Change of Date for April Stated MeetingApril’s Stated Meeting will be held Monday, April 10 instead of third Monday because of the Santee Golf Trip.

Stated Meeting Reservations

Sometimes when we are generous in small, barely detectable ways, it can change someone else's life forever. - Margaret ChoIf you have worked a street corner or in front of a store for Tabloid, I’m sure you have encountered someone who wants to contribute but can only find a bit of loose change. They will normally say something like, “I’m sorry it’s not more.” You reply, “Thanks so much; every penny counts.” I’m confident you will get that opportunity again on May 19-20. What is funny is that it is absolutely true. Who knows what dime or dollar is the one that helps one of our hospitals do something special, something needed, yet something beyond what the budget will allow? We never know so we go after every penny we can raise.

A great thing about being a Shriner is there are so many different ways we can help kids and their families with the exceptional care given by truly exceptional medical professionals. In addition to helping with Tabloid Day, there are all the other days in the year that Shriners are out raising funds for Tabloid. Some do Cans For Kids; some have dinners or breakfasts; some hold golf outings; some solicit local businesses for donations; some present what we do to other groups like American Legion, Amvets, Elks, Rotary, church groups for donations and on and on and on. And no noble has a lock on an idea; we are here to share our successes and ideas with others because we are of a single goal—bringing everything we can to Shrine kids who are entrusted to Shrine care.

Looking forward we have dates to remember. First is Saturday April 22 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Aladdin Shrine temple headquarters. This will be the annual Tabloid Seminar. We will give you some old information but as a reminder, we will share new stories from our hospitals in Cincinnati, Erie and Lexington. We will offer some ideas of what is working for others in hopes they might work for you. Then we have Tabloid weekend Friday and Saturday, May 19 - 20. Some of you will need other days, so just let us know. No problem. Some will need insurance certificates and/or copies of our IRS letter of determination for 501(c)3 status. Call or email me and we will get them on the way to you. Finally, you can pick up your Tabloids beginning at the Tabloid Seminar.

Nobles, bring your ladies! They can be a huge help to us in raising funds. They have contacts and do business in places we guys don’t. We need their help, we need their support and we need them to aid us in spreading the word about Shriners Hospital for Children® and the work that we do.

If you have any questions or ideas about Tabloid 2017, let me know. And we encourage you to participate in “2017 $ a Day,” another generous way to help that can change lives forever!

Hopefully you have noticed that beginning with the February edition of the Aladdin’s Lamp, we have resumed mailing a copy to all Aladdin Nobles. If you prefer to only receive the Lamp by email, please contact the business office and make your request known and verify your current email address. There is a cost savings benefit to Aladdin for copies that are not mailed.

I believe that membership is job one for all Shriners and not just here at Aladdin. Without strong membership, it will be difficult to perpetuate our fraternity and provide the support it takes to sustain our philanthropy. Seeking new members and helping to retain and restore nobles is not just the responsibility of the membership chairman, his committee, and the Divan—it is the responsibility of every noble. It is only through the efforts of all of us that we will be successful in building our membership numbers. To that effect, we will have two full Ceremonials in 2017 (May 13 and November 4). If each of us were to do our part, how exciting would it be to have the ballroom full of candidates to join our fraternity?

The Grand Master of Ohio will be holding a one-day Masonic class on March 25. Following a 90-day moratorium, we will be permitted to solicit these new Masons to become members of Aladdin Shrine. This could be a huge opportunity for Aladdin to create new members if the nobility is committed to putting forth the necessary effort to make it happen. I am asking you to step up to the plate in 2017 and ask a brother Mason to become a noble or reach out to a fellow Shriner who has become lost in the desert and encourage him to become an active participant and/or restore his membership.

I am PROUD to be an Aladdin Shriner.

All nobles, past and present, are listed in WebFez. Without accurate information, Aladdin Shriners and Shriners International cannot provide current information to you. With WebFez each noble can review his own membership records and make changes to ensure we have correct and updated information in the WebFez database.

To access WebFez, open your computer’s Internet browser and search for WebFez or enter the address www.webfez.shrinenet.org.. There is a step-by-step registration guide at the top of the page to help you through the registration process. Begin by pressing the register button; select Aladdin Temple; enter your name and member number that is on your dues card and click “register”. You will also need to create a password.

After completing the registration process you are now ready to review and if necessary, correct your information. If there is any information you cannot change, please contact the front office, any Divan member, your club or unit officers, or me.

You can also double your Aladdin Shrine benefits by joining a club or unit! There are 2,000 Aladdin Shriners who do not belong to any club or unit. Becoming a member of any of our clubs and units is a great way to double your fun and fellowship experience as part of the Aladdin Shrine family.

Membership dates to remember are March 25, 2017, the Masonic one-day class; and May 13 and November 4, 2017, the Ceremonials for Aladdin Shriners. It is never too soon to turn in a petition for a new candidate. Have you done this yet?

The new year is off and running with a new Potentate and new Divan positions.

The term “new” is a popular Biblical term and is used nearly 40 times in the Revised Standard Version of the Bible. The Prophet Isaiah, eighth century B. C., mentions the term about six times in his writings, mostly referring to the works of the Supreme Architect. In chapter 42, verse 9 he says, “Behold the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” He further states in verse 10, “Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise to the end of the earth… .” This may also be applied to Aladdin as each new Potentate assumes the leadership of Aladdin we have “a new song.” Our new Potentate, Ill. Sir Jon, has planned a very eventful year full of events and “new things.” In order to take full advantage of your membership in Aladdin, take advantage of the events which have been planned for you. Events are well advertised in the Lamp.

Due to some limitations of the new building, it is absolutely necessary to make your reservations well in advance of the event. In the past Shriners have had a tendency to procrastinate which, unfortunately, has caused some confusion and some ruffled feathers when a Noble has to be turned away from an event because no reservation(s) were made.

The story of the Egyptian Pharaoh and Joseph, as related in Genesis Chapter 41, illustrates the importance of a reserve (and reservations). The Pharaoh had a peculiar dream and called on Joseph for an interpretation. Joseph said the dream indicated that Egypt would have seven years of famine following seven years of plenty. Verse 36 states, “That food shall be a reserve(ation) for the land against the seven years of famine which are to befall the land of Egypt…” Reservations, in that day, were matters of survival. Remember—reservations!

Chaplain D. Dee Mowry, PP

The final numbers for 2016 are coming in now. In order to clear as much as possible, the SHC books were kept open until January 20, 2017. Allow us to bore you with just a couple numbers and then on to the neat stuff.

We ended 2016 $50,626 or -0.6% under budget for local operating expenses and under budget $497,227 or -4.5% for total operating expenses. Donations for 2016 totaled $2,837,869. Total outpatient encounters were 11,661 and we averaged 47.23 encounters per day. We have several pages of info, but we feel these numbers are most significant. If you want more, let us know.

One last number is 523 encounters. In July we added the position and service for speech language pathology. In six months this new clinic has grown significantly. We expect over 1,500 encounters for 2017. This is an exciting addition to our Outpatient Specialty Care Clinic and sets us apart from others in the scope of our offerings. Finally, at the SHC Leadership Conference in January, Erie was noted as having the third LOWEST draw on the Shrine Endowment. This area has become a major focus given too many years of ultra low interest rates. Total endowment income annually is down as a result of this rate environment. Those extra things each hospital would like to do, beyond the normal budget comes in large part from the endowment. The lower the returns, the less we have available for use. Each hospital is ranked by what they draw. We are proud of our efforts in this area. A COMMERCIAL HERE: See Tabloid article—this is exactly what we talk about and why Tabloid is so important. Thank You!

Let’s talk some neat stuff. On page 4 of this Lamp, you’ll find pictures and history that hi-light our 90 years of service to children. Like a number of other Shriners Hospital for Children®, the initial target was polio and TB. Later limited orthopaedic services were added and the “crippled children” service was added to our normal titles. Today, of course, what we offer is far from limited. Thankfully polio and TB in children in the USA is seldom found, but it’s a big world out there and we never know when we might need to return to our roots. We pray, however, that never happens. But new needs and opportunity are always just around the corner. Our speech language pathology is a great example. If you think this is only for kids with speech impediments, think again. Many of the kids with ortho problems, feeding problems and other issues can benefit from SLP sessions. We see this as a major new initiative for the future.

On June 4 we will have a public celebration to recognize all the accomplishments of the last 90 years. We hope you and your family can come and be part of the day. We know it’s final round at Muirfield and many nobles are committed for that. But if you’re not, consider a trip. While Erie is probably best known for snow, there are many things to do in the area. Remember the old fashioned amusement parks of our youth? Well Waldameer Park still is. If you’ve ever told your kids or grandkids about those days, bring them over and let them live it. For a no kids treat, the Presque Isle Casino might fill the bill. For more information about what is going on, hit Google.

There is a lot going on every day in SHC-Erie ASC/OSCC. We’d love to have you come and see for yourself.

And please remember, if you meet a Roadrunner, please say THANK YOU!

The February meeting of the board of governors was in the midst of the JCAHO (Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, now known as the The Joint Commission) survey. This is a periodical review of hospitals and other healthcare organizations to evaluate all aspects of the hospital and its operation(s). Your hospital will receive a written report in the near (hopefully) future with the results of the survey.

The Cincinnati hospital has been operating at full capacity for the past few weeks and there were 100 intakes for the past month. Patients ranged in age from one month to 19 years and were from as far away as South Dakota, Mexico and the Carolinas. Chief of Staff, Dr. Petra Warner, spoke of the child from Mexico who suffered from major burns and the resulting stenosis of the trachea. The child has received very specialized and expert care at Shriners and is making excellent progress.

Cincinnati has 243 employees and a vacancy rate of 8.7%. Turnover is below the state average and “stay interviews” are being conducted with all new employees whose hire date dates back to 2016. It is much more cost effective to retain employees than to train new ones.

Equipment costs continue to escalate. For example the research department needs a new cell sorter and counter. The present one, now obsolete, was purchased in 1999 at a cost of $300.000.00; a new one is now in the range of $800,000.00 (+).

The board was “treated” to the new corporate compliance update; members all signed the form. The human resources committee had a 15 minute phone call for the main office on the compliance issue.

A new stem cell researcher is due to be in residence in April. She will join our other researchers who now number about 20.

The next board meeting will be March 22; all Shriners are welcome.

Aladdin Shriners Hospital Association for Children is pleased to announce it will once again have funds available to distribute back in to the community via hospitals, fire departments, schools, MRDD Boards, etc.

The forms have been mailed to all unit directors and club presidents. If you are aware of an organization needing a piece of equipment that would improve the life of a child with a burn, orthopedic, or spinal cord problems, you may give them a copy of the paperwork, have it completed and returned to the Aladdin Shrine business office prior to April 7. If you have any questions please contact Kim.

Past Masters by Timothy WardOur unit has been requested by the 14th Masonic District Deputy Grand Masters to perform the Master Mason degree at the Grand Master’s One-Day Class on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Phil Clouse is currently looking for individuals for all of the roles for this performance. If you would like to participate, please call Phil at 614-267-0186.

We will be performing the Master Mason Degree at the Masonic Night with The Shrine on April 24. Please mark your calendars now so that you do not forget to attend. More information will be available next month.

The nobles adopted a new point system for new members to achieve active status and earn their blue jacket. The old point system will remain for all current members, both active and reserve, who are working to achieve or maintain their active status and earn their blue jacket. Because of the variety of events that we currently attend, this change will ensure that new members attend more of our events.

Illustrious Sir Ron Leonard has agreed to be in charge of the Muirfield event. Daun Knox did a terrific job organizing this each year and he will be sorely missed. We are currently looking for up to seven nobles to become day captains for the event. A day captain will report to Ron and be responsible for recruiting nobles to work the event on the day they have agreed to work.

We are currently looking for three nobles to assist Phil Clouse with arranging participants in our Master Mason Degrees. They will all report to Phil and provide him help by alleviating some of the stress of having to do it all by himself.

Neil Elam apparently had some difficulty talking and other issues and was admitted to the hospital. The tests performed did not show a stroke or TIA but he now has a current film if the symptoms come back.

George Stevens reported that Suzy just completed two months of chemo. She will begin radiation twice a day, five days a week for a total of 21 days and she will receive chemo on the days of radiation. Please keep them in your prayers they really do help.

Bob Byers’s sister in California reported that Bob Byers has been in Heartland Manor assisted living in Westerville. He may be moved soon to another facility that can perform other needed services.

Daryl Metcalf’s lady was in Doctor’s West for another sugar adjustment. We enjoyed seeing her at the Aladdin Installation.

Carl Long reported that his 20 radiation treatments are over and is now waiting until tests can be done to see if the tumor is gone for good. He thanks everyone for the cards and calls.

Kambri by Dick BrixnerYour Kambri Shrine Club held its annual Ham and Bean Soup Supper at the Cambridge Elk's Club on Thursday, February 9 with 16 nobles and one guest in attendance. Noble Tom Fisher provided the prayer prior to the enjoyment of the food.

Our noble chefs, Ron LePage, Dave Black and Dick Bates, provided the ham and bean soup and the vegetable soup. We also had a cheese tray, cold cuts, corn bread by Kennedy's (downtown) and all the "fixin’s" to go with the same. And of course, there were liquid refreshments. No one walked away hungry.

Noble Tom fisher provided a print-out on our club's finances for our review and encouraged questions on the same.

Nobles, you should have received your 2017 Kambri dues notice. Please pay promptly and consider the extra donation to the Aladdin Shriners Hospital Association for Children (ASHAC).

Nobles, did you read the February Lamp? Do you know who this year's Potentate is and the members of his Divan? Have you checked out the dates for the Aladdin Shrine Circus (March 24-26); the Santee, South Carolina Golf Trip (April 17-22);or the Walleye Fishing Stag (June 11-12)? If interested, call Aladdin at 800-475-3850 for further details and a reservation. Did you know that Aladdin is putting together a family cookbook and is gathering recipes from Aladdin Nobles?

Nobles, do you follow the articles on our Shriners Hospital for Children®? Did you know, that throughout its history, Shriners Hospital for Children® has followed a three pronged mission of medical care, teaching and research.

Our Shriners Hospital for Children®— Cincinnati Research Unit’s mission is "to discover new knowledge that improves the quality of care and quality of life of children and families.” Research projects are partially supported or, in some cases, fully supported by medical research grants from the Shriners Hospital for Children®. The Cincinnati Research Center focuses on four broad areas that have critical roles in the recovery from burn injury: 1. Wound healing; 2. Immunology, inflammation, and infection; 3. Nutrition; and 4. Sleep. Nobles, we need to be proud of our Shriners Hospitals, both for the medical care and for the extensive research they provide to the world.

Nobles, you missed a great meal fellowship and fun at the bean supper. Watch for the upcoming events and take part in your Shrine club. Invite a fellow Shrine-Mason to come and join our Shrine club. Watch for the flyers in your mailbox for the next several events and join us. Our next two events, you can bring your ladies. See you there.

Worthington Officersby Keven M. ClousePipes & DrumsIt’s almost time! We are very excited to perform during our nearly famous St. Paddy’s Pub Tour and of course, for the Aladdin Shrine St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on March 17.

We are setting up venues throughout the greater Columbus area to include downtown Columbus, Grandview Heights, Worthington, and Polaris area to name a few. We hope that many of you will come out and support us along the way. If you have a favorite establishment that would like to have us perform, let us know as we are working on the schedule now.

We are looking for those not only with talent but those with a passion to learn the bagpipes. Even more important right now, we need drummers to join our unit. If you think you are interested, come check us out at 7:00 p.m. on the second, third and fourth Tuesdays of the month at the Aladdin Shrine temple headquarters.

You can keep up with the latest on our unit and performances on Facebook at www.facebook.com/aladdinshrinepipes and Twitter@AladdinShrinePD.

by Don JonesRoss CountySpecial message for our membership...I want to share the following email from Noble Paul Langhirt of the Ross County Shrine Club.

In doing the membership for this year, I started thinking about how our membership has been declining since 1994 when I started sending out dues notices. Back then we had about 325 members; now we have 216.

Over the last 23 years we have added some members and lost several. My records show 331 members have been lost, 150 have died, the rest have moved and demitted or been suspended for non-payment.

We need to build the membership or we will lose the club. If each of us were to get one Mason to join the Shrine it would help. Better yet, contact that person you know who would make a good Mason and tell him why you think he should join a lodge.

Your brother nobles would like to see you at the meetings too. Please make an effort to come to the next meeting. Bring a guest if you can. ~ Paul Langhirt

Paul's message is RIGHT ON. I would like to add a thought. We need more of those 216 members to become workers for the club. In 2016 we were unable to adequately man some of our annual fundraisers. That was very disappointing. So if you haven't been active and are able, come to our club meetings with some ideas for how we can do better. Contact a fundraiser chairman and tell him "sign me up.”

March is the Aladdin Shrine Circus month and this year it is scaled down to three days, March 24-26. With the news that the Ringling Bros., Barnum and Bailey Circus is literally folding its tent and further news that Delaware County is considering a ban on circus animals, one wonders how long our circus will be around. In the meantime, let’s do our best to enjoy it. It’s not too late to sign up for ushering at the circus, so call Frank Swiatek at 614-563-9855 to arrange your participation. Don’t forget to turn in your Circus Daddy money which will enable you to buy circus tickets for $10.00 each.

The Reception Unit meeting for February consisted of a fine dinner at La Scala. Good food, good conversation, good friends! Director Jack Bonn anticipates more such off-site meetings in the future.

We’re looking forward to hearing from Ken Russell about his trip to Israel in February. Ken made the trip with a group from his church.

Mike and Nedra Johnson took a mid-winter break in February to visit family in Florida. Mike tells us all our members have paid their 2017 R-Unit dues, but asks that you be sure to pay your Aladdin Shrine dues.

Bill Stelzer has moved to Brookside Senior Solutions in order to be near his wife who requires assisted living services.

The calendar is relentless—March birthdays have rolled around for Ken Beckholt, Bill Childs, Jim Paul, and me, Don Owens. Happy birthday to all

Illustrious Sir Jon Kinney and First Lady Cindy received donations from WSC President Frank Henderson.  Meritorious Service Award was presented to Noble Russ Fish.

Thebes Temple by Sylvia Ann Bast

Spring is almost here; we are very happy to welcome it. At Thebes Temple we are looking forward to many things coming up!

We thank you for the support you have shown us in the 2016 and are happy to know that this support continues with the installation of Potentate Jon M. Kinney. The hospital representative and the Shriners at Aladdin Shrine are a wonderful group of dedicated men and they make our efforts to provide the Lexington Hospital with their needs for success.

We are for the children at our hospital and will continue our best work to provide this support for you and the children.

The installation of our new officers for the 2017 year is planned for March 15. There is information on the bulletin board at Aladdin Shrine temple headquarters about this upcoming event. Princess Royal Vicky Kutschbach is looking forward to her new role as Queen of Thebes Temple No. 87. We would love to have you in attendance for this special occasion.

A new and fun event coming up at Thebes Temple is our special "Breakfast with the Easter Bunny" on Saturday, April 8 at the Luther B. Turner Masonic Lodge. There will be lots of fun for the kids and families to help the children. We look forward to your support for this fun time and our 1st Annual Breakfast. (See ad on page 6.)

by O. Wayne FulmerSteubenvillePreceding our meeting we feasted on barbecue ham sandwiches, chips, brownies, ice cream and of course, assorted beverages. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Noble Dan Truax. The pledge to our flag was led and the prayer was given by our Chaplain Noble 0. Wayne Fulmer.

Report of the Sick: Noble Bud Art Michael is still at home recuperating. Noble Roger Watts slipped on the ice and strained his back. Past President Noble Dick Hazelip is under the weather.

Motor Patrol: The election of officers was February 26 and it was a work day starting at 10:00 a.m. Shriner Children: There have been no calls so far this month for the Erie Hospital trip. Some

trips are lined up for April. On Sunday, June 4 Erie Shrine Hospital will be celebrating their 90th Anniversary and hosting a big "thank you" for all the drivers and volunteer staff.

Reminder of Upcoming Events: Upcoming events are Tabloid Day, the pancake breakfast, Potentate’s visit, work days and last but not least, please pay your dues if you have not paid.

Weeeee! That's all folks. Be safe. God bless. Ritual is what we say; fraternity is what we do!

Provost by Joey Brooksby Phillip HarbargerAladdin Shrine BandWe are two months into the year and a good month into rehearsals for the Aladdin Concert and Dixieland Bands. The concert band has been rehearsing some new pieces and they are coming together. We continue to look for additional help in the percussion and woodwinds sections. If you know someone, please contact James Esswein at [email protected] or call the Aladdin office and they can help you by giving you some contact information.

Brother Frank Henderson, Salvation Army Bell Ringing Chairman, wants to give a big “tip of the fez” to all who helped with the kettle drive. The location Aladdin Band has worked for the past few years (Kroger at Sunbury Plaza) started collecting the day before Thanksgiving and ran until Christmas Eve collecting $12,624.55 for

the Columbus area’s Salvation Army. Frank also “tips the fez” to a few nobles who worked over 80 plus hours playing. He is going to chair the project again this year and hopefully we will do as well.

We held our annual band meeting in January and the officers were installed by the Aladdin Divian members, Art Wilson and Todd Jones.

So, for the band members who have not paid their yearly band dues, please come to rehearsal so you can pay Jim Shackson. He is working on a list of names of members who have not paid.

The Aladdin Shrine Circus is coming to town; that’s great news for the bands. Performing at the circus is a great experience. I can remember one performance where the baritone section was playing and one of the elephants tapped us on the shoulder with his trunk. Now that was weird. I was not sure if the elephant did that to stop us from playing or was telling us we were doing a great job. I think it was the latter. The show times this year are Friday March 24 - 26. Aladdin Dixieland plays at 2:00 p.m. on March 24 and March 25. Aladdin Concert Band plays at 6:30 p.m. on March 24 and 25 and at noon on March 26.

The directors would like everyone to be ready to perform at the starting time. Please arrive early to help setup. All through the month of March we will rehearse circus music along with concert music. It would be great to have a large attendanceMarch Schedule

The Aladdin bands are fun and busy units. It’s nice to put something into an organization that you stand by. I was told a long time ago, “You only get out what you put in.“ I can honestly say I am getting a lot back—fellowship, friendship, fun and not forgetting new music. Don’t forget to purchase one of the Dixieland Bands CD. It only costs $10.00—best deal money can buy.

Until next month, “Keep your feet to the ground and keep reaching for the stars.” – Kasey Kasem

The February meeting was very well attended and included our own Illustrious Sir Jon Kinney. The meeting was opened by Director Rob Hartsell with the usual

fanfare. Director Hartsell presented Potentate Jon Kinney with a hand carved wood plaque replica of the Provost badge.

Following the presentation of the secretary and treasurer’s reports, Director Hartsell reminded everyone that a list of the current participation points for each

member is available for review at each meeting. The point accumulation runs from July 1 – June 30. There will be more on this later in the article.Director Hartsell shared a thank you card from the Ohio Sled Hockey for our

donation to this very fine organization. He also announced the Provost Unit Picnic will be on Saturday, August 5.

Updates were provided by the various committees. The Aladdin Shrine Circus will be March 24 – 26 with a total of eight shows. The Muirfield detail kicks off on May 25 with the Fore! Miler at 4:00 p.m. We need about 30 people to handle traffic and parking at this event. The Memorial Tournament is May 29 – June 4. Contact Dave Peters to get signed up for the Fore! Miler and Memorial Tournament assignments. The Zoofari detail will be June 17.

The Provost Sunshine Committee reported that Lady Mary Jo (Bob) Albright’s son is presently hospitalized from a sudden onset of paralysis brought on by a cyst and infection on the spinal cord. Lady Marsha (Howard) Beane is continuing to recover from knee surgery. Tom Rice continues to convalesce from heart surgery but is starting to get out and about some now. Bill Dountz was recently hospitalized for breathing problems. Don Campbell is recovering from shoulder surgery. It was nice to see both Bill and Don well enough to be at the meeting. Charlie Dozer continues to struggle with health problems and needs our prayers. Bob Albright is recuperating at home after having gall bladder surgery.

Director Hartsell announced the executive committee has appointed the following members to veteran status in the unit: Hayman K. (Barney) Barnitz, Howard L. Beane, James S. (Steve) Hathaway, Charles J. (Charlie) Linek Jr., Terry D. McLaughlin, Robert M. (Bob) Michel, and George E. Stowe.

Now back to the earlier mention of participation points. The 2017 Imperial is July 9 – 13 in Daytona Beach, Florida. The unit has approved a stipend for those members attending the event. Members who have earned sixty (60) or more participation points will receive 100% of the approved stipend. Even if a member presently has zero points, based on the aforementioned details, there are still many opportunities to earn in excess of the 60 points need to receive the full stipend prior to June 30. Members with thirty (30) or more points but less than 60 points will receive 50% of the approved stipend

The 2017 Shriners Hospitals for Children®—Cincinnati visitation and Reds baseball game will be Thursday, June 8. Cost will be $33.00/person and includes transportation and ticket to the game. We will stop at the original Montgomery Inn restaurant after the game. Cost for your meal is not included. Go to www.montgomeryinn.com to view the menu and pricing. Watch for more information.

Celebrating birthdays in March are Thomas E. Douglas Sr., Rex A. Emrick, Potentate Jon M. Kinney, Douglas E. Marine, Terry D. McLaughlin, Kevin T. Moore, Larry M. Mosley, Robert M. Shaw, Thomas J. Steltenpohl, Albert W. (Bill) Taylor, and Alan S. Witherspoon.

It is with great sadness we report our unit has been visited by the Black Camel. Theodore (Ted) Shaeffer of Lancaster was taken from us on February 20, 2017.

Last, but certainly not least, PP John Rohal recently received his 65-year award from the Grand Lodge of Ohio. Congratulations Pappy!

Our next meeting is March 14. Hope to see you there.
