Did you know?Why do we use purple so much in Advent?
This week is the first week of Advent, a time ofpreparation as we await the celebration of Jesus’ Birth through Christmas. For the next few weeks, we’re going to see a lot of purple, but why?
Like Lent, Advent should also be a time of repentance and fasting as well as preparation for Jesus’ arrival, and purple is the color of fasting. Purple is also a color of royalty, and during Advent, we await the celebration of the birth of our King.***

Noticias de Nuestra ParroquiaGRACIAS DEL PADRE ROJAS – Nos agradece mucho el Padre Rojas por la bienvenida de la comunidad hispana y la concurrencia creciente de la Santa Misa en español cada sábado a las 19h en la capilla. Se escuchará confesiones a las 18h cada sábado en la capilla (con la excepción del 10 dic.).
RESERVEMOS LAS FECHAS del 10, 11 y 12 de DICIEMBRESABADO, 10 de DICIEMBRE: Misa del “Pase del Niño Viajero” a las 13h en la capilla y otras funciones esa tarde.No habrá ni Confesiones a las 18h ni Misa de Vigilia a las 19h en la capilla.
DOMINGO, 11 de DICIEMBRE: Misa Hispana a las 14h. en la capilla, combinando el III Domingo de Adviento con la advocación a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Luego gozaremos de un convivio guadalupano en el sótano de la capilla.

¿POR QUE HEMOS DE INSCRIBIR O REGISTRAR EN LA PARROQUIA?Recordemos que el católico siempre ha sido minoría en los Estados Unidos, incluso en el estado
de Nueva York. Entre otras razones, por eso el desarrollo de la Iglesia ha sido diferente que nuestros países de origen, especialmente de América Latina. Puesto que ni hay “concordato” entre la Santa Sede y los Estados Unidos ni hay compromiso del Gobierno federal, estatal o municipal de abonar a la Iglesia y puesto que la Arquidiócesis busca reservar su auxilio para las parroquias más necesitadas, casi toda parroquia católica en Estados Unidos depende del aporte regular de nosotros los fieles. Si valoramos lo que nos da la santa Iglesia (especialmente en español), hemos de mantener nuestra parroquia, especialmente durante esta oportunidad que tenemos de ampliar los servicios sacramentales y la atención pastoral a nuestra comunidad con la presencia del Padre Rojas.
En parroquias enormes como San Juan Evangelista en Mahopac, al pedir alguien una carta de referencia para temas de inmigración, padrinos, empleo y becas universitarias (entre otras razones), la inscripción (además del aporte regular a la parroquia mediante los sobres con su número de inscripción parroquial) indicaría al Padre Rojas o cualquier clérigo de nuestra parroquia su conexión y compromiso formal con la Iglesia mediante nuestra comunidad. ¡Es lógico que el Padre Rojas u otro clérigo averigüe acerca de la participación activa y personal de alguien pidiendo una carta de referencia! ¿Qué valdría la carta o la boleta entonces? Además, puede haber instancias de preferir feligreses en determinar tarifas o cupos de algunos programas o cuando hay colegio católico (esto depende de la parroquia particular) y le conviene aún más afilarse formalmente a la parroquia.

DIRECTIONS[1] Color the tree green and write your good deeds
on the ornaments and color.[2] Cut out and fold at right angle to stand up by itself. [3] Each week of Advent complete the tree and repeat
steps 1-2.[4] After you have 4 weeks of trees colored,
filled in and cut out, attach week 1 to week 2 by matching the corner letters and gluingor taping halves together up to the fold line. Do the same for week 3 and week 4, which will then attach to week 1 and 2 to complete.
