Anna Ochoa O’Leary, PhDDr. Anna Ochoa O’Leary, Mexican American Studies Department Head, received her doctorate in Anthropology from the University of Arizona. Her dissertation, “Investment in Female Education as an Economic Strategy among U.S.-Mexican Households in Nogales, Arizona,” was supported by NSF funding. Since 2002, she has taught a range of classes for the Department. Currently, she teaches two graduate classes,

Mexican Migration, and the Feminization of Migration, and an undergraduate class, Latin American Migration and the Remaking of the U.S.

She has a text book to her credit, a Chicano Studies textbook based on her teach-ing Overview of Mexican American Studies (MAS 265), which was published in 2007 by Kendall Hunt Publishing. More recently, she co-edited ) Unchartered Terrain: New Directions in Border Research Method and Ethics. (University of Arizona Press, 2013) and is editor of Undocumented Immigrants in the United States Today: An Encyclopedia of their Experiences (ABC-CLIO/Greenwood Press, 2014).

Antonio L. Estrada, MSPH, PhDAntonio L. Estrada, MSPH, PhD, is Professor of Mexican American Studies and Public Health at the University of Arizona. He received his Ph.D. and MS degrees in Public Health with training in Behavioral Sciences/Health Education, Social Epidemiology, and Evaluation Research from the UCLA School of Public Health. His research interests include HIV disease among injection drug users and their sexual partners, prevention with HIV

positives, and Hispanic/Latino health disparities. He has been the Principal Investigator on two R01 research grants, a NIH minority supplement, has served as Co-Principal Investigator on three NIH funded grants and has received State and private foundation funding for his research. He is co-author of Sana! Sana! Mexican Americans and Health, second edition (forthcoming, UA Press).

Howard Eng, DrPH, MS, RPhDr. Eng is Assistant Professor in Public Health and Pharmacy Practice and Sciences and Director of the Southwest Border Rural Health Research Center, Arizona Rural Heath Office in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona. He has 40 years of experi-ence working in health care, including 28 years as a health services/policy researcher and 22 years of experience working in rural Arizona,

He has been a faculty member in the Colleges of Pharmacy, Medicine, and Public Health. Dr. Eng’s training and expertise includes health services and policy research, health economics, epidemiology, public health, border health, rural health, and pharmacy. He has more than 20 years of experience working along U.S.-Mexico Border on various projects that have increased access to health services by border populations. His border health research interests include issues related to access and barriers to health services, binational health care delivery systems, cross border health services usage, monitoring Healthy Border 2010 achievements, and role of community health workers (promotores) in health promotion and disease prevention. Dr. Eng was selected by the White House as a Champion of Change and was honored at the White House on April 24, 2014.
