be approving your login based on the email we have on file for you but your password is your own and we won’t ever see it. Range Grading – Wow!!! We’re finally getting some of the work started on the outdoor range grading project. This is exciting as its taken sooooooo long to get it all done. Stand by for more updates on that too, but for now we expect to begin moving earth the week after the SWAT Challenge in August. See you at the range –

June is probably my favorite month of the year. For me, June means Summer is finally here, it means that Women on Target is here and it means no more freezing temperatures at the range. I also like June because it’s a turning point from the first half of the year to the second. The first half begins cold, gloomy and gray while the second half begins warm, sunny and (at least this year) dry. So I hope you enjoy the warmer months as much as I do! Considering how much snow we had, it’s amazingly dry right now. Dry is good for our annual Women on Target event too. Seeing so many female shooters is wonderful and knowing that many of them come back year after year, bringing friends, daughters, mothers and grandmothers is absolutely amazing. Website – Our Metacon website will be upgraded very soon and it will include some great enhancements. There will be a member login area where members can see their account balance (which should be ZERO right now!), read past newsletters, by-laws and meeting minutes along with anything else the club would like the members to have private access to. There will also be a “message board” area to our site where people can start their own topic and comment on others. This is designed to lead people to more interaction with each other. Who knows, maybe you’ll find your next shooting buddy right here at your own club. People will also be able to create their own on-line polls for questions like “Glock or Smith & Wesson for a striker fired pistol?” The updated site will also pull more information from our calendar directly to the front page. That will help people looking for range availability etc. see it right away. I want to thank Adam Peirce (a club member) and owner of Stonepier for the site design and John Baleshiski (on the wait list) for the technology that runs the site. Adam and John made this process smooth and easy. You’ll hear more about the updated site shortly, as the member area is optional and if you want to take advantage of it, you’ll need to create your own login and password. I’ll mention that this is a very private area. The Club will

Meeting Notes by Craig Trujillo
The Monthly Membership Meeting was held on Tuesday May 19, 2015 at the Metacon Gun Club clubhouse. The meeting was called to order by club President, Bob Margolis at 7:30PM.
Present: Bob Margolis, Gary Lenk, Jim Couture, Mike Palmer, Peter Donahue, Bob Sunday, Andrew Davenport, Jeff Moores, Roy McAdoo, Craig Trujillo, Jason Newman, Vlad Mashkovich, and Mike D’Angelo.
Absent: Bruce Thompson and Dennis Golden.
Bob Margolis, President, (Bob) opened the meeting by welcoming those in attendance and had a fellow board member read the April 21, 2015 Membership Meeting Minutes to those in attendance. A motion was made and approved to accept the minutes as submitted by the recording secretary. Bob then called upon the new applicants in attendance to introduce themselves and say a few words. New applicants were Ralph Lee Gezelman III – Burlington, Robert Palazzo – Farmington, and Ronald Perry – West Simsbury. The new applicants were informed of the current waiting list. A motion was made and approved to accept the new applicants to the wait list. Bob Margolis, during the meeting, welcomed back Archery Director, Jim Couture and welcomed to the Board of Governors the new Recording Secretary, Craig S. Trujillo.
General Matters June Shew reported for Friends of Metacon (FOM). FOM is a very effective community outreach program and is open to the public, each month. This program continues to be enormously popular and has been made possible by the efforts of our many volunteers which are currently needed. FOM is held the 4th Saturday of every month from 6PM to 10PM. The cost is $10 for non-members. Ammunition is available and is reimbursed. There is no fee for members. Only factory loaded ammunition will be permitted for this event. The course of fire has been updated for the next FOM event.
Sondra Harmon reported for Women on Target (WOT). This year’s event is set for June 6, 2015. A total of 60 participants will be allowed. The next WOT event is on schedule. The newly appointed chief range officer for the event is Vlad Mashkovich, the club’s rifle director. The event set-up will take place the Friday afternoon before the Saturday event from about 3:30 PM to 5 PM.
The payment of annual dues and assessments on time for members was stressed and the repercussions of delinquency were explained to the attendees.
John Buckley, political activity leader, led a
discussion on CT bill # SB650 and stressed that members contact their state legislators and express their discontent with the bill (restraining order and confiscating of weapons and ammunition) and urge legislator to oppose the bill by phone or email during the current session in place at the state capital.
A discussion on the approval of the Simsbury Zoning Board’s approval of the clubs capital improvement project, five years in the making, for fencing, erosion control, and safety wall, re-grading of outdoor range and expanding the parking area took place. The outdoor range would be closed during the renovations from about mid-August to sometime in October 2015. Work parties will be needed to assist in expedient completion of the project. Bob Margolis took Lisa Heavener, Simsbury’s new First Select Woman, on a tour of the club facilities. This was her first ever visit to the club.

Treasurer Report
Mike Palmer, Treasurer The Treasurer reported, as of May 20, 2015, there are cash deposits in various bank
accounts, including income bearing accounts, totaling $436,484. Other assets total $7,532. There are currently about $17,000 of deposits the need to be made and there is about $17,000 in accounts payable. There are 182 outstanding membership dues and 100 in process of being recorded.
Mike explained the time frame for paying club dues. Club dues for 2015 – 2016 of $100, plus $55 assessment, were due on April 20, 2015. There is a 30 day grace period then if still unpaid the access key will be disconnected. No other treasury matters were discussed.
Handgun Director Report
Jeff Moores Summer Bullseye matches are open to members and also non-members. Non-
members should have at least moderate shooting skills, and a working knowledge of the Club's range and safety rules which are available on the Club website. If in doubt, feel free to sit in and observe a match or two.
Summer Bullseye shooting begins on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 and runs through Tuesday August 11, 2015. It is a great opportunity to brush up on your shooting skills and mingle with fellow club members at a very informal and inexpensive event. The first course starts at 5:30 PM sharp. Plan on arriving at least 10 minutes early. For later arrivals, the second course starts around 6:20 PM. The match fee is $10 for the entire season which covers the cost of supplies. A .22 rim fire handgun is required and at your option a center-fire gun. The 22 rim fire gun may be used for both courses. Also required to shoot the courses are ear and eye protection, stapler, pen and clipboard. Targets and score-sheets are provided.
Junior Director Report
Andrew Davenport Metacon has a junior rifle program. It’s precision target shooting for kids from age 10 through 21. They shoot bolt action 22 rim fire rifles at ranges from 50 to 100 yards outdoors in the summer and 50 feet indoors during the winter. They compete in various local matches and can also compete at the national championship out in Camp Perry. Practices are every Monday at 5:30 PM and typically anywhere from 10 to 15 participants come out. It should be noted that two juniors will be honored at the CSRRA All State Team banquette in May 2015. The next match will be the Nutmeg State Games.
Building and Grounds Director Report
Bob Sunday The May 2nd, 2015 work party went very well and was attended by 37 members and one person from the wait list. The area around the

clubhouse, the parking lot and the outdoor range were cleaned and raked. The gutters were cleaned, 57 new target frames were built and another 10 had the cardboard replaced. Sections of the property line were walked as far as possible, checking the wire and signage and three new picnic tables were assembled. The indoor range left side fan has burned out and a new fan is scheduled to be installed on May 23, 2015. Very sorry to any and all members inconvenienced by the work involved. The new contract for lawn mowing and mosquito control has been signed and both services will begin shortly. Lawn mowing is scheduled to be done on Friday mornings, hopefully by 7:30 AM as in the past. Homemade targets used on the outdoor range should be taken home or discarded after use. Twenty two new outdoor shooting port numbers are ordered and will be installed when received. The outdoor electrical circuit breaker for the trap shed light and outlets along the fence line will be checked examined by our electrician and repaired or replaced as needed.
All of the work was done by a crew of folks that seemed to be enjoying themselves and just having a good time helping each other and the club. My thanks to each and every single one of you!

Member Accounts with Non-Zero Balance Meeting
The following list includes both those who have a credit balance (negative number) and those who owe money (positive number) to the club, AS OF SATURDAY MAY 23, 2015. If you owe more than $30 you are now in Suspended status, meaning your card will not give you access to the Club ranges (you will still be able to get into the clubhouse). Now, those of you who have not paid anything toward your 2015 membership costs are considered LATE, and must add $27.50 ($25 late fee + $2.50 tax) to the total amount owed. Everyone has through June 20, 2015 to pay what is owed before losing membership status. Some of you simply sent in an incorrect amount. Some who paid using PayPal did not add the $8 we specified to cover fees. Per our bylaws all members who owe money, regardless of the amount, will be
terminated after June 20th. On the other side of the coin, many of you sent in more than you owed, and therefore have a credit balance (negative number in the list). You may request that this be returned by contacting the Treasurer, OR you may leave it in your account to be applied to next year's charges. What should you do? If you owe money, pay it before June 21st. You can pay by check, cash, or credit card thru PayPal. Checks can be mailed to Treasurer, PO Box 691, Simsbury, CT 06070. Cash and checks can be left in the drop box in the clubhouse. PayPal payments should be sent to: [email protected].
NOTE: You are responsible for fees assessed by PayPal, so unless you are exempt from fees, add $8 to your payment.

Are we getting anywhere? I see some signs. A recent Editorial From the New London Day (not a conservative newspaper): “In failing to include Republican lawmakers in state budget negotiations, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is effectively disenfranchising thousands of citizens in southeastern Connecticut who sent a message about the need for fiscal prudency with the choices they made last November. Republican state Reps. John F. Scott, 40th District; Aundre Bumgardner, 41st District; Mike France, 42nd District; and Doug Dubisky, 47th District, all ousted incumbent Democrats. In the 38th District, Republican state Rep. Kathleen M. McCarty was elected to fill a vacant seat long held by the Democrats. On the Senate side, state Sen. Paul
Formica of the 20th also captured a vacant seat that had been in the Democratic column for years, while in the 33rd District, Sen. Art Linares, a Republican, won re-election.” Four of the five reps and the senator mentioned above voted for SB 1150 back in April of 2013 and they are now gone. Well done! I have been talking to the gun owners at work and letting them know what they can do and how to do it. Once they hear what is going on, they move on it. Otherwise these people would not have made their voice heard.
Everyone who owns firearms must
contact their legislators to make them nervous. There are indications that some feel the sleeping giant (gun owners) are waking up. THEY DO KEEP A TALLY of how many of their voters are for or against an issue - we must be heard or how will they know they have any opposition?
