Methods
Comparison of Office 2007 and Office 2003
Word, Excel and Powerpoint tested Created a sample document with
both versions and measured the time and compared the difficulty of the task with both versions
Word I copied 200 words from ”A Guide to
the Final Year Project” by Taru Sotavalta according to the specifications stated in the guide
Word 2003 (1st)
Word 2007
Time 10:04 09:07
Difficulty 3/5 2/5
Excel I created a graph with both versions
based on a table manually created from measurements done in a physics lab
Excel 2003 Excel 2007 (1st)
Time 05:04 03:28
Difficulty
3/5 2/5
Powerpoint I combined parts of the two
previous tests into a slideshow (text, the Excel graph, a simple diagram)
Powerpoint 2003 (1st)
Powerpoint 2007
Time 07:46 05:54
Difficulty
2/5 1/5
Evaluation Task to make Office more usable is
definitely succesful Even with next to no preparation I
could get more out of 2007 than the earlier, more familiar version
A somewhat surpising but now unevitable, and in my opinion very welcome, upgrade to one of your main tools of studying
