sIn addition to our large inventory of in stock molds, Melton Classics’ artisans can replicate anyexisting pattern, specification, or design upon request. Any custom design can be created to yourspecifications.

Due to the investment necessary to create custom items, no changes, deletions, returns, or cancella-tions can be made to a custom order after 24 hours from the order date. Any changes to orderrequirements, delivery dates, or quantities must be made in writing. No verbal changes will beaccepted. All standard product returns must be approved in writing by Melton Classics. No returnsof standard product will be accepted beyond 30 days from the initial order ship date. All returnsof standard product will be subject to a 30% restocking fee if approved by Melton Classics. Allcancellations of orders for Architectural Urethane products not already in production will incur a10% handling fee after 48 hours from order date.

Melton Classics prides itself on its ability to meet your custom millwork requirements. We have acomplete pattern and mold shop with master pattern makers on staff with over 90 years ofcombined experience to meet your custom millwork needs. Architectural Guide Specification

Melton Classics hereby warrants its parts upon the following conditions against defects in materials and workmanshipfor a period of one year after delivery to Purchaser when used and installed under normal conditions. THE FOREGO-ING WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF AND EXCLUDES ALL OTHER WARRANTIES NOT EXPRESSLY SET FORTH HEREIN.WHETHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED BY OPERATION OF LAW OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING BUT NOY LIMITED TOANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS. Failure to follow Melton Classics Storage andInstallation Instructions will void this limited warranty. Buyer and installer must inspect each piece before installation.Buyer and installer waive all defects which could have been discovered by reasonable inspection prior to installation.This includes, but is not limited to, all misalignment, misfitted parts, dimensional discrepancies and the like. In theevent that any claim is made under this warranty, an authorized representative of Melton Classics shall have the rightto inspect the parts and if, in his or her sole discretion, said representative determines the part(s) defective, MeltonClassics will repair, replace or refund the amount paid to Melton Classics for said defective parts. Melton Classics arches are available in

sizes from 24" up to 48" as one com-

plete half round. Sizes 52" and up will

come as two 100 degree arcs. Melton

Classics arches are made as true half

rounds with 3" extensions on the bot-

tom. This allows our arches to be

adjusted to height on the job-site to

fit all half round windows. This holds

true throughout our line except for

150-330, 150-335, 150-310 & 150-315

which do not have the extensions. We

also provide a pair of “shoes” with

each arch, which can be used to

transition from a straight moulding

to the arch.

IMPORTANT - Please Read

Railing Codes

It is important to check with your local

building inspector regarding the code for

baluster spacing and railing height. Most

states are using a 4" code for balusters,

which means that a 4" ball cannot pass

between the balusters. We provide you

with an on center spacing for each baluster

based on this code. Some balusters do not

meet code and can only be used in areas

that are not considered accessible to the

public. Example: A portico or front balcony that does not have an

operating window or door leading to it that could be used in case of

fire. It is imperative that you check with your building inspector

before ordering your railing system.

Melton Classics offers manyof its balusters with extendedblocks on the top & bottom.This allows for the baluster tomatch a stair pitch on the jobsite. We include completeinstallation instructions withevery order. Please call ourcustomer service departmentfor a faxed copy.

Melton Classics offers a wide array of classic entry system features

to allow the designer to create just the right entrance for any

design. Any doorway can be enhanced by combining pilasters,

crossheads and pediments from our broad selection of standard

molds. Pilasters are available in plain, fluted and paneled shaft

designs to beautifully frame your door or window opening. Arch

mouldings with or without keystones are also available in flat or

moulded profiles with matching casings to enhance the beauty of

radius door and window transoms.

Town Entrance Systems are low cost

reproductions of colonial millwork

that will enhance the most basic

house. The crossheads and pedi-

ments are molded as one complete

unit to save installation time and

eliminate water infiltration. Melton

Classics offers several different

pilaster styles and sizes to choose

from to meet your needs. The

pilasters butt to the bottom of the

crosshead and can be adjusted to

varying jamb conditions as well as

Order InstructionsDetermine the "D" Dimension. This is thedistance between the inside edge of yourpilasters as they will be installed on thedoor jamb. (SEE DETAIL 1)

To select a crosshead and pediment thatwill work with the "D" Dimension andpilaster width, move to the right, underthe heading "Description". There youwill locate the different style crossheadsand crossheads & pediments availableto fit your application.

A) Select the next largest"D" Dimension, which willusually result in thecrosshead overhanging thepilasters by an inch or lesson either side. (Example: Ifyour "D" Dimensionis 35 1/2" select 36").

B) Look to see if a "D" Dimension in anothercolumn matches your requirements. If so, thiswill require changing the width of the pilastersas noted at the top of the column above thelocated "D" Dimension.

the right Architectural Urethane™

louver to enhance any architectural

style. Louvers are offered in venti-

lating and non-ventilating designs.

Functional venting louvers have

openings between the slats and

are covered on the rear with non-

corrosive screening to allow unob-

structed air flow and keep insects

out. Decorative non-ventilating lou-

vers are provided in one solid piece

and do not allow air to flow

through them. Decorative casings

and keystones are available to

enhance the appearance of

Architectural Urethane™ louvers.

Louvers are also available routed

to accept siding upon request.

We recommend that properblocking be installed to securemouldings in place. This isespecially important with largermoulding profiles to limitexpansion and contraction.

Melton Classics recommends using

a quality urethane adhesive as part

of the installation process when

installing mouldings. We have found

that urethane adhesive is superior to

other adhesives that we have tried.

We recommend its use with all of our

products. Ask a Melton Classics

representative if you need to order a

quantity of our urethane adhesive.

Many larger moulding profiles cannot be mitered using a power miter

saw or a radial arm saw. For some profiles it may be necessary to cut

miters using a miter box and a hand saw.

Please read our instructions onhow to build a miter box.

Measure the height and projection of your moulding. If you are

using several large pieces of mouldings, build the miter box to

accomodate the largest profile.

Using 3/4" plywood approximately 6 feet long, cut the width of the

bottom piece exactly to the projection of the moulding you are using.

Cut the sides of the miter box a minimum of 1 3/4" wider than the

height of the largest profile.

Screw the side pieces to the side of your bottom piece.

Cut four 2" strips of plywood and

cut them to a length that is the

same width as the bottom of the

miter box. Secure them to the top

of the miter box making sure the

sides are square to the bottom.

Note: Keep a 2 1/2 foot opening at the center of the miter box to

allow the angles to be cut in.

Using a framing square, mark out the 45 degree angles. Square the

marks down the side walls. With a handsaw, cut your angles, mak-

ing sure to follow your lines down the side wall.

For the smaller moulding profiles, measure the projection and mark

that distance from one wall of the miter box. Cut a piece of blocking

to fill the space left over. This will act as a wall to rest against the

edge of your moulding.

Blocking is an important part of a good installation.

sINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Arches come as a true half round with 3" extensions that

can be cut to adjust the arch to line up with the bottom of

the window (except for 150-330 & 150-310 arches which

do not have the extensions). Melton Classics arches can be

installed using galvanized nails or screws and work well

with nail guns. Please test to set depth of the nail before

installing. Arches larger than than 48" are provided in two

halves that need to be joined in the center at the top of the

window. We recommend using urethane adhesive in the

joint to prevent separation.

Melton Classics provides complete installation instructions

with every order. Please call us for an advanced faxed

copy. All balusters should be installed with urethane

adhesive, please do not forget to order it. We recommend

one 10 oz. tube for every section of top and bottom rail.

Install mouldings on a solid backing with studs or joists

16" on center or less. NOTE: Large profiles require

additional blocking.

Louvers should be installed with galvanized fasteners and

urethane adhesive. Most commonly the louvers are secured

through the brick moulding. The urethane adhesive should

be applied in a 1/4" bead about 3/8" from the outside edge

of the louver and squeezed out to the edge and act as a

caulk and sealant to prevent water seepage when the

louver is secured with fasteners.

All open louvers may allow water seepage during severe

weather conditions. Melton Classics recommends installing

a flash pan to catch any water seepage. This can be fash-

ioned out of sheet metal or coil stock and fastened in posi-

tion before louver installation.

Secure the flash pan to the studs or sheathing. Drill 1/8"

weep holes to allow any water seepage to escape.

Entrance Features should be installed using a combination

of galvanized fasteners and urethane adhesive. First locate

the center point of your door and crosshead. If your system

has sidelights, take your measurement from the outside of

the entire system to locate the center point. Mark the top

jamb at the bottom edge so your mark is visible when

Run a bead of urethane adhesive along the top and

bottom edge of the moulding where it will meet the

backing.

Mark the distance on the wall to be covered by the first

piece of moulding. Oversize and cut the moulding,

adding 1/8" for every 5 feet of moulding required.

Example: If the distance to be covered is 15' cut

your moulding at 15' 3/8".

Shutters are face mounted using galvanized masonry

screws or wood screws. These can be countersunk and

filled with Bondo® or any quality two part plastic wood

filler.

Another option is to use a decorative washer around the

screw, which can be painted the color of the shutter. This

eliminates the need to patch and fill holes while still main-

taining a clean look.

Window heads should be face mounted using galvanized

screws and urethane adhesive. Countersink the fasteners

and fill with Bondo® or any two part plastic wood filler.

Make sure to flash properly before appling siding.

Using galvanized screws, fasten one end of the moulding

to your starting point. Pull the center of the moulding

away from the wall, which will draw the free end of the

moulding back to the 15" mark. Secure the free end of

the moulding at the mark.

Push the center of the moulding flat to the surface. The

moulding should snap into place. Secure with galvanized

screws, 16" on center or less. If the moulding does not

push flat, you need to unfasten one end and resecure the

moulding approximately 1/8" past your 15' mark.

For continuous long runs for moulding.

Install the first piece using the procedure above.

For the second piece, follow steps 1 through 3.

Step 4 (above) anchors the end of the moulding

on your mark. Then apply urethane adhesive to

the end of the first piece, this will adjoin the next

piece of moulding.

Butt the free end of the moulding to your first

piece and follow step 5 to secure in place.

Melton Classics recommends urethane adhesive only to

join urethane parts. Urethane adhesive actually expands

after it comes out of the tube and moves into the foam

cells of the part to form the best adhesion possible.

Standard construction adhesives do not do this and will

not perform as well with urethane products.Fill fastener holes with painters putty, Bondo® or a two-

part plastic wood filler. Make sure to follow the manufac-

turers mixing and application instructions. For moulding

joints where the skin surface was sanded through, use a

skim coat of Bondo® or other two-part plastic filler to re-

establish a smooth paintable surface.

Use any quality latex or oil-base paint. No primer coat is

needed, as our parts are ready to receive a topcoat.

All return products must be approved by a Melton Classics

representative and a return authorization number must be

obtained. All authorized returns are subject to a minimum

30% restocking charge. Melton Classics expects both the

product and packaging to be returned in the same condition

as it was sent and reserves the right to charge extra for

damage to packaging. We will not accept any return of cus-

tom or special fabricated product. In addition, Melton

Classics will not accept any return without an authorization

number and or 30 days after the date of shipment.

Urethane millwork is factory painted with a high emulsion

exterior paint that requires no additional finishing upon

installation.

It is important to store urethane millwork in the tempera-

ture conditions in which it is being installed. If the product

is stored in a trailer and the temperature inside the trailer

is hotter than the temperature outside, the product may

contract after it is removed from the trailer. Remove the

product 24 hours in advance of installation and allow the

product to adjust to the temperature conditions in which it

is being installed. This is a very important step, especially

with mouldings.

Urethane millwork is installed in the same manner as

wood and while the parts themselves will not rot or absorb

moisture the wood behind them will. It is necessary to

flash urethane parts using the same techniques that are

used with wood. Caulk is a temporary solution to protect

against water seepage and expansion and contraction of the

building. The caulk seal may eventually crack allowing water

seepage. We recommend using aluminum or vinyl flashing

material to provide a final solution.

Melton Classics hereby warrants its parts upon thefollowing conditions against defects in materials andworkmanship for a period of one year after delivery toPurchaser when used and installed under normalconditions. THE FOREGOING WARRANTY IS IN LIEUOF AND EXCLUDES ALL OTHER WARRANTIESNOT EXPRESSLY SET FORTH HEREIN. WHETHEREXPRESSED OR IMPLIED BY OPERATION OF LAW OROTHERWISE, INCLUDING BUT NOY LIMITED TO ANYIMPLIED WARRANTIES OR MERCHANTABILITY ORFITNESS. Failure to follow Melton Classics Storage andInstallation Instructions will void this limited warranty.Buyer and installer must inspect each piece beforeinstallation. Buyer and installer waive all defectswhich could have been discovered by reasonableinspection prior to installation. This includes, but isnot limited to, all misalignment, misfitted parts,dimensional discrepancies and the like. In the eventthat any claim is made under this warranty, anauthorized representative of Melton Classics shall havethe right to inspect the parts and if, in his or her solediscretion, said representative determines the part(s)defective, Melton Classics will repair, replace or refundthe amount paid to Melton Classics for said defectiveparts. The sole obligation of Melton Classics under thiswarranty is to REPAIR, REPLACE OR REFUND asdescribed above. Melton Classics SHALL HAVE NOLIABILITY TO ANY PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATIONWHATSOEVER FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUEN-TIAL DAMAGES such as but not limited to labor, fin-ishing cost, parts damaged by freight carriers, freightcharges, installation, lost profits, lost sales or the like.NO PURCHASER MAY TAKE ANY DEDUCTION,CREDIT OR SETOFF AGAINST ANY AMOUNT OWEDMelton Classics OR MAKE ANY CHARGEBACK WITH-OUT EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT OF Melton Classics.
