OFFICE STAFF: As Principal of Melton South Primary School I am very fortunate to have such committed

office staff– Michelle, Sara, Jenn, Kerry, Wendy and Kety. Leadership and I make the decisions and office

staff are directed to follow through those decisions. The office staff have the right to come to school and

feel safe and respected. Unfortunately this hasn’t happened this week. From now on any parent/carer

who is disrespectful, aggressive or abusive in a conversation, at the window or on the phone the

conversation will cease. Follow up action may be taken by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal.

DEAD LINES: When excursions/incursions/camps/whole school events are organised it is important that

we have a dead line for payments and permission slips. We have to take into consideration staffing, staff/

student ratio, catering etc. On excursions it is numbers on buses, staff student ratio, the number of

students permitted in any session and also the number of children not attending so we can cater for

them back at school. As always if parents are having difficulty with payments prior to the deadline they

have always been advised to make an appointment with any of the Principal team, Marilyn, Natalie,

Michael or Angela.

SCHOOL HATS: Melton South Primary School is an accredited member of The Australian Cancer Foundation and therefore follows the required regulations in regard to SunSmart behaviour. As part of our school’s SunSmart Policy, all students and staff are required to wear school broad brimmed sunhats from 1st September through to April 30th next year. Hats are available from the school office for $12.00 each. END OF SCHOOL DAY: Gates will be closed at 3:45pm at the end of the school day. There is no staff on yard duty after 3:30pm as they have meetings to attend to. Children participating in the Active After School Sports Program can be picked up from the gym, entering from the car park near the gym. DOXA CAMP: Some students attended the Doxa Camp on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It was a great camp with lots of outdoor experiences. I would like to thank the staff for volunteering their time to be involved in this camp. DISCOS: Tonight we will be having our grade 3-6 disco. Students will be issued with a wrist band on the day of the disco which is their admission into the disco. Please ensure we have a contact phone for the evening of the disco. Children will not be allowed to leave the disco until an adult has arrived to collect them. Mobile phones will also need to be handed in as per School Council Policy. PRINCIPAL FORUM: Yesterday we presented to the other schools in our network on Creating consistency in Classroom Practice. The presentation included our Professional Learning community, curriculum documentation, co-Constructed Curriculum Overviews and Planning format. ATTITUDES TO SCHOOL SURVEY: Completed by students in grades 4 to 6. In the domain for : Effective teaching practice for cognitive engagement Differentiated learning challenge MSPS: 69% above State: 87%

Effective classroom behaviour MSPS: 77% above Network: 76%

Effective teaching time MSPS: 89% above State: 86%

Stimulating learning MSPS: 87% above State: 81%

Learner characteristics and disposition

Attitudes to attendance MSPS: 88% same Network: 88%

Motivation and interest MSPS 84% above State: 83%

Self regulation and goal setting MSPS 87% same Network: 87%

Resilience and Sense of Confidence were slightly below Network and State so these are areas we have

noted for improvement.

SCHOOL DISCO

Our junior school disco was last night and everyone had a great time. It was lovely to see all the students dancing and enjoying themselves. We are looking forward to the disco tonight for grade 3 to 6 children. Parents and carers are reminded that the disco finishes at 7.00pm and children are

to be collected from the gym. No child will be allowed to lave the gym without their parent or carer.

FATHER’S DAY STALL: I would like to thank KELLIE FERGUSON, Wanda McDonald, Natalie

Kapitan, Billie Peterson, Heather Stephens, Louise Robinson, Colette Freund and Lorrice Caltlin

for their hard work last Thursday and Friday at our Father’s Day Stall. Without these volunteers

we would not be able to have these stalls for our students.

FOOTY DAY PARADE - FRIDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER

The last day of term 3, Friday 20th September is our Footy Colours and Pie Day. Students are asked to come to

school dressed in their favourite team colours. There will be activities running throughout the day for students to

participate in. We will be having a parade in the gym in the morning at 9.10am. Order forms for the pies have

been sent home and need to be returned by Friday 13th September.

TERM 4 SWIMMING GRADE 4

Dear Parents,

The School Swimming and Water Safety Program will be running at Genesis (Melton Swim School) for 10 days next term during December for students in year 4.

The lessons in this program are funded by the government, making it more accessible and cost effective for parents.

Parents will need to pay only for the bus costs of transporting the students to and from the pool. CSEF can also be used to assist in paying for this.

More information and permission forms will be sent home early next term.

PREP 2020 ENROLMENTS We are now finalising enrolments for 2020. If you have a child turning 5 on or before the 30th

April, 2020, please ensure you have returned your child’s completed enrolment form.

This information allows us to commence planning for the coming year and it is vital that we

establish student numbers for 2020 as early as possible.

Year 3
