November 2013
Executive Board Meeting-first Tuesday of the month. HOA meetings-third Tuesday of
July, October, January and April. Clubhouse Telephone-788-9496.
Geri M. Chiulli, Editor—12 Cranberry Run—[email protected]
November is upon us, the theme of Thanksgiving is what the month of November
means to us. A time to reflect and to give thanks for all our blessings. Blessings
fr our family, friends and neighbors, our great country and our wonderful soldiers,
their families and, of course, our incredible veterans. We would not be who we
are today without you, bravely fighting for our freedom. We thank you on Veter-
ans Day and all year long for making such a difference in everyone’s life. Let us
all pray for PEACE.
Housekeeping in The Village:
House power washing continues with Dwight and Denis Kenyon, $95/house
and now heat tape checks for $25.00. Please call the office to be added to his
list. Office phone—792.7107.
Gutter cleaning by Jay Knowles of Advanced Seamless Gutters. Homes in
the Village for $50/house … those with Gutter Guards can call for an esti-
mate, the office will also have his list.
Snow Plowing will again be done by Joe Fuller for Village streets. Those
interested for plowing private driveways and a walkway, 4-inch storm price is
$25.00; each addition 2-inches of snow adds another $10.00. So if we have a
6-inch snow storm, the price would be $35.00 for a driveway and walkway.
Each vendor will be paid separately, with a check payable to them.
Fall Fertilizing was completed in October by Fuller Lawns.
Carol Barstow of Cranberry Run is organizing all our house keys and mail keys
for us at the office. This is a courtesy for those residents who would like us to
keep an extra house key and/or mail key in the event of an emergency or lock-out.
This is not mandatory, just an option if you have a tendency to misplace keys.
Please bring a copy of your key to the office.
Food donations continue to the Jonnycake Center with the donation box at the
office. Thank you to George Combs who just delivered 125 pounds of food from
the Village. THANK YOU to all our generous residents.
Officials blame bathroom wipes for sewer clogs, towelettes labeled as flushable
reportedly fail to break down. PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH THEM, THEY WILL
DESTROY THE SEPTIC SYSTEM.
Free notary service continues at the office, just give Lisa a call.
Please leave your lamp post on for safe traveling in the evening.
The Village Newsletter is now online along with our monthly calendar. Go to
www.villageatwordenspond.com, click on community. Thank you to our wonder-
ful Editor, Geri Chiulli, we couldn’t do it with you, many thanks!
CELEBRATE, BE THANKFUL AND ENJOY NOVEMBER.
Peace, Lisa and Anita

Message from Victoria Clare, President of Village Homeowners Association News
At our last meeting, I was voted in as Interim President. I became a resident in July
2013 and look forward to working with the Executive Committee and Trustees in carry-
ing out the objectives of the Association: “To promote sociability” and to “encourage
improvement within the confines of the rules and regulations of The Village at Wordens
Pond.” Let’s meet one another and have some fun over the coming winter!
Our Christmas party will take place on December 8th with delicious appetizers and re-
freshments presented by our one and only Barbara Keaney. There will be sign-up sheets
at the mailboxes. Details to follow …
John Christy, President of the Union Fire Department, com-
mented at our last meeting how difficult it is for rescue crews and
EMT to locate those with emergencies due to the lack of lighting
and visible house numbers at VWP. One of our residents recalled
having the rescue truck stop at her house recently because they
could not find the location of the person who called in … delay-
ing an emergency process. He urged us all to keep our lamps lit at
night and better identify our homes. Reflective, stick-on numbers
on a wooden stake (see illustration) or on your lamp post are in-
expensive. The use of a dawn-to-dusk sensor in our lamps, along
with a fluorescent bulb, will cost very little and will eliminate the
need to remember to turn on and off our lamps. The life you save many be your
own!
Sign-up sheets will be posted at our mail centers for discount sensors and bulbs
which will be ordered from Jerry’s Hardware. If you have not yet set up your
lamp post with automatic sensors, now is the time to do it. If you need help,
call Bruce Fromm (783-8749) and he will assist you to install the sensors or to
put up your street signage.
The Homeowners Association wishes you and your family a
Happy Thanksgiving

Patricia Brow reporting.—Ladies Club members … by the time you

Maine.

you a Happy Thanksgiving holiday.
There will be sign-up sheets for the Christmas Holiday Dinner for La-
dies Club members to be held on December 12, 2013 at the Spain Res-

the Village of Wordens Pond before December 10th. No checks or
money will be accepted on the evening of the dinner. The meal choices
will be sirloin steak, veal or salmon.

this year. There will be no meetings in January or February.
The first meeting of the New Year 2014 will be held on March 13th at
