Christmas Themed Casual Clothes Day
Yesterday students came to school in their
Christmas clothes to help fundraise for the
Noah’s Ark float for the Pt Pirie Christmas
Pagent. All proceeds are going to help
decorate the float and
buy promotional items
to give out. A big thank
you from the Christmas
Pageant Committee to
Mrs. Freer and the SRC
students for coordinating
the fundraiser.
From the Principal
Dear Families,
Sometimes in the busy-ness of life we can find we lose focus, and lose sight of the main
purpose.
In talking to various students about their progress, their challenges, and their frustrations I
realise that we may at times forget to keep the ‘main thing’ as the main thing.
A number of influential leaders of education are well known for reminding teachers that
learning is the ‘main thing’. Whatever else we are doing, we should remember that we
are all about good learning.
You may have noticed a big bright new art piece above the Chapel room. If you haven’t
had time to see it, please do come in and have a look.
It has been prepared by some of our senior art students, and has a lesser known verse
from 2 Corinthians 13:11 emblazoned across it.
“Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the
God of love and peace will be with you.” (2 Corinthians 13:11)
These words were written by the Apostle Paul to the young Church at Corinth, Greece;
and were part of his sign – off statement for the letter. It was the space for his last few
words to leave them with before sending the parchment with the courier. He wrote short,
clear, urgent words – to summarise what he wanted to leave them with.

Be Joyful. It’s odd to see it as a command, but there it is. Lift your spirits. Look up. Cheer up. Get up. Get going. Be positive.
Look for things to be happy about.
Grow to Maturity. See you situation as something to grow through. Be wise. Be adult. Be responsible. Step up and do what
needs to be done, and stop whining and blaming others.
Encourage each other. Look for good in others. Tell them how much you appreciate them. Cheer them up. Help them to
also be joyful and mature. Be someone who lifts the spirits of those around you.
Live in Harmony and Peace. Work hard to get along with others. Forgive easily. Be a peacemaker. Be an agent of
econciliation. Don’t stir up trouble, but defuse tense situations. Get help when you need it.
The Apostle Paul was very wise. He clearly knew what communities need to flourish and prosper.
I pray these words will define who we are, and what is best about our community of learning at MNCC. I pray the God of
love and peace will always be with you.
Crystal Farinola
Crystal Farinola has been appointed as our new Deputy Principal – Secondary from 2018. Crystal has been here today
and yesterday having her first orientation and handover discussions. Crystal has been Curriculum Coordinator and Key
Leader at Harvest Christian School Kadina. She comes highly recommended. As a bonus, she will also be our senior Art
teacher. Crystal is looking forward to her time with us, and taking on the privileges and challenges that the role demands.
Aviation News
We had an update this week that George Seppelt, one of our Aviation Graduates from 2016 has enrolled in a Bachelor of
Aviation Studies with UniSA with a view to gaining his Commercial Pilots Accreditation. It is great to hear of the success of
our alumni, and we wish him all the best for his endeavours.
Primary performance
This year our end of year concert will be held on site at the College. This will be a much more low key event compared to
last year, and we are looking forward to seeing the efforts of the Primary students.
We are planning for the performance to be on Thursday 7th December. There will be two performances – an early
performance at 4.30pm; followed by a community meal. Then there will be a second performance at 7pm. We will be
asking families to book in for either the early performance or the later performance, as there will not be seating enough for
everyone at the same time.
Tickets will be available from the office next week. More details to come.
Uniform Committee Update
Since the survey was completed, your uniform committee has been extremely busy.
They have taken your feedback seriously, and after a lot of careful research have identified quality items at a competitive
price to replace certain items. There will be a two year transition time for these items.
The committee have identified replacement items for sport shorts, track pants, track top, polo top, boys summer shirt, and
sports socks.
The new items are expected to be available end of February.
ICT
NBN connection – we are pleased that finally we have been able to connect to the NBN. Two lines are now connected,
and we are getting very good quality data speeds.
Our trial this year of portable devices has gone very well, with positive reports from Senior students. We intend to continue
this program next year. We will not be requiring families to buy portable devices, although we do expect to be able to
transition to students bringing their own devices from next year.
Bus update
We have been getting good interest about our new bus routes. At this stage we can confirm routes from Booleroo Centre,
as well as Gladstone through Crystal Brook. We have heard there is a lot of interest from Jamestown. We are likely to be
running a service from Port Augusta and Port Germein.
We have also had potential interest from Nelshaby and Napperby, and are considering adding a service there as well,
although are yet to receive expressions of interest from new families. If you would like to see a service added from there,
please talk to prospective families.
We are finding the best promotion of the bus services is by word of mouth. If you know families who might be interested,
why not take them an enrolment pack, and encourage them to come for a no obligation tour of the College? Please see
Robyn.

It was such a success they would like to do it again, only even better!
Kerry Stephens, Katie Evans and their families were key organisers last year, and would like to again make it

Please contact the Front Office if you would like to be involved in the organisation of our float.

Dear South Australian CEN Schools,
On behalf of the South Australian State Council and Christian Education National, it is with great
pleasure that we announce the appointment of Mrs Fiona Partridge as the State Executive Officer
for South Australian CEN schools. Fiona is well known to our SA schools and to Christian Education
across Australia as a competent and passionate educator with a zeal for Christian world
view. Coming from Torrens Valley Christian School where she has served as a teacher and leader
over many years, we are confident that Fiona will bring much skill and enthusiasm to the
role. Building on the great work of Wendy Joyce, who we warmly farewelled in September, we
are delighted to have Fiona serve us in this capacity. Fiona will continue to do some project work
at Torrens Valley Christian School and some additional work with CEN to support her part time SEO
role. We commend Fiona to you and look forward to you meeting her.
