it’s no surprise that the buildings of MVRDV are oftendescribed as “hungry boxes”, stuffed with largechunks of complex data that translate into boxyshapes that can accommodate shifting interiorpossibilities. at the frontline of a more ecologicallyconscious generation, MVRDV seek to create a morefluid relationship between indoors and outdoors,inhabitants and nature. for that purpose, light and thesurrounding landscape are incorporated in the design.
bukan hal yang mengejutkan bahwa bangunan-bangunan/karya-karya MVRDV sering didefinisikansebagai “hungry boxes” (kotak-kotak lapar) yangmemuat issues/problems yang kompleks yangditerjemahkan/diaplikasikan ke dalam bentuk kotakyang mengakomodasi berbagai macam kemungkinaninterior.sebuah generasi yang concern/peduli denganlingkungan, MVRDV berusaha menciptakan lebihbanyak hubungan yang lebih luwes/fleksibel antararuang dalam dan ruang luar serta penghuni dan alam.oleh karena itu, pencahayaan alami dan lingkungansekitar dihubungkan dalam satu kesatuan pada desainbangunan.
MVRDV have a utopian quality eventhough critics would be tempted to slamsome of their plans as Le Corbusier-inspired modernist dystopias.
