Josephine was born in Akron, Ohio, on October 19, 1918, to Frank Mary Giglio. She attended Akron North High School, and while there, met her future husband Angelo R. Sicuro, later to become managing edi- tor of the Kent/Ravenna Record Courier. They were married in 1938, had one living child, son Tom of Ravenna. Josephine had a keen sense of humor, keen insight and plenty of common sense. She kept in contact with a wide range of friends and rel- atives, many of whom would seek her advice and counsel on matters important to them. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, and was particularly close with her three granddaughters, with whom she kept in constant phone contact. She was known as a great cook, and her pizza was the first item to dis- appear at family gather- ings. She took pride in her ability to manager her finances and kept her own counsel on financial and business matters. She served for many years on the board of the Ravenna United Fund, which dispensed grants to various local chari- ties. She also served as a television editor of the Record Courier newspa- per for many years, and also enjoyed work as an election poll worker. Her main hobbies were her housekeeping and her family. Josephine was pre- ceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Frances Sicuro, and her infant daughter Mary. She is survived by her son Tom and his wife Edith, three granddaugh- ters: Gaby Miller and husband Ben of Wester- ville, Noelle Sicuro and husband Jay Hartranft of Upper Arlington, and Michelle Sicuro and hus- band Scott Misano of Newburyport, Massachu- setts. She is also survived by five great-grandchil- dren: Seth, Hope, Lily, Eve, and Cora, as well as her brother James Giglio and wife Fran of Sping- field, Missouri, and sev- eral nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday, August 29, 2016, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Wood-Kor- tright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Walk- er, 26, with a last known address of 9544 Green- meadow Road, was in- dicted June 21 on one count each of corrupting another with drugs, a sec- ond-degree felony, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. Walker was served with the indictment and booked at the Portage County jail on Monday, according to the Por- tage County Sheriff’s Office. He will be ar- raigned at 9 a.m. today in Portage County Com- mon Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman’s courtroom. The Portage County Prosecutor’s Office has recommended Walker be jailed on 10 percent of $50,000 bond, according to court records. Windham police ar- rested Walker on March 18 after he allegedly in- jected a 27-year-old Ak- ron woman with heroin at a location on Snow Road. He then alleged- ly disposed of the nee- dle he used to inject the drugs, which led to the evidence tamper- ing charge. The woman suffered “serious physi- cal harm” but survived. The fire department re- ceived the money in 2014 to help purchase the vehicle, which Fire Chief Derek Reed previously said would increase the safety of residents, patients and fire department personnel. The township was required to provide a 5 percent match to the grant as part of the program’s requirements. Reed also said U.S. senators Sher- rod Brown and Rob Portman and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan all wrote letters of support to DHS and FEMA on behalf of the township’s grant request. Paris voters in March also passed Issue 6, a 2-mill additional levy for emergency medical and fire service. Josephine A. Sicuro, age 97 of Ravenna, passed away on Thurs-day, August 25, 2016.
