Ah-ha! Thanks for digging that \p. However, as a matter of policy we do not edit non-HTML files. The reason is that the managing division usually has responsibility for the^source document, and if wejytake a change, it's likely

oen the true owner of the document will later make a change,,to THEIR version of it, which,dt course would wipe out any changes we made. Ypu can see that can get confusing. '

/ So, please find whoeyer in OGC is responsible fo'r those WPD files and ask them to make the changes and then email them to us. / / /

A changed, be sure'that OGC has copied his updated files so they don't edit outdated

I haye another change. On all the model ECs, in the "Case ID #" section, please eliminate the reference to the 66 file, and leave in the case file number. Also, on all of the model ECs., please change the classification marking "X25-1" to "X-1."

•b6 P CDCs - these changes arise from the fact that 1) there is no 66 headquarters NSL file

anymore and 2) there has been some misinformation circulated within OGC about the X25-1 b 2 marking, and I have mistakenly told peoplel Jin particular) to use X25-1 routinely,

whereas the 25 year classification should only be used if Sorry for the mistake.

One additional thing. Could you please put [OPTIONAL] at the beginning of the paragraph, so it looks as follows:

[OPTIONAL] If the time period noted above is to the "present," that term is intended to request information to the date of the processing of this request. If providing information to the date of processing is not feasible, please provide information to the date of receipt of this request.

Please add to NSLB's website, National Security Letters, the following language to the model NSLs numbered 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.

If the time period noted above is to the "present," that term is intended to request information to the date of the processing of this request. If providing information to the date of processing is not feasible, please provide information to the date of receipt of this request.

Please put this language in as the second full paragraph, to follow the bolded information that identifies the nature of the requested information. You will see that in all of these requests, one of the options is for information to the "present."

Since we are in the middle of revising the attachment to the transactional record NSL, I don't think we should upload anything on the website on that issue. And the attachment to the RFPA NSL is already attached to the model NSL on the website.

During this afternoon's briefing for Senate Judiciary and Intelligence committee staff, we were asked to provide the copies with blank NSLs and any explanatory attachments that accompany the actual letters. Attached are the NSLs that I pulled from the NSLB intranet website. I noted that only 3 (toll record, transactional record, and right to financial privacy letters) included attachments.

Are these current versions of the NSL 'ponies'? Are the attachments for any of the other types of letters? Once we have the complete package, is there any reason that we cannot/should not provide blank copies of these documents to these oversight committees and/or is there any special marking/handling caveat that should accompany them?

We hope to provide this to the Committee quickly - this week if possible - to assist in ongoing negotiations re Patriot Act reauthorization. Please call if you have questions. Thanks,

What do you need for the bullets on the reporting to Congress issue? In the talking points on NSLs, we included a chart with reporting information (See, pp. 2 & 7). Let me know if this is sufficient for your task.
