our new birth by baptism and our entrance
into eternity by burial. The Columbarium
holds the names and the memories of those

memorial, it cycles the ongoing flow of life
and death. The Columbarium placed in the
mainstream of church life, is a witness
to the Christian concept of death and

When Christians desire to make decisions
about their burial or burials of loved ones
there are several options to consider. One
of the burial practices accepted by
Christians is cremation. This informational
pamphlet seeks to assist as you consider
this option at Valley View United
Methodist Church in Overland Park,
Kansas.
Cremation is the process of reducing the
human body to its basic elements. We have
been taught that God created us, gave us
the gift of life, and that our human body is
the temple in which God resides while we
are living. As such, our body is to be cared
for and honored. We have also been taught
that when our life on earth is over, God
gives us a spiritual body.
