Responsible for the safety and reliability of the airlines’ entire fleet of DHC-7, DC8, DC9, DC10,
and L1011 aircraft and engines, including the PT-6A, JT8-D, JT-3, CFM56, and RB211
powerplants. Achieved 100% safe operating record during my tenure. Directed and managed the
Maintenance and Engineering division with approximately 300 employees consisting of Aircraft
Mechanics, Inspectors, Engineers, Managers and Support Staff. Served as the airline’s
representative for heavy maintenance visits as various outside vendors, including British Airways,
Singapore Technologies, and TWA. Managed the Engineering Department, hired
and trained new engineers and technical service specialists. Negotiated aircraft and engine purchase
and lease agreements with aircraft manufacturers and major financial institutions. Created the
airline’s Aging Aircraft Program. Developed the M&E operating budget and set departmental goals
