About us…Merit scada automation pvt ltd ( ISO 9001:2008) is a leading system solutions and electronic Manufacturing company providing SCADA Solutions for Indian Railways – 25 KVA Traction power Distribution , Substation SCADA for Substation Automation and Unified Utility wise Traction Monitoring System (UUTMS) Solutions for monitoring and controlling various Traction load factors(Telemetery). Complex project management capabilitiesSince its incorporation in 2002, merit has an enviable record of successfully building SCADA Solutions for Railway - 25 KV Traction Power Distribution covering number of Traction substation ( TSS ) along with SP. SSP for long distance railway network of more than 400 KM controlled by a Single Remote control center(RCC )

We have executed more than 12 SCADA Projects all over india consisting of 12 RCC and approximately around 300 RTU’S to control and monitor 7000 Trction KM Take for instance just three of the many major Turnkey projects

SCADA For control and monitor 25 KVA Traction Power line From PALASA to BADHREK and sidelines Of Kurdha Division of East Coast Railway for the distance of 371 KM consisting of 52 Substation From Remote control center ( RCC) – KURDHA ROAD.

SCADA For control and monitor 25 KVA Traction Power line From Jarsiguda-Chakraderpur-Tatanager and sidelines Of Chakraderpur Division of Southeastern Railway for the distance of 371 KM consisting of 46 Substation From Remote control center ( RCC) – CHAKRADERPUR.

Merit’s Traction SCADA for Indian Railways Keeping the critical requirements of the Railways in mind, MERIT has developed the standard electric traction SCADA software (Traction scada) on the Windows platform to control and monitor 25 KVA Traction power line ( more than 30 substation spread over more than 300 km per installation ) by the railway operator from a centralized Remote Control Center ( RCC ).

Pioneers in Railway SCADA :MERIT is one of the few organizations who have been supplying Traction SCADA system to the INDIAN RAILWAYS, since the past 11 years with more than 14 successful installations. Virtually any requirement of SCADA system in railways is synonymous with MERIT.

Beginning with IRTU 3000/4000 (Technology Transferred from ALS-USA) system, MERIT has progressively offered the railways, a SCADA system that is the software developed in Latest WINDOWS Platform and RTU Off latest Phillips Microcontroller based PLC , technologically up to date with the best in the world.

Major Subsystems of SCADA:Remote control center ( RCC ) : Consisting of 10 computers Named as Master, standby, FEP and OWS ( Operator work station ) computers connected in dual local area network , The Overall SCADA Software has been split in to different subsystems and loaded in the above named computers to perform their Specific Task

Remote Terminal Unit ( RTU ) : Merit Make RTU consisting of Micro controller based PLC ( CPU, DI , DO and AI ) , Power Supply, Catnery Modules, Contactors, MODEM and Energy Meter installed in various Substation like SP, SSP , FP and TSS collect the data relating to substation like Voltage, current , MD, PF, Open or Close Status of BM/CB’S , Catnery ..etc and perform the control operation like OPEN/CLOSE the BM and CB’S , Transformer Tape Changing ..etc as per the requirement of the operator From Remote control center ( RCC). The WAN communication between RCC and Various RTU is through Line Modem as well as through GSM.

Major Features of Traction SCADA Systems:The software consists of a set of closely interacting software modules that carry out the functions of real-time data

acquisition and supervisory control, data processing, handling operator interactions and report generation.

The functions of the SCADA system are:

Acquiring Analog and digital data from field equipment

Processing the acquired data Generating online alarms and events

Control of circuit breakers and Interrupters located in the sub-station and switching stations

Logging the data relating to the field inputs in to the database

Presenting the on line Graphical display of BM , CB and Catnery Positions

Generating alarm, event reports and graphical reports for Voltage, current, PF and MD

FEP Process:

This sub-system resides in the FEP Computer. It handles data acquisition from and control to the field. Tele-metered parameters like voltage and current are captured using remote terminal units (RTUs), which are connected to suitable field instrumentation like meters, transducers, etc. The acquired data is processed to make it relatively protocol-free and is updated in the local database. The changed data (report by exception) is sent to the main sub-system.

The dual-redundant FEP provides a high reliability to the field interface. When the host system fails, the FEP continues to acquire data from the field and buffers it locally. After the re-establishment of communication with the host, this buffered data is uploaded. This provides the end-user with the exact timing details of status events.

CONTROL Processes:

Some of the analog, discrete and accumulated values received from the field may be raw values. They are converted to engineering values, based on pre-defined equations, using linear, non-linear look-up tables. Each point in the system can have a separate equation depending on its field connectivity. The calculated values are also checked for their validity. Reasonable values are passed on for further processing.

NETWORK Processes:

This is process control and monitor the data transfer between various subsystems through TCP/IP and assigning the priory in data transfer between data loging and control output enabling process.

FTX Processes:

The system has a high degree of fault-tolerance, to handle failures at various levels in the hardware and software modules. Redundancy is provided for all critical modules of hardware, such as FEP, master system and software modules. If critical components fail — including a critical software task in the active system — the standby system takes over within a few seconds.

DBS Processes:

Logging the Various field parameters and generating the report as per the requirement is controlled by this process . All the analog , event and alarm data’s from the field is getting logged in a powerful SQL Database and this process generates reports on system data. The software supports easy report configuration, with which a set of new reports can be configured for each application. The operator can create and print reports on any logged data, on demand. The system can be configured for periodic automatic printing of certain reports.

OWS Processes :

Monitoring and control of the user interactions with the field, is done through the Operator interface console (OWS ). This full-graphic user-friendly interface provides acquired data through single line diagrams and tabular formats.

The MMI is based on a Windows graphical user interface (GUI). It supports features like concurrent display of multiple windows, resizing and positioning of windows, and multiple page display screens with scrolling.

This display consists of a real-time data presentation to the operator in full-graphic pictorial form, single line diagrams / schematics, tables, lists, icons, graphs, text, user-defined symbols and dynamic data display. Dynamic data on these pictures and tables are updated with the latest data on change.

Technical Description of UUTMS:The UUTMS System - From Remote control center (RCC) enables the Traction Power Controller (TPC) to monitor the simultaneous integrated maximum demand of a number of traction sub station ( TSS ) falling with in a state electricity board. He can also monitor Various Parameters like Instantaneous Voltage (V ), Current ( C) , Maximum demand ( MD ) , Power factor ( PF ) , Raising demand ( RPF ) Average power factor (APF) , Present KWH Reading, Present KVAH Reading, Present KVARH Lead Reading, Lag Reading from Various Traction Sub Stations ( TSS ) Spread over entire Division.
