Administrator’s Corner The Nativity Of The Lord (Christmas), December 25, 2016

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Infant Jesus!

Merry Christmas In the great spirit of peace and joy as we celebrate the Birthday of Our Lord and Savior, together with Father Wayne, Father Agustin, Deacon Dong, Deacon Rafael, Sister Francesca, and Mrs. Alvarado, we would like to wish all of you, all councils, Spanish, Vietnamese and Filipino ministries, organizations, groups, benefactors, staff, and the entire parish, Church & School, a blessed peace and a joyful Christmas! May the Infant Jesus dwell in your hearts and in your homes. I want to take this joyful time to also express our deepest appreciation to all of you for your love, generosity, prayer and support of our parish throughout the year. I hope that in the coming New Year 2017, you will continue to be more generous in your financial support so we can build the Pastoral Center and remodel the existing hall, kitchen and offices soon. With gratitude in Christ, Fr. Bao

Continuation from last week Fr. Agustin’s Letter

St. Augustine in his Book of Confessions wrote, “You made us to yourself and our hearts rest in you.” It is up to each of us to look for that rest, that rest that we can find in Him alone. St. Augustine continues, “How shall I find rest in you? Who will send you into my heart to flood it, that I may forget my woes and embrace you my only God. The house of my soul is narrow, enlarge it that you may enter. It is in ruins, repair it.” (Confessions 1:5). “Late have I loved you, O Beauty, ever ancient and ever new. Late have I loved you! You were with me, but I was outside seeking there for you, and upon the lovely things you have made. You were with me but I was not with you. They held me back far from you, those things that would have no being, they were not in you. You called, shouted, and broke through my deafness. You flared, blazed and banished my blindness. You lavished your fragrance. I gasped and now I pant for you. I tasted you and now I hunger and thirst for more. You touched me and I burned for your peace”. (Confessions 19, 26, 37:29, 40). Let us then accept Jesus’ invitation to come and rest in Him alone as the most powerful way to face and accept peacefully whatever comes to us in our daily journey. But how to rest in Him without having a daily time of prayer and meditation? Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India’s most ancient techniques of meditation. The best way to control our “monkey minds.” It was rediscovered by Buddha more than 2500 years ago and was taught by Him as a uni-versal remedy for human ills. This non-sectarian technique aims for the total eradication of mental impurities in order to get full liberation. So, as a Catholic Priest, I make use of the powerful tool of meditation to surrender myself into God’s hands. It is during this meditation, God cleanses my mind and purifies my heart making me to his own image little by little.

Merry Christmas and Health and Mental Peace in 2017

BUILDING UPDATE

You may or may not know that there are two buildings planned for the open area behind here between the church and the houses.

We have just learned that the Diocese has approved the entire building project and we are clear to submit to the City of Tustin for Planning review and ap-proval. One portion is a 2-story building for meeting rooms. Some of the spaces are expandable using movable walls. It will also have restrooms on both floors, and an elevator. This building will be located on area that is currently the front grass and the small parking lot. The Diocese has approved our building project and directed us to submit to the City of Tustin for Plan-ning review and approval.

Tú me tocaste y me encendiste de Tú paz.” (Confesiones 19, 26, 37).

QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS (QCD’S)

FROM AN IRA

If you are over 70 1/2 and taking distri-butions from an IRA, you may want to consider making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).

QCD’s can be counted towards satisfying your re-quired minimum distributions (RMD’s) for the year.

A QCD excludes the amount donated from taxable income. Keeping your taxable income lower may reduce the impact on certain tax credits and deduc-tions, including Social Security and Medicare.

Please consult your tax advisor to determine if making a QCD to St. Cecilia is appropriate for your situation.
