We've often heard the adage "CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT". I couldn't agree with it

more than now. As it has been my experience that it is not only the constant but also the factor

which creates a healthy opportunity for any organisation to grow.

As the person who comes in brings with him/ her self new ideas , rich experience and the will to

implement new initiatives which jolts everyone out of their complacency and gives the organisa-

tion the much required thrust that is lost over a period of time.

This is exactly what Dr Arundhati , the new principal has brought with her.

Having worked with her for the past couple of months I realised the above and how it will help

CPGIS scale greater heights at a faster speed.

So parents let's extend her a warm welcome and support her in all her endeavours thus helping

OUR school and students to grow.

Warm Regards

Archana Goenka

From PrinciPal’s desk

I’m very happy to join CPGOENKA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL as a Principal from this

academic year 2016-2017. After a month here I can confidently say that I’m at the right place.

We have a team of enthusiastic, hardworking teachers who are willing to better themselves

each day, lovely children who are our life line, our loyal parents and very supportive manage-

ment. I wish to scale this institution to new heights with everybody’s help.

As a principal I strongly believe in team cohesion and harmony. A dedicate team with clear

goals can achieve anything.

When students came back from their summer break they had a surprise waiting for them! The

school had installed a CCD unit. The idea was to provide our students and staff with hygienic,

tasty and fresh snacks at minimal rates without compromising on the quality.

The entire month of June has been brimming with activities at CPGIS, enjoy these moments

as you turn the pages on!

Children of Grade II had a fun filled overnight camp in school. The dark was fun

with children singing and dancing merrily around the campfire.

They enjoyed barbequed corn cobs, marshmallows and baby potatoes to lip

smacking food .

From lighting up sparklers to reading their books in the dark with torchlights in

tents, they ended their evening tired and ready for bed. It was an exciting and

eventful experience.

The field trip to Nehru Science Centre was

planned for the students of Grade III to re-

inforce the topic ‘Universe’ .

The children got an insight about Life on

Planet Earth, Astronauts , working of

Artificial satellites and much more.

A walk to Kaifi Azmi Park

“Nothing beats an exciting hands on experience to deepen learning. The Magic of a

field trip isn’t just the subject. It’s the break in routine and adventure that opens up

children’s minds to new things”.

A small walk from school to the park seemed fun for the kids.

As the children reached the park they were thrilled seeing people on their walks. The

teachers took their respective classes and showed them different plants, trees and

shrubs. After the walk around the park they were made to sit on the benches and acti-

vate their sense organs . They even came up with their own questions and queries. All

in all it was a great way to make children aware of their surroundings.

Just five minutes a day can transform your life!!

Whether you are seeking health and joy or peace and love, whether it is success in the world or inner exploration you are striving for, these simple practices help you cut through the struggle and one can walk through life with ease.

21st June 2016 – International Yoga Day – It was celebrated in the primary section by creating an awareness and importance of yoga. The students were familiar with the word “Yoga” and connected it to exercise, breathing, Did they really know the benefits?

Explanation, discussion and showing a power point presentation did the trick!

Benefits:

1. Stabilizing of mind, body and emotions.

2. Strengthening the spine.

3. Relieving back pain, stress, anxiety and tension

4. Enhancing teamwork and communication

5. Imparting a lasting sense of joy, peace and fulfillment.

All the benefits were explained in simple terminology.

The session was finally ended with a round of basic Yoga postures and deep breath-ing exercises conducted by Ms. Smita, the art teacher.

Kudos to the primary section for celebrating the spirit of yoga by joining together and heading towards becoming or blossoming into successful health and energetic souls!!

Technological advances are now allowing people to transfer money, deposit checks

and pay their bills from their home computers and smartphones. Getting cash from

an ATM often requires only walking or driving by the outside of a branch. But there

are still some things consumers generally need to do—or prefer to do—with human

assistance inside a bank branch. We took our commerce students of Grade 9 and 10

to Allahabad Bank to observe the bank functioning.

C.P. Goenka International School, Juhu celebrated a proud day by formally inducting its students’ council members on

16th June, 2016.

“Leaders are the role models who inspire the followers and motivate them to reach the target of success.” C.P. Goenka

International School, Juhu has always been inspired by the vision of ensuring ‘the growth and development of every

student as a global citizen through the simultaneous realization of academic, physical, cultural and spiritual aspiration.’

The students are the torch-bearers of tomorrow. Therefore, nurturing them and fostering in them a sense of self-respect,

self-discipline, the capacity to enjoy life independently and the willingness to care for others are extremely pertinent.

Prior to the election process the contestant council members were short-listed through a rigorous process of personal

interview. The selected candidates were then allowed to campaign before the elections. The council members were

elected democratically by the students and teachers across school. Teachers were trained to handle the electronic ballet.

Each class was allotted a time period to cast their votes in the Computer labs.

The ceremony was inaugurated by the traditional lamp lighting and the singing of ‘Saraswati Vandana.’ The former

and the newly elected council members marched smartly to the stage which was followed by the handing over of the

School, Sports and House flags, respectively. The esteemed guests: Mrs. Archana Goenka, Mrs. Sarita Dalmia, Mrs.

Monika Agrawal and Dr. Arundhati Hoskeri, honoured the new council with sashes, badges and certificates. Our princi-

pal, Dr. Hoskeri, conducted the oath-taking with pride and glee.

The former and the newly elected School Captains gave speeches expressing their views and plans. This momentous

ceremony was bid adieu by a vote of thanks.

With a positive hope that these young leaders will uphold the values of the school and keep C. P. Goenka International’s

Flag flying high while discharging their duties with honesty and impartiality, the school wishes our aspiring leaders the

very best for all the coming ventures.

Here is what our Newly Elected School Captain Says...

My vision for the school as the school captain and for my student council team is as follows:

- ensuring maximum student participation.

- encouraging and discovering students with hidden talents.

- hosting inter - school events.

- to be a good liaison between the school and students.

- to build and instil a sense of pride and belonging to CPGIS

I promise to carry out my responsibly with honesty, integrity, sincerity and to the best of my ability.

With my student council to back me and teachers to guide me I'm looking forward to this eventful year.

Nankee Arora, Senior School Captain for the year 2016 - 2017.

Page 20: Message From Our Trustee - Juhucpgoenkajuhu.com/pdf/CPGIS Newsletter June 2016.pdf · 2017-10-01 · Message From Our Trustee We've often heard the adage "CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT"

Our former School Captain’s journey

I remember standing here exactly one year ago, not knowing what I'm going to do, or how I'm going

to fulfil my duties. And now after one year of hard-work & dedication I can say that it was definitely

an experience of a lifetime. I always dreamt of having this post so when I finally got elected I was

really excited.

I'm not going to say it's an easy task but I can guarantee it's definitely one that's worth it. The journey

has been amazing.

Throughout the year we worked on different events and tried our best to make them successful which

would never be possible without the guidance of Ms. Iffat, Ms Supriya, Ms Pooja, Ms Zenia & Ms

Renu and of course, Ms Savita because of whom I got the courage to even stand as School Captain.

As wonderful as it was to make our school proud, it was as much of a personal journey too; I

discovered a lot about myself while learning how to deal with council duties and academics, and

while shouting in assemblies telling students to stand in a line.

Oh and not to mention, there's some fun perks too. No one said you're not allowed to cut canteen lines

by saying you're in the council!

I couldn't more be grateful, and fortunate for being given this amazing, unforgettable opportunity that

taught me so much. If I was given a chance I would love to relive it all : from organising teachers day

to collecting trophies at cascade to marching on sports day!

I'd like to thank all the teachers for always motivating and being supportive, and especially Ankit Sir

and Ms Tahseen, for letting me bunk some lectures so I can finish work in tie. Thank you for believ-

ing in me.

So this is me believing in you. Congratulations on making it to the start of this wonderful experience.

All the best and make our school proud.

Thank you.

Mallika Maroo, the former school captain for the year 2015-2016
