Recently, the Commission For Energy Regulation (CER) in ruling in favour

of MEGA stated: -

Mega suggests that hybrid solutions give stability and security of supplyto the network.. Mega believes that island-type local community

electricity systems, with strong black start and export capability, will form

the early movement towards the micro grid/smart grid vision and .

believes that such micro grids might involve elements of all of the

generating types listed in the (CER) consultation document.

Taking account of the views expressed by Mega the Commission accepts

that the potential exists for projects to be clustered together in a

complementary manner.

For the avoidance of doubt the above classes of technologies (including

Experimental/Emerging Technology) are preapproved for processingoutside the GPA. The Commission will consider any hybrid solutions or

technologies as yet unknown in Experimental/Emerging Technology
