Microsoft Access 2010 Lessons 1. Myitlab for Microsoft Access 2010. www.myitlab.com Students will create a new account using the access code they purchased in the textbook bundle. Students should use their full name as shown on PAWS registration and use their PAWS email. Students must make a note of their username and password. Once registered, the students use the Course ID for ISDS 2001 emailed to you by the instructor to enroll in the course. The myitlab account is valid for 12 months. 2. Myitlab Customer Support at http://247pearsoned.custhelp.com 3. Students may use their own PC or use the LSU computer labs in Patrick F. Taylor and in Middleton library to complete the myitlab assignments. I do not recommend using Apple computers. You will be tested on a PC computer in the testing center. 4. Note: If you choose to use a home computer, go to www.myitlab.com and follow the directions at the links for an Installation Wizard and Home Diagnostic Tool Kit. Make sure your home computer is set up to run myitlab at top performance. Otherwise use the PC computers in the LSU labs to complete the assignments. 5. Myitlab trainings, pretest, and exam – Chapters 1-10. On Moodle, students are given the Word document containing a list of Chapters, Hands-On, Skill-based Trainings and Steps Access Learning Objectives: Exploring Access 2010 Comprehensive Skills Covered. Students should check off the tasks on the list as they go through myitlab and make note of any questions or difficulties. Students should complete all the trainings and the pretest well before the due date so they have time to ask the instructors for help as needed. Students should repeat the training tasks 4-5 times as necessary to prepare for the Access 2010 Exam (which is administered as Test 2 in the computer testing lab for ISDS 2001). The pretest alone is inadequate preparation for the exam because the pretest is contains only a small sample of the many training questions that could be on the test. The pretest is merely a way to practice how the myitlab exam will be conducted – a timed test, without hints or “show me”. 6. On Moodle, students are given the Word document containing a list of Chapters 1-10, Hands-On, Skill-based Trainings and Steps Access Learning Objectives: Exploring Access 2010 Comprehensive Skills Covered. The students are to use this list as they complete the online training and use it as a study guide for the Access pretest and Access practical myitlab exam (which is administered as Test 2 in the computer testing lab for ISDS 2001). 7. Moodle contains the Word document Access_KeyTerms containing a list of Access vocabulary, concepts, and examples. Students will learn these and be tested on these in multiple-choice format in Test 3, along with questions from the Business Intelligence textbook Chapter 2 Data Warehousing.
