menu.It is possible to access this function withoutpassword entry.You can also regenerate the index files bymeans of the „Assistant“ tool (s. 7.2).

5.11 Erase tour dataTo erase the stored tour data, click „erase tourdata“ on the „database“ menu.This option is password-protected.

After you have confirmed the security query, all tour data is deleted ir-revocably.

6 Extras6.1 Additional files for 3002-systems

For service purposes, it is possible to generate additional files for 3002trucks.

Click „Additional files for 3002-systms“ on the „Extras“ menu .

You can define if the selection should apply for all trucks or only for onetruck, which has to be marked in the truck list.Under „Action” select the files that should be transferred to the truck.

6.2 Restore damaged PRF filesIf PRF files are damaged, for example due to faults during the reading ofthe printer reading unit, the message „damaged PRF files“ is displayed inthe main window of MIDAT-WIN.To display the damaged files, click this message or click „restore dam-aged PRF files“ on the „Extras“ menu.

After that, a window with the list of damaged files is opened.

Mark the file you would like to edit and click [Edit] or double-click thefile. The file is opened in the editing window.

Check the correctness of the entries by means of the existing data andmodify them if necessary.

Then click .The checksum is calculated once more and the data set is identified ascorrect.

6.3 Memory display To check the memory available atpresent, click „memory display“ on the„Extras“ menu.

If the available capacity in RAM is less than 10% is this window automati-cally displayed. The available capacity in % is marked red then.

A too less capacity in RAM can cause trouble when working with MIDAT-WIN. You must care for more RAM capacity in this case (as immediateactions you can close other running programmes, close and restart MI-DAT-WIN, shut down and restart PC).

7 Assistant„Assistant“ is an utility which has mainly service purposes.Only the functions which may be important for the user are explainedhere.You can start „Assistant“ only if MIDAT-WIN is not running!To start the program, click [Start], select „MIDAT-WIN” under „pro-grams”, and click the „ASSISTANT“ program“.

7.1 Use original databaseTo use this function, you have to enter the password.If your database is completely or partly damaged and faults occur duringthe program run, you can use the original database, i.e. the status afterthe new installation is restored. You can´t access the data stock createdup to now, but the program runs correctly again.

7.3 Regenerate database

If presumably there are faults in one database or in several databases,you can regenerate these databases.Select the appropriate database from the list in the „select table” field.

Click [Verify] to check the selected database.

If you click [Rebuild], the selected database is repaired and the data isrestored as far as possible.

Click [Rebuld_all_tables] to regenerate all existing databases.

7.4 Export to dBase III You can convert the databases „tour data“, „supplier data“, „quantitydata“, „sample data“ and „master data“ into dBase III format.The databases can be processed in database applications which use thedBase III format.Databases in the dBase III format can´t be read again in MIDAT-WIN.

After export the databases are displayed on a white background.
