President's Message- From the Desk of the President I am pleased to write this letter for the THIRD edition of the AEV magazine'tor 2014. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to see my article on Grounding and Ohm's Law in the AEV. Grounding and why it is done is prob- ably one of the most misunderstood things in a car's electrical system. I hope my article was a help to anyone who read it. I also wrote an article on a 1956 Hudson equipped with an American Motors Weathereye heater air con- ditioning system. I was able to recharge the ac system with refrigerant and word from the owner is that it is still working. Both of these afticles took very little of my time and I would encourage anyone in CHVA to consider doing one. There was a time in past years when some six issues a year of the AEV were pub- lished thanks to members writing articles. I am very excited to inform you that CHVA is now on YouTube with the first day of the 2014 National Tour. This now opens the door to a whole new world for CHVA and the possibili- ties are endless. By using YouTube we solve several problems at the same time. YouTube solves the problem of different formatting issues between Apple and Windows comput- ers. Using YouTube any computer will see the entire video with no problems. A simple link is on the CHVA website and just clicking on the window will play the video. You may also just go to YouTube and just type in 2014 CHVA Tour and it will come right up. So this really amounts to double exposure for CHVA. My thanks to Judy O'Byrne for doing this video that I was able to figure out how to upload to YouTube. This only took thirty minutes of my time. This brings me to another idea that I have. Why not use Social Media to help promote CHVA? I ran an experiment with my old Kodak digital camera and discovered that it will do a 15 minute video (most videos on YouTube are limited to fifteen minutes) with sound. I then downloaded a free mov to mp4 converter (mov is what my Kodak camera saves files in and mp4 is a common video format that YouTube will accept). Again this took very little of my time. How about something like shorl interviews of CHVA members talking about their experiences on CHVA Tours? Sort of like advertising using word of mouth. These videos could then be uploaded to YouTube and put on the CHVA website using a link just like the 2014 National Tour Video. I have been working on finding someone for our open Board position to no avail. lf any- one has any desire to serve or knows some- one who might consider running please let us know. I will leave you with those thoughts. Keep that old iron running and remember that if it is at all possible, consider driving your classic car on tour. Gordon Moseley CHVA President
