Meet the Governors The Governing Body plays a key role in helping ‘Leamore Primary’ to provide the best possible education for all our pupils. The following people make up the Leamore Primary School Governing Body. Mrs Alison Buick (CoChair) Local Authority Governor; appointed July 2014 I have worked in Walsall for three years and joined the Governing Body at Leamore last summer. Prior to this I was a parent governor at another school. My job has varied over the course of my career, but I have worked in and with different educational settings over the last 20 years. Through this I have gained extensive experience of governance, financial and strategic management, staff leadership and the regulatory environment of the education sector. I became a Governor as I firmly believe in the power of education to transform the lives of young people. Mrs Vanessa Holding (CoChair) Coopted Governor; appointed November 2014 I'm born and bred Walsall with long standing family connections to the Leamore area. I have over 30 years Local Government experience working within a performance and information management, business change and strategic planning setting. I wanted to become a governor to use my knowledge and experience to help make a difference. I firmly believe that school life should be amongst the most happiest and fulfilling times of our lives! Mrs Natalie Turner (Vice Chair) Coopted Governor; appointed May 2011 Having worked for The Midcounties Cooperative Society for the last 5 years, based in Walsall, my reason for becoming a School Governor was to support the local community within the Society’s core trading areas. With over 20 years management experience and currently Head of Travel Branches, I enjoy working and leading a diverse and large team, focussed on delivering results. My governor role provides the opportunity to support the school to ensure that every child at Leamore has a safe and caring environment in which to enjoy learning so that they can achieve their full potential. Mrs Michelle Hill (Head Teacher) Governor by Virtue of Office; appointed January 2016. After teaching in Welshpool and Bristol, I became Leamore's Deputy Head Teacher in April 2008 where I immediately became an associate governor. I love working at Leamore; there's something quite magical about it! Since being appointed as Head Teacher in January 2016, I welcome the opportunity to promote the highest standards in learning, teaching, safeguarding and behaviour. I want to ensure that every effort is made for each child to achieve their full potential.

Meet  the  Governors

The  Governing  Body  plays  a  key  role  in  helping  ‘Leamore  Primary’  to  provide  the  best  possible  education  for  all  our  pupils.

The  following  people  make  up  the  Leamore  Primary  School  Governing  Body.

Mrs  Alison  Buick  (Co-‐Chair)  Local  Authority  Governor;  appointed  July  2014

I  have  worked   in  Walsall   for  three  years  and   joined  the  Governing  Body  at  Leamore   last   summer.

Mrs  Vanessa  Holding  (Co-‐Chair)  Co-‐opted  Governor;  appointed  November  2014

I'm   born   and   bred   Walsall   with   long   standing   family   connections   to   the  Leamore  area.

Mrs  Natalie  Turner  (Vice  Chair)  Co-‐opted  Governor;  appointed  May  2011  Having   worked   for   The   Midcounties   Co-‐operative   Society   for   the   last   5  years,  based  in  Walsall,  my  reason  for  becoming  a  School  Governor  was  to  support  the   local  community  within  the  Society’s  core  trading  areas.

Mr  Matt  Stacey  Parent  Governor;  appointed  April  2014

I  have  lived  in  the  Leamore/Bloxwich  area  for  the  last  7  years.  For  the  last  10   years   I   have   been   a   Company   Director.     I   have   two   children   who   are  currently   in  Year  One  at   Leamore  and   I  wanted   to  become  a  Governor   to  play  an  active  role   in  the  running  of  the  school.  As  a  parent  governor,   the  quality   of   the   teaching   and   discipline   are   very   important   to  me;   as   is   the  belief   that   every   child   at   Leamore   should   be   given   the   possibility   to   fulfil  their  own  potential.  I  would  urge  any  other  interested  parents  to  look  into  the  possibility  of  becoming  a  parent  governor  as  it  gives  you  the  chance  to  make  a  positive  difference  to  your  child’s  school.

Mr  Chris  Wilson  Co-‐opted  Governor;  appointed  summer  2001

I  have  lived  and  worked  in  Walsall  for  40  years.  Previously  a  Tax  Inspector;  I  am  now   retired.   I  was   lucky   to  have  had  a  very  good  education  at  a   time  when   few   people   like   me,   from   ordinary   backgrounds,   ended   up   at  University.  I  want  to  do  everything  I  can  to  make  sure  children  at  our  school  have   their   opportunity   to   achieve   what   they   want   to   do   in   the   future.  Education  is  the  key!

Miss  Kathy  O’Connor  (Interim  Assistant  Head  Teacher)  Staff  Governor;  appointed  November  2013

I   joined  Leamore  in  July  of  2013  as  a  newly  qualified  teacher  and  instantly  felt  a  strong  connection  to  the  school.  This  is  because  of  our  fantastic  pupils  who  are  eager  to  learn,  enthusiastic  and  full  of  energy!  I  am  very  proud  to  be  our  Year  Two  Class  Teacher.  I  chose  to  be  a  governor  because  I  want  to  make   a   difference   by   supporting   the   children,   staff,   parents   and   wider  community.

Mrs  Becky  Talbot  Co-‐opted  Governor;  appointed  June  2015

I   have   worked   in   Walsall   with   looked   after   children   and   children   with  special  educational  needs   for  15  years.   I   live   locally  and  have  a  keen  and  vested   interest   in  the  welfare  of  our  children  and  young  people.   I  believe  every  child  has  an  equal  opportunity   to  a  solid,  accessible  education   that  can   be   adapted   and   tailored   to   meet   their   needs.   I   am   excited   to   be  involved  in  a  progressive,  committed  and  enthusiastic  team  to  deliver  the  best  possible  service  to  our  children  and  families.

Mrs  Danielle  Copeland  Parent  Governor;  appointed  January  2016

I   have   two   children   in   the   school   and   I   decided   to   become   a   parent  governor  so  I  could  help,  not  only  my  own  children  but  also  other  children  at  the  school,  as  it  is  a  very  important  part  of  life.  I  also  applied  so  I  could  represent  parents,  their  issues  and  concerns  and  help  the  governing  body  to   make   Leamore   primary   a   school   that   governors,   staff,   pupils   and  parents/carers  can  be  proud  of.  As  the  school  has  now  turned  a  corner  and  started   to   improve,   I   want   to   ensure   this   progress   continues   and   help  restore  the  school's  good  reputation  in  my  role  as  parent  governor.

Mrs  Elizabeth  Green  Parent  Governor;  appointed  June  2015

I   have   two   children   in   the   school   and   care   passionately   about   their  education.   I   hope   I   can  make   a   difference   on   Leamore   Primary   School’s  Governing   Body   and   represent   all   parents   effectively.   Let’s   make   this  school   a   place  where   all   children   and   parents   are   proud   of   the   progress  and  attainment  that  they  achieve.

Mr  Peter  Bruno  Co-‐opted  Governor;  appointed  October  2015

I  am  privileged  to  be  a  governor  here  at  Leamore  Primary  School  and  am  passionate  about  ensuring  that  our  children  have  as  many  opportunities  as  possible  to  realise  their  aspirations  and  have  a  full  and  fruitful  future.  As  an  HR   Advisor   at   the   Midcounties   Co-‐operative   Society   based   in   Walsall,   I  believe   that   in   order   to   deliver   outstanding   education,   we   need  exceptional   colleagues   at   our   school   who   are   supported   by   us   and   one  another  to  do  an  excellent  job  for  our  children.
