MERETRIO was brought together in São Paulo - Brazil in 2004,as an initiative of EMILIANO Sampaio (guitar and trombone),GUSTAVO Boni (acoustic and electric bass) and LUIS ANDRÉ (drums
and percussion).
Since its inception, the group has consistently explored thecreativity in instrumental music, developing a work that mixesBrazilian rhythms, jazz elements and chamber music approach.
Meretrio also developed diverse projects during the years withother instrumentations such as quartet, nonet, big band, etc.
In 2015, Meretrio released an ambitious big band albumnamed“Tourists” with Big Band instrumentation, which won fourstars from the Downbeat magazine.
Meretrio´s album “Óbvio” (2017) got four stars from Downbeatmagazine and entered in the list “best albums of the year 2017”.
In 2019, Meretrio released two new albums (covers at the side):“Music for Small and Large Ensembles”, exploring the possibilitiesof mixing loop-machine with the acoustic trio; and the album“Passagem” featuring the German Saxophonist Heinrich vonKalnein.
