Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

“THREE” TO GET MARRIED! Catholics entering into marriage through the Catholic

Church understand that there is a hidden presence of Jesus in the coupleness. Next Sunday 10 couples of the Sudbury region will be present to take part in a time of prayer and reflection as they prepare for a 2017 wedding. St. Patrick’s has offered this preparation for two years now as a way to assist other parishes. Since the Family Enrichment Centre closed this is a one way the parishes of

Sudbury serve these couples. A team of Robert & Erin Schinke (parishioners), deacon Bruno & Jennifer Michel (Our Lady of Hope) and myself offer what we can to help couples realize the presence of Jesus in their married lives.

“The more we are exposed to the sufferings of the poor,

the deeper our compassion becomes.” (Albert Nolan, O.P.) In July

2016, the Canadian Organization for Development and Peace –Caritas Canada, (D&P), organized a solidarity trip/exposure tour to Ethiopia in the drought stricken Horn of Africa. Inspired by Gospel values and in particular the preferential option for the poor, D&P’s objectives are to support the actions of people in the Global South so that they can take control of their destiny and educate Canadians on issues related to North-South imbalance. Participants on this exposure tour were from Ontario and British Columbia. Rose-Marie Valade, of Sault Ste. Marie, will be here at St. Patrick’s Church at 7 pm on Thursday, September 29th, to share her experiences as she traveled throughout Ethiopia observing D&P’s long-term humanitarian and development programs.
