EU Countries financial commitment Economic endorsement: Italy – Ministry of Economic Development Portugal - National Research Council FCT Ministry of Science and Technology Romania - National Authority for Scientific Research and Innovation
We have very good perspectives to obtain additional financial commitments from other European Countries joining METROFOOD-RI. We foresee the possibility to obtain the economic endorsement both from some Countries that already gave the political one (e.g.: Czech Republic, Turkey, Macedonia) and from new Countries (e.g.: The Netherland, Hungary)
CULS will apply, within a National Consortium, to the Czech National Roadmap of Research Infrastructures of Strategic Relevance, so as to include Metrology in Food and Nutrition in the National priorities and to earmark funds in support to the development and operation of METROFOODRI activities (2016)
Possibility to obtain additional commitment also from other Ministries

Partners of the Italian Node 1/2
Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) - is the National Focal Point of the European Food Safety Authority in technical and scientific matter and site of WHO Collaborating Centres, the FAO Reference Center for Veterinary Public Health, EU-Reference Laboratories for Chemical Elements in Food of Animal Origin, Escherichia Coli and Parasites and several National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) for Residues and Contaminants in food and feeds such as the NRL for mycotoxins.
Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise (IZS-AM) is one of the ten Italian Zooprophylactic Institutes that operate within the Ministry of Health network. It is national reference centre for various specialisations (dioxin testing, training, brucellosis, exotic disease, etc) and its laboratories are accredited according to ISO 17025 with over 260 test methods accredited.
Italian National Institute of Metrology (INRIM) - INRIM is the national public body with the task of carrying out and promoting scientific research in metrology. INRIM carries out studies and researches on the realization of primary standards for the basic and derived units of the International System of units (SI), assures the maintenance of such standards, their international comparison and in general provides measurements traceability to the SI. In addition to physical and engineering metrology, its main R&D areas are in fundamental physical constants, materials, metrology for chemistry, nanotechnology, innovation, quantum information and artificial vision.
ENEA is the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development. ENEA performs Scientific Research and Technological Development and provides agency services in support to public administrations, public and private enterprises, and citizens. ENEA carried out pioneer activities on Metrology in Chemistry and Biology and in and in recent years he has played a key role in the development of metrology for the agro-industrial sector. The BIOAG Division has developed facilities for Reference Materials production and actively contributes to the creation of strategies and development priorities of large aggregations as the Technological Platform Food for Life, the National Technolgy Cluster AgriFood and the KIC FoodBest.
Partners of the Italian node 2/2
The European Institute of Oncology (IEO) is one of Italy’s 45 research hospitals and treatment centres with research laboratories and clinical services. The Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is responsible for the Food Composition Database for Epidemiological Studies in Italy (BDA).
The Department of Medical and Biological Science of University of Udine (DSMB) since 2004 collaborates with the IEO for the compilation and management of the Food Composition Database for epidemiological studies in Italy (BDA-IEO) (www.bda-ieo.it). Food Science Dept cooperates with regulamentary bodies (e.g. International Olive Oil, Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Italian Ministry of Industry) in method development.
Chemistry for Technologies Laboratory (Chem4Tech - www.chem4tech.it) is member of AFL network. Chem4Tech mission is the development and assessment of experimental and theoretical tools for studying materials at the micro and nanoscale. In the frame of Health & Wealth program, Chem4Tech has developed new techniques and protocols for the elemental analysis of environmental and biological matrices. In particular, a new non destructive method to analyze filters by TXRF has been patented.
Brescia University
Whirlpool R&D S.r.l. is a newly established Italian subsidiary of Whirlpool Corporation with about 80 specialized researchers engaged in research activities on materials, product engineering, technologies of storage and cooking of food and advanced electronic.
