Monthly Prayer
God our Father,
You sent Saint Patrick
to preach your glory to
the people of Ireland.
By the help of his
prayers, may all
Christians proclaim your
love to all men.
Grant this through our
Lord Jesus Christ, your
Son, who lives and
reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, one God,
for ever and ever.
Amen
Welcome to our
new newsletter format, I
hope that it is something
that you enjoy reading. Our
goal with this new format
is to provide our parents
and alumni with informa-
tion on current events tak-
ing place at Cedar Catholic.
We want this newsletter to
be a source of information
as well as a source of con-
tact with our parents and
alumni
The students of
Cedar Catholic have been
active this Lent building
their faith and relationship
with Jesus. Thanks to the
local parishes all of the
students of Cedar Catholic
were given a copy of the
book Rediscover Jesus by
Matthew Kelley. There are
forty chapters to this book
which coincide with each
day of Lent. As the stu-
dents have been reading
the book they have also
had reflections each day in
class. A short video has
also been put together to go
along with the book. The
students have the opportu-
nity to watch this video
each day as well. We are
fortunate, as a school, to be
able to take advantage of
this faith growing experi-
ence. In addition to the
book, we held an all school
Lenten Retreat on Febru-
ary 23. More information
on the retreat is in an arti-
cle in this newsletter. At
the conclusion of the re-
treat Fr. Loseke informed
the students of the Campus
Ministry program we have
been working to develop.
This Campus Ministry pro-
gram will develop events
for our students to assist in
their faith development.
We are excited about the
beginning of this program
and what it can do for our
students. More information
about Campus Ministry
can be found on our website
under the Faith and Ser-
vice tab.
Congratulations to
all of our students involved
in winter activities. For the
most part these have
wound down for the season,
but some are still taking
place. It is exciting to see
the work and effort the stu-
dents put into their seasons
pay off with success. Thank
you to all of the people that
have supported the many
teams that we have.
The Catholic
Schools Gala is April 2.
This is a great night for our
Catholic schools as we have
the opportunity to enjoy
food and conversation with
the many people that sup-
port our Catholic schools.
This fundraising event also
important to the financial
success of our schools as it
raises funds that go to the
budgets of our schools. I
invite all of you to join us
this fun filled evening. I
encourage you to find
something on the list of
items that you need, or
don’t need, and make a
purchase to help support
our schools.
Enjoy the rest of
our newsletter. We will be
emailing this out to all of
our parents and alumni
whose email addresses we
have. If you know someone
who would like to receive
our email please let us
know.

ken and weak, our response to
brokenness, and how nothing
can defeat us if God walks
with us through our suffering.
Students then watched the
first half of the film Seabis-
cuit.
The movie is based on
the true story of three men - a
jockey, a horse trainer, and a
businessman - and an under-
sized and underestimated
racehorse. All four of these
characters experienced hurts
that caused them to be bro-
ken.
At the break, the stu-
dents reassembled and dis-
cussed the brokenness of each
character, and their road to
healing. The students then
wrote down their own broken-
ness or hurt on a piece of pa-
The lesson for the first
all-school Lenten Day of Rec-
ollection was “to be broken
and then redeemed.” Jesus
never gives up on us when we
are damaged from our sinful
condition. The movie, Seabis-
cuit, was used to teach the
students that no matter what
trials and tribulations one
may experience, with God’s
help, a person can rise in tri-
umph.
The day started with
Mass, as an introduction to
the day’s activities. Students
were then instructed to go
back to school and assemble
in their Houses. The Peer
Ministers from each House
opened with a reading from
St. Paul’s letter to the Ro-
mans, followed by discussion
on why God’s creation is bro-
per that was taken to church
for the final prayer service.
The students then en-
joyed their sack lunches be-
fore watching the second part
of the movie.
Following the film, they
gathered in church, reflected
on the day’s lesson, and of-
fered up their brokenness to
God. The day ended with the
Chaplet of Divine Mercy and
Father Loseke distributed a
pocket medal to each student
as reminder of God’s love for
them.

Girls Basketball- The 2015-2016 campaign
ended with a loss to Ponca in the second round of
the C2-4 Subdistrict Tournament leaving us with
a 16-9 record on the season. We say goodbye to
five amazing Seniors who have left an indelible
mark on our program. To go from a 5-19 record as
Sophomores to 16-9 as Seniors is remarkable and
truly shows what hard work can achieve. The
team is in good shape moving forward, in addition
to the incoming freshman class we return 3 of our
top 4 leading scorers, our top free throw shooter by
% as well as our top 2 shooters in both 2pt FG and
3pt FG shooting %. Thank you for all of the sup-
port this season, nothing you do goes unnoticed or
unappreciated.
A Recap on Our Winter Activities
Page 5 The Trojan Times
Boys Basketball- On Monday, February 29th the
Trojan Boys Basketball Team lost to the Winne-
bago Indians, 44-60 in the District Final at Wayne
State College. Our boys displayed a hard fight in
the first half of the game but falling short to the
fast-paced Winnebago Indians in the second half.
Overall for the season the boys finished 13-12. The
team will graduate four seniors, Bryce Lammers,
Jay Reifenrath, Jack Steffen, and Sam Anderson.
Great season Trojans!
Wrestling- The Cedar wrestling team had a very exciting
start to the season with a lot of new wrestlers joining the
team. With only a few returning wrestlers, the team was
very young and had to work extra hard to match up with
some of the more experienced competition. Even with the
lack of experience, the wrestlers had a very successful season.
They picked up numerous medals throughout the year and
improved throughout the season. The team was able to show-
case all of their improvements at the District B-2 wrestling
meet to finish out the season. All of their hard work lead to
multiple wins and five wrestlers falling shy of the state tour-
nament by one match. With no one graduating, the team
looks forward to a successful season next year!
