1. Just as we need food for development, growth and well being plants also require nutrients for growth

2. There are sixteen nutrients which are essential for plant .

3. Air supplies carbon and oxygen ,hydrogen comes for water and soil supplies the other thirteen to plants.

1.Manure contains large quantities of organic matter and also supplies of nutrients to the soil.

2.Manure helps in enriching soil with nutrients and organic matter and increasing soil fertility.

fertilizer1. Fertilizers are

commercially produced plant nutrients.

2. Fertilizer supply nitrogen ,phosphorus and potassium t

3. This excess fertilizer then leads to water pollution.

organic farming1. Organic farming is a farming system with minimal or no use of chemicals as fertilizers herbicides , pesticides etc. and with a maximum input of organic manures recycled farm –wastes providing nutrients

Cropping patterns

1. Different ways of growing crops can be used to give maximum benefit.

2. Mixed cropping is growing two or more crops simultaneously on the same piece of land ,for example, wheat + gram ,or wheat +mustard.

Suitable place and Nature of Soil1. Weed control methods also

include mechanical removal.2. Preventive methods such as

proper seed bed preparation, timely sowing of crops, intercropping and crop rotation also help in weed control.

3. Some other preventive measures against pests are the use of resistant varieties, and summer ploughing, in which field are ploughed deep in summers to destroy weeds and pests.

Improvement of crops

1. A fertile land contains all the nutrients necessary for a crop to grow. Since plants utilize these nutrients to grow the amount of the nutrients in the soil goes on decreasing and the fertility of the is reduced . If the nutrients in the soil are not replenished timely a fertile land would become infertile in the long run.

Fallow field and crop rotationsFallow field -1. it is the process in which after the harvesting of crops field are kept uncultivated for one or one or more season . During this period the land regains its lost nutrients and becomes fertile again for the cultivation of next crop.2. Crop rotation is the method of improving soil fertile in which crop are grown on a rotational basis

Irrigation1.Farmers have to ensure an

adequate supply water for the survival and proper development of their crop.

2.Irrigation is an artificial method of supplying water to plants.

3.Water requirement differs from crop to crop, soil to soil and season to season.
