PREREQUISITES ESL 033 EXPECTED STUDENT OUTCOMES IN THE COURSE Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Read and understand introductory college level material. 2. Derive meaning from context and/or schema. 3. Comprehend complex narratives and descriptions. 4. Understand the main idea from complex readings. 5. Distinguish fact from opinion. 6. Identify the organization of a text. 7. Recognize recurring themes. 8. Understand content and mood of a short story or novel. 9. Skim, scan and summarize.
