Friends of the Belgrade Public Library2011 Membership Letter 

Dear Friends:

It is that time of year again; time to renew your Annual Membership with the Friends of the Belgrade Public Libraryor to become a new member! Your membership allows us to increase awareness of the library, to fundraise to support thelibrary and its programs, and allows us to assist with the general management of our group.

The Friends, Library Trustee’s and Select Board have been working together preparing an article for the TownWarrant. The article that will be going before the Town on town meeting day will ask the voters if they want to enter into alease agreement with the Friends of the Belgrade Public Library for the cost of $1.00. This lease will allow the Town tomove the Belgrade Public Library from the Center for All Seasons to the former Hammond House (owned by the Friendswhich will be renovated by the Friends for a larger, centrally located, library for the community. The Friends will take onthe expenses of the building and grounds, the electricity, heating, insurance, plowing, mowing, and security system, whilethe Town will continue with their operating budget which includes wages, books, internet access and other miscellaneousoffice expenses. The Friends hope that the town will support this project. We are planning many fundraisers for thecoming year to help with these expenses. The Friends have received several grants; the Steven King Foundation, theDavis Foundation and the Morton-Kelly Charitable Trust. We will continue to pursue other grant opportunities. There willbe a Project Renovation Appeal in the spring, which in addition to grant monies, will be used for the renovation project. Anumber of community members have enthusiastically stepped forward to offer their help with this project. As we goforward, we are looking for more community members to become involved and to help get a library that will benefit the

people of Belgrade and the surrounding area.In 2010 the Friends donated $1,000 toward the e-books program for the library. Another $300 was donated to

assist the Library Trustee's with their program "Books for Babies."

Mark your calendars for the following fundraisers planned for 2011.

1. A Book Sale on February 26, snow date February 27

2. A Lasagna Supper, March 5, snow date March 123. 5K Road Race over Memorial Weekend4. Yard Sale on June 185. Book Sale on July 46. Golf tournament on July 14

In addition to these events, the Friends have an ongoing fundraiser selling boxes of Christmas and All-Occasioncards. If anyone would like to help out on any of these fundraisers we would certainly welcome your support. You mayalso look on Facebook under the Friends of the Belgrade Public Library to check our updated calendar of events.Our continued success and growth for the future is dependent upon ongoing support from our current members andhaving new members join us.
