The parable of the Mustard seed is a favorite parable for children. The wild mustard seed is so small that it is hard to see it. People sometimes come to me talking as though their faith is gone, nowhere to be found. If even a small trace of faith is there, then the whole life in God is still possible. Our hope is not in the size of our faith, it is in the size of God’s promise. He can take our little faith and grow a mature full-size tree. He can use our Hope to fill others with a glimmer of Hope. He can use a small measure of Love to grow love grown cold. A small portion may be all we have. According to Jesus that is all we need to start again.

Thank You for Earning Fry’s Community Rewards For Our Parish! Our parish received $455.21 from Fry’s Community Rewards Program thanks to 103 households who shopped at Fry’s between 12-1-17 and 2-28-18. If you have not already done so, please link your Fry’s V.I.P. card to St. Mary’s Parish and a portion of what you spend will be donated to your parish every time you make a purchase with your V.I.P. Card. You can link your card online at www.fryscommunityrewards.com ; use NPO #80071. This is an easy way to earn money for your parish and it doesn’t cost you anything! The Kroger Family of Stores (Fry’s) will not share your personal information.

Enthronement to the Sacred Heart of Jesus It is a way of life which brings many blessings to the family, to the parish and eventually to the community. The Legion of Mary Invites you to Enthrone the Sacred Heart of Jesus in your home. Contact: Terry Thomas Cell: 602.410.2130, Home: 480.899.9768.

Funeral Assistants Urgently Needed St. Mary’s/St. Juan Diego Grief & Bereavement Ministry is in need of volunteers to provide assistance & support during the difficult time of making arrangements for a lost loved one. Last year we had 86 funerals and we expect even more this year. There is an urgent need for Funeral Assistants to assist with the planning of the Funeral Mass/Service, and helping the day of the funeral. This would require approximately 2 to 4 hours of your time per month. We are also looking for assistance with “Angel Food” – a ministry in which several volunteers provide food so that a meal can be given to the family on the day of the funeral planning. Please contact Fran Sanders (English), 480.963.3207or Martha Villa (Spanish), 602.300.0984

Office of the Resurrection & “Lazarus, Come Out!” Join us in the Chapel at St. Mary's Church every 2nd Sunday of the month at 8:15pm to live a real encounter with the resurrected Christ, present in the midst of a small group of His Church. Bring our sick brothers and sisters. For more info, please call Fran Sanders at 480.963.3207 x107 or visit www.eucharistic-heart.org

Contact Deborah Burgesser at 480.318.5860; [email protected]

Chapel Ministry, Anyone? Set-up assistance is needed on Sunday evenings at St. Mary’s to prepare the chapel for opening at 7:45pm – this takes maybe 15 minutes. Cleaning of the chapel is needed every Sunday at 2pm. This is light dusting & vacuuming that takes perhaps 30 minutes. If you’d like to help, please contact Cherise Bennett at 480.963.3207 x131.

Sunday Help Still Needed at STM Parish Office Assistance is still needed in the Front Office one Sunday per month from 9am-2pm. If you are interested, please contact Ramona Murga at 480.963.3207 x101.

Looking for a Group for Adults with Disabilities? Please let us know if you are interested in a faith and fellowship group for adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. This group, which would be for individuals over the age of 18, does not yet exist, but we are trying to gauge interest in forming one. We would also like to hear from those who would be interested in helping in this kind of ministry.

Special Education for Religious Education St. Mary's welcomes and includes children with disabilities into its Religious Education program.

Contact: Anne Marie Kresge 480.963.3207 x130 or [email protected]

• We work with families and catechists to provide religious education, including sacrament preparation, to children with all types of disabilities and of all ages. Support provided is based on the needs of the child and ranges from accommodations in a typical class to small-sized special education classes to 1-on-1 instruction. Please call or email for more information and to get started registering your child for Religious Education in the Fall.

• We need VOLUNTEERS to help provide a positive faith experience for children with special needs. Opportunities include acting as an aide for a child in a typical RE class, helping in a small RE class designed for children with developmental disabilities, being available as a substitute aide, and prepping materials. Experience is not necessary but helpful. This can also be a great opportunity for a responsible high school student who needs service hours or for someone exploring a career in disability services. Training provided. Please call or email if interested.
