Thank you for choosing this car seat, referred tothroughout this manual as a child restraint. TheMaxi-Cosi Brand is part of the Dorel JuvenileGroup (DJG) family that is committed to creatinga child restraint with the most comfort andconvenience available today.

Remember, parents are a child’s first teachersand examples. If you always buckle your seatbelt, your child will think it is the natural thing todo. Make it a firm rule that the vehicle does notgo until everyone is buckled up. Make noexceptions.

No one can predict if use of a child restraint willprevent injury or death in a particular crash. However, combined with careful driving, properuse of a child restraint can lower a child’s riskof injury or death in most crashes.

Your child’s safety is worth the time it will taketo read and follow these instructions. Afterreading, if you still have questions or have anyproblems with this child restraint, pleasecontact our Consumer Relations Department at:

Knowing Your VehicleBelts

Not all vehicle belts will work with this childrestraint. You must determine if your vehiclesbelts are compatible with this child restraint. Ifyou will use the LATCH system, refer to the LATCHsection.ELR - Emergency Locking Retractor Belts Definition: These belts only lock in a sudden stopor crash. To see if you have this type of belt, pullon the lap belt, let it return part way, then pull on itagain. If it moves freely, it is an ELR belt and thechild restraint could work loose during normaldriving. Refer to your vehicle owner’s manual. Some ELR belts will convert to Automatic LockingRetractor (ALR) belts if you pull the belt all the wayout. Refer to your vehicle owner’s manual.ELR shoulder belts either require a locking clip orcannot be used with any child restraint.ELR lap-only belts must be replaced with amanual belt; contact your vehicle dealer. A lockingclip will not correct this problem.Automatic/Passive vehicle seat beltsThe automatic (passive) 2-point belt has no lapbelt. You must install a lap belt to secure a childrestraint. You may also need to install an extra lap

If the lap belt continues to loosen, the childrestraint must be moved to another location inthe vehicle. A locking clip will not correct thisproblem; see your vehicle owner’s manual.

Manual BeltsManual lap beltsare common in thecenter rear seatand can allow thechild restraint toloosen when it istilted or jarred.

After tightening the lap belt securely, tilt and pushthe child restraint forward and to both sides. If noloosening occurs, your child restraint should besecure.
