Remontándonos a los inicios de la exploración, la humanidad se ha desarrollado en la necesidad de indagar

en lo desconocido y reconocer los territorios inhabitados. Guiados por el impulso y un agudo sentido de

dirección, los exploradores pioneros eran filósofos que se enfrascaron en odiseas de extraordinaria aventura y

descubrimiento. La Era del Renacimiento trajo una manera audaz de interpretar el mundo a través del desa-

rrollo del Método Cartesiano gracias al trabajo de René Descartes, quien estableció las bases para el perfec-

Dating back to the early days of exploration, human kind has been compelled to seek out uncharted territory. Guided

by impulse and keen direction, early explorers were philosophers who set out on journeys of extraordinary adventure

and discovery. The Age of Enlightenment brought a bold way of interpreting the world through the development of the

Cartesian Method and the work of Rene Descartes gave the foundation for the “Cartesian Coordinate system,” the basis

for the elegant practice of map-making. Thus the exploration in cartography fundamentally changed the world perspective.

Tradicionalmente los mapas son documentos que plasman la verdad esencialmente; interpretan el mundo

como realmente es, con un vasto grado de precisión. La búsqueda por continuar promulgando la verdad,

ha sido un asunto de gran importancia para la sociedad Occidental desde la Edad Media y continúa in-

fluenciando nuestro sentido de orientación en la vida. Un mapa da forma a nuestras suposiciones de cómo

podemos conocer y medir el mundo, es tanto una forma de percibir el mundo, ofreciendo un marco para el

conocimiento, y una serie de aseveraciones sobre el mundo mismo. Así, se manifiesta una separación entre

el sentido de percepción del lugar – de lo que es o podría ser el mundo – y la representación del mundo

como un hecho. Esto sucede cuando el creador del mapa observa el mapa pero no el entorno realmente.

Maps traditionally seek to be truth documents; they represent the world as it really is with a known degree of precision.

The quest for producing truth has been a preoccupation of Western society since the middle ages, and continues to influen-

ce our sense of orientation in life. A map shapes our assumptions about how we can know and measure the world, and

our capacity to engage in the world. A map, in its esthetic and functional essence, is both a way of thinking about the

world, offering a framework for knowledge, and a set of assertions about the world itself. And so, there is a separation

between the sense of place – of what the world is or might be - and the representation of the world as fact. This happens

when the map maker is seeing the map, and not the landscape itself.

El enfoque de la experiencia del Cartesiano Spa es guiar a nuestros huéspedes hacia su “norte

magnético”. Al entrar al Spa, se alienta al huésped a tomarse un tiempo para la contemplación,

la relajación y la reflexión, conduciéndolo hacia una sensación más profunda de conexión y

resolución. Limpiar el estrés y la presión abrirá el espacio para la creatividad y empezará a

restaurar el equilibrio hacia un estado natural de bienestar. Los tratamientos del menú crean

The focus of the Cartesiano Spa experience is to guide our guest toward their “magnetic north.” Upon

entering the Spa, the guest is encouraged to take time for contemplation, relaxation and reflection, leading

to a deeper sense of connection and resolution. Clearing stress and pressure will open the space for creativity

and begin to restore balance to a natural state of well-being. The menu of treatments creates a unique balance

between the scientific and intuitive method, the fusion of modern Cartesian dualism and a natural holistic

balance, where treatments serve to unify the aspects of physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Each Wellness Axis Package will include a BioWell technology diagnostic and consultation to determine

your unique wellness signature and personalized needs. Each therapeutic session will include a cleansing

Exfoliation, Mind-Body Massage, Advanced Facial and Transformative Treatment, along with the BioWell

post-therapy assessment. The program can be built in an individual session, or over several visits.

The skilled support of the therapist will guide the guests through a treatment program based on 4 pillars:

¿Cuánto tiempo necesito para mi visita al SPA?

Recomendamos registrarse en el SPA por lo menos 1 hora antes de su tratamiento

para aprovechar al máximo las experiencias de calor y la sala de relajación. Tiene la

opción de traer un traje de baño para su comodidad.

How much time do I need for my SPA visit?

We recommend that you check in at the SPA reception at least 1 hour prior to your treatment

in order to take full advantage of the heat experiences and the relaxation lounge. You have the

opinion of bringing a bathing suit for your comfort.

¿Cómo puedo usar de la mejor manera las experiencias de calor?

Los cuartos con experiencias de calor están diseñados para funcionar como un

tratamiento independiente, basados en las filosofías tradicionales del SPA de las

“aguas curativas”. Le recomendamos alternar entre cada experiencia de calor

(piscina de vitalidad, sala de vapor, sauna), y cada experiencia de frío (fuente de

hielo, piscina climatizada), pasando de 10 a 15 minutos en cada una. Las piscinas

ofrecen diferentes temperaturas y fuerzas para escoger. Al crear un circuito con

How can I best use the heat experiences?

The heat experience rooms are designed to be an entire treatment in themselves, based on

the traditional philosophies of the SPA at “healing waters.” We encourage you to alternate

between each heat experience (vitality pool, steam room, sauna), and each cool experience

(ice fountain, cool plunge pool), spending 10-15 minutes in each. The experience showers

offer several different temperatures and pressure to choose from. By creating a circuit with

the experiences, your body will naturally begin to ease tension and release toxins, allowing

for your treatment to be that much deeper. We do not recommend these experiences for

guests who have high blood pressure or are pregnant.

¿Puedo comer antes de mi tratamiento en el SPA?

No recomendamos comer una comida sustanciosa antes de su visita al SPA, sin

embargo, una comida ligera por lo menos dos horas antes de su servicio va a

prevenir que se sienta muy hambientro durante su tratamiento y tampoco se va a

sentir muy lleno.

Can I eat prior to my SPA treatments?

We do not recommend eating a large meal before your SPA visit, however, a light meal at

least two hours before your service will prevent you from feeling too hungry during your

treatment, and neither will you be very full.

¿Puedo tomar alcohol después de mi tratamiento?

Es mejor evitar el alcohol y la cafeina antes y después de su tratamiento como

masaje o hidroterapia. Los aceites esenciales puros también suelen incrementar el

Can I drink alcohol after my treatments?

It is best to avoid alcohol and caffeine prior and after to your treatment as massage or

hydrotherapy. The pure essential oils will also often increase the effects of the stimulants.

In order for you to receive the full benefits of the treatment, and for the sake of all SPA

guests, we ask that you turn off all your electronic devices and leave them in the lockers

provided for you, if not in your hotel room.

Es mejor dejar los objetos de valor en casa. Usted contará con un locker privado,

Do you have a place to store my valuables?

Valuables are best left at home. You will have a private locker, however, we encourage you to

leave as much of your belongings at home as possible. Please do not wear valuables into the

heat experiences and the treatment rooms. We regret that we cannot be responsible for any loss

or damage of personal articles. For your pleasure we provide your necessary amenities, showers,

robes, slippers and lockers.

What forms of payment do you accept?

All forms of payment are accepted expect for personal checks, and for your convenience, an

18% gratuity will be added to your final bill for each service.

Si los tratamientos son cancelados en un periodo de 24 horas, ofrecemos una

política de cancelación del 100% del costo del tratamiento. Dependiendo de la

flexibilidad de la agenda de citas, siempre intentaremos adaptar cada experiencia

en base a sus necesidades del día. Los alentamos a reservar un “Ritual de tiempo”

para que nuestros terapeutas trabajen con ustedes para crear sus tratamientos. Los

servicios contratados no necesariamente están proporcionados en el mismo orden

que aparecen en el catálogo.

What if I change my mind about the treatments when I arrive?

If the treatments are cancelled within a 24 hour period, we honor a cancellation policy of

100% of the treatment cost. Within the flexibility of the appointment schedule, we will always

try to tailor make each experience for you based on your needs of the day. We encourage the

opinion of booking a “Time Ritual” which will allow our therapists to work with you in

designing the treatments. Booked services are not necessarily provided in the same order as

listed in the brochure.

¿Cuentan con gimnasio y alberca que pueda usar?

Cartesiano cuenta con una alberca y un gimnasio disponibles para todos los

huéspedes del hotel durante las horas de servicio. Con un paquete de SPA de 4

horas o más, todos los huéspedes del SPA son bienvenidos a usar las facilidades

durante todo el día.

Is there a gym and a pool that I may use?

Cartesiano has a pool and fitness center available for all hotel guests during operating

hours. With a SPA package of 4 hours or more, SPA guests are welcomed to use the

facilities all day.

¿Existe algún lugar en donde me pueda relajar después de mi tratamiento?

Si, los alentamos a tomarse el tiempo de procesar los sutiles efectos de su

tratamiento antes de regresar al mundo real. Su terapista lo regresará a la sala de

relajamiento donde podrá encontrar bebidas de temporada y frutas. Le sugerimos

no regresar a las experiencias de calor o bañarse para dejar que los productos de

la aromaterapia continúen su efecto hasta 8 horas después de su servicio. Por favor

intentar no realizar actividades extenuantes después de su experiencia en el SPA

Is there a place for me to relax after my treatment?

Yes, we encourage you to take time to process the subtle effects of the treatments before

going back out into the world. Your therapist will bring you back to the relaxation lounge

where you can find seasonal beverages and fruits. We suggest not returning to the heat

experiences or showering off to allow the aromatherapy products to continue their effects

for up to 8 hours after your service. Please try to limit strenous activities after your SPA

experience to feel the maximum benefits of your selected services.

¿Puedo comprar productos para utilizar en casa?

Si, se pueden comprar productos para extender los beneficios de su tratamiento. Las

líneas de productos de Aromatherapy Associates y Dr. Hauschka están disponibles

Can I purchase products for home use?

Yes, you can purchase products to further the benefits of your treatment. The natural

product lines of Aromatherapy Associates and Dr. Hauschka are available in the SPA and

your therapists will make more recommendations.

Will the massage hurt?

The important thing to remember is that, as the client, you are in control of the pressure.

Most massage therapists will ask at the beginning of the massage what kind of pressure

you like, and you can indicate then that you want a relatively light touch. If the massage is

painful, ask for less pressure.

¿Tengo que preocuparme sobre usar ropa interior apropiada para mi tratamiento?

Los invitamos a desvestirse hasta donde lo permita su nivel de comfort. Nuestros

terapeutas trabajan en un ambiente profesional y usted va a estar cubierto por una

toalla durante todo el tratamiento. Los terapeutas van a preguntarles acerca de su

nivel de comfort. Mientras usted tenga mayor mobilidad y el terapeuta tenga mayor

acceso a la superficie de la piel, el tratamiento tendrá mayores beneficios.

Do I need to worry about wearing undergarments during my treatment?

You are encouraged to undress to your own level of comfort. Our therapists work in a

professional therapeutic environment and you will be covered by a towel throughout the

whole treatment. The therapists will check with you for comfort level. The greater freedom

of mobility and access to the surface of your skin, the greater the benefits of the treatment.
