City AmbassadorsDressed in their distinctive red uniforms, the ambassadors provide a mobile, visitor information service in the central city. Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm and Sundays from noon to 3pm (except Good Friday and Christmas Day).

Explore MelbourneMelbourne Greeter ServiceThe Melbourne Greeter Service is a free, two-four hour orientation of the city with a local volunteer. Orientations in English are conducted daily at 9.30am departing from the Melbourne Visitor Centre. Orientations are also available in other languages. Getting Around Melbourne

The easiest way to get from your ship at Station Pier to the city centre is by tram using a myki card. myki is Melbourne’s ticket to travel on the city’s trains, trams and buses.

Follow these easy steps for a quick tram ride to the centre of Melbourne.

1. Pre-purchase a myki from the Public Transport Victoria counter located in the upper level foyer of the international terminal.

2. Board the Route 109 to Box Hill tram at the stop at the end of the pier. 3. Validate your ticket by touching your myki on one of the green myki

readers on board the tram.

Route 109 travels through Port Melbourne past the Crown Entertainment Complex. It crosses the Yarra River before turning right into Collins Street to take you into the heart of the city.

From the city centre you can connect with many other train, tram, or bus services using the same myki. Don’t forget to touch on and off your myki each time you enter a train station or board a tram or bus.

Returning to Station PierTo return to Station Pier just board any west bound Route 109 tram to Port Melbourne at tram stops along Collins Street. * Passengers in wheelchairs or who have access issues can board the tram easily at the end of the pier as well as various city locations.

Free City Circle TramThe City Circle tram service provides a free and convenient way to get around central Melbourne. The burgundy and gold tram travels past major attractions and shops. See the Melbourne City Map in this guide for details on the City Circle tram route.

PTV Cruise Express Bus A one-way shuttle bus to the city centre operates between 8am and 11.30am, for most cruise ships. This service runs express from the international terminal to Arts Centre Melbourne on St Kilda Road. To board the bus, you must pre-purchase a myki from the Public Transport Victoria counter.

TaxisWhether you want to go to the city centre or nearby St Kilda, Melbourne’s taxis will get you there. Their bright yellow colour makes them easy to spot.Taxi fares vary, so estimate the cost of your trip at taxi.vic.gov.au/fareestimator.

Harbour Town Shopping Centre at Docklands, is Australia’s home of outlet and specialty shopping with over 180 brand direct outlet and specialty stores. DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) South Wharf offers big brands, big bargains and big savings. Chadstone in Melbourne’s south east is the largest shopping centre in the Southern Hemisphere with over 530 stores. For tourists, free 30 minute shuttle bus transfers depart Melbourne’s city centre. Queen Victoria MarketAn historic landmark, and the largest open air market in the Southern Hemisphere is a favourite institution for Melburnians. Café CultureMelburnians are passionate about coffee and you can find an expertly brewed coffee from one of the many great inner-city cafés. Pelligrini’s Espresso Bar on Bourke Street, Brunetti in City Square, Federal Coffee Palace at GPO, or Degraves Street are all great places to get a caffeine fix.For a cosy, bookish café experience settle in at Mr Tulk, on the sunny side of the State Library of Victoria, where they serve great coffee, delicious breakfasts and light meals all day. Multicultural MelbourneFor all the colours, variety and delicious flavours of Asia, take a stroll through Chinatown in Little Bourke Street, where you can savour award winning delicacies at the Flower Drum. There is great yum cha at the Shark Fin Inn and sharp, innovative south-east Asian influenced food at Gingerboy. Gertrude Street Enoteca in Fitzroy serves gorgeous seasonal Italian food, complemented by a staggering selection of European wines.To sample some more of Melbourne’s rich Mediterranean heritage head to the grand Grossi Florentino in Bourke Street or Café Di Stasio in St Kilda. The Great Ocean RoadThe Great Ocean Road winds westwards from the major regional city of Geelong to the South Australian border. One of the most visited stretches of road is the Port Campbell National Park, home to significant areas of native bushland and fauna. The coastline has been sculpted over millions of years to form a series of striking natural features. You can wander the boardwalks and paths at the Twelve Apostles, remarkable limestone rock stacks rising from the ocean, while further along, London Bridge is another amazing rock formation not to be missed.Experiencing the Great Ocean Road requires a minimum of two days/one night. Fitzroy Gardens Just east of the CBD are the Fitzroy Gardens, popular among picnickers, sightseers and photographers - and no wonder. Historic buildings nestle among the trees, belying the fact that a bustling metropolis is only a block away. Here you can escape the hustle and bustle without having to leave the city at all.

Birrarung Marr This is Melbourne remember, so the grace of the bygone era is wonderfully complemented by the contemporary. The latest editions to Melbourne’s garden landscape are Birrarung Marr - a large, open public space adjacent to the Yarra, distinctive for its native planting’s and linear design - and the water sensitive public spaces of the Docklands district - which have the added bonus of being filled with incredible works of urban art.
