With just a week to go, we have many events to take note of: Friday 7th December: our last normal assembly for 2018 (8.30 – 9.30am) Monday 10th December: our whole school Awards Assembly for 2018 (8.30 10.00am) Tuesday 11th December: Whole school movie excursion and class parties Wednesday 12th December: Wet and Mucky Day Thursday 13th December: Duracks Got Talent As with most schools and communities in the Northern Territory, there are lots of goodbyes at this time of year for staff and students. Of course this includes our Year 6 students moving onto middle school, which we farewelled this Tuesday night, but also a number of families leaving for interstate. Sadly, we are also saying goodbye to some fabulous teachers, see our goodbyes on the next page. Next Wednesday 12th December, we will be sending student reports home in a sealed white envelope. If you are going on holidays early, these will be at school for you to pick up on your return. Alternatively, you may leave a forwarding address at the office and we can post these to you. The reports are the culmination of the full school year and are reporting on your childs achievement for their year level. Please see further information in this newsletter, which describes the student reports and what the grades mean. For any other information please contact your childs teacher or Felicity Green our Assistant Principal, who leads reporting in our school. This week is our last Friday assembly! We have Miss HawkinsYear 3/4 class sharing their learning with us, as well as the draw of our Christmas raffle and our On Track at Durack awards. I hope you can join us. I would also like to wish you and your family a very safe and happy holiday. I look forward to welcoming everyone again in the New Year. Goodbye & Good Luck

Student Reports The Australian Curriculum provides teachers and parents, across Australia, with a clear understanding of what stu-dents need to learn at each year level in the form of Achievement standards. A–E grades show learning against your child’s current year level achievement standard. The grades awarded on the student report are based on demonstration of: A = Evidence of learning demonstrates outstanding achievement at this year level.

B = Evidence of learning demonstrates high achievement at this year level.

C = Evidence of learning demonstrates sound achievement at this year level.

D = Evidence of learning demonstrates limited achievement at this year level.

E = Evidence of learning demonstrates very limited achievement at this year level.

It is important that you read the report comments carefully as these will describe your child’s progress this semester. For students with a current Educational Adjustment Plan, progress against their learning goals will be included in this report. Remember that a C grade indicates that your child is working at an expected level against the achievement standards for children of their age and that their learning is on track. Transition students will receive a report con-taining a written comment and an effort rating, but not A–E grades.

Miss Tak and Miss Hawkins joined us late this year, but fitted in beautifully and worked fantastically with their classes. Thank you to them both for their help and we wish them all the best in future.

Miss Beaton joined our school part way through 2017 and is currently a fabulous Year 3/4 teacher who is leaving the Territory and returning to Victoria with her partner.

A message from Miss Beaton “Working within the Northern Territory has provided me with a unique, dynamic and rewarding teaching experience. Thank you to the parents, students and teachers of Durack School for ongoing support throughout the last 18 months. It has been a privilege to work with the students of Durack and I wish them all the very best for the years to come. I will never forget my experience at Durack School. I would like to wish the Durack community a Merry Christmas and Happy new year!”

We were fortunate to have Ms Brannelly join us this term as an additional Assistant Principal. She has done some fantastic work with students, families and teachers this term and will be missed by many.

Miss Amy from Preschool is taking leave in 2019, to finish off her studies. She will be missed and we look forward to her joining us again in 2020. Happy studying Miss Amy!
