Water Treatment Academy, a division of TechnoBiz Communications Co., Ltd. is organizing three short

courses on membrane water treatment for the benefit of water treatment plant designers and engineers.

The first program on “Membrane Water Treatment – Fundamentals” (11 Oct 2010) discusses about

fundamental aspects and principles of membrane technology in water treatment. This program is

basically for the entry level engineers and engineers who wish to refresh basics of membrane technology. This program is foundation for other two programs. The second program “Membrane Water Treatment –

System Design” (12-13 Oct 2010) is about the designing of membrane water treatment plant. This

program is useful for water treatment plant design engineers. The third program “Membrane Water

Treatment – Operational Control and Troubleshooting” (14-15 Oct 2010) is about how to operate

membrane plant efficiently and ways and approaches to solve operational problems. All these programs

are aimed for water treatment plant operators and designers.

Program Instructor: Peter Cartwright

Peter Cartwright has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota (1961) and is a

registered Professional Engineer in the USA. He entered the water industry in 1974 as director of sales and marketing

for a major manufacturer of membrane elements and systems. In 1980, Peter formed his consultingengineering business, Cartwright Consulting Co. In 1997, he co-founded another company,

Cartwright, Olsen & Associates, LLC. This company has provided third-party evaluation and

performance validation testing of innovative drinking water treatment technologies in

accordance with the EPA Environmental Technology Verification Program. Peter specializes in

technical consulting in advanced technology membrane separation processes for water

purification, wastewater treatment, and food/chemical processing applications. With expertise

encompassing virtually all treatment technologies, his clients include manufacturers desiring to

produce complete water treatment systems or components thereof. He provides complete design, construction,

installation, and operating services covering the entire spectrum of water purification, wastewater treatment, water

recovery, reclamation and reuse, as well as environmentally conscious manufacturing. In addition, he offers market

studies, comprehensive training, and educational programs in all areas of water treatment, as well as complete

applications and pilot testing of wastewater streams, necessary for the design of complete treatment systems. He hasauthored in excess of 150 articles, written several book chapters, presented over 160 lectures in conferences around

the world and has been awarded three patents for water purification processes.
