continue our legacy of success, we have carefully chosen our incoming freshman class
and we are honored to introduce them to you. This is one of the largest freshmen classes

Anna Argulian
Flood Middle School Anna is the winner of many essay contests including Stratford’s Business Education Support Team’s Best Volunteer Essay Contest, Scope’s National “Dear Future” Essay Contest and Connecticut’s Laws of Life Essay Program.

Charlie Asetta
St Rose of Lima School Charlie was awarded the St Thomas Aquinas award for St Rose of Lima School at Bishop Caggiano's Breakfast of Champions. The award recognizes one student from each diocesan school who has displayed academic excellence and exemplifies the Gospel values. He also received the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence and the Malony Scholarship for Language Arts.

Multicultural Magnet School In the past year alone, Abigail has won the Fairfield University Martin Luther King Essay Contest, the Middle School District Math Competition and the Bridgeport District Young Author’s Competition.

Wooster Middle School Chris received the Principal’s Leadership Award, given to students who exemplify the six pillars of character – respect, citizenship, fairness, trustworthiness, responsibility, and sportsmanship.
Michael Denihan
St Lawrence School Mike received the 2015 St Thomas Aquinas Award for St Lawrence School as well as the 2015 Language Arts Award and President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. He also participated in the Mathcounts team and was awarded a Certificate of Merit for successfully representing St Lawrence School.

John Winthrop School Sarah has received the United States Attorney Certificate of Achievement Award for Most Improved Student in middle school.

Faith Preparatory School Kate finished her year at Faith Prep as the Valedictorian and gave the closing address. She received the Presidential Gold Award for Academic Excellence, as well as an award for outstanding performance as “Hook” in “Peter Pan”.

St Catherine of Siena School Jakob is an Honor student, Scholar Athlete and a member of the Mathematics League where he received a Certificate of Commendation.

Bridge Academy Michael is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and he received special recognition in academics including the Excellence in Social Studies Award.

St Lawrence School This year Dori won the 2

Place Woodman of the World School Speech contest. She has also been a gymnast for 11 years and has played soccer for nine years.

Wooster Middle School Olivia is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She will continue to bring her dedication to academics to her college preparatory courses here at St Joes.

Newtown Middle School Justin has received many academic awards including the Middle School Scholar Award. He was one of the top 25 students receiving the President's Award for Education Excellence in 2015. He also received the Science Award for his Cluster at Newtown Middle School.

nd Place with
his partner at the National History Day Regional Competition for their website creation – Werner Von Braun: Rocketing Into the Space Age. He also received Excellence in Construction Technology and the Spanish Award at his 8

Bryana was the Salutatorian of her Middle School Class. She received several academic awards and certificates including the Principal’s Awards for Highest Achievement. Bryana also received a trophy as the MVP for Varsity Basketball.

Samantha Kane
St Rose of Lima School Sam has received the President's Education Awards Program for Outstanding Academic Achievement in 2015. She was also recognized by the National Charity League with the Tea Rose Award, Sweetheart Rose Philanthropy Award, Taffeta Rose Award and the Yellow Rosebud Award. In addition to her philanthropic service Sam also enjoys Crew, Volley-ball, Tennis, Girl Scouts and the beach.

East Shore Middle School Ally was recognized by her middle school for academic honors and received the Student of the Year Award for Spanish.
Garrett Kalker
Christian Heritage School Garrett was a finalist in the Connecticut Science and Engineering Fair held at Quinnipiac University. His project evaluated the quantity of heat loss which exists through ceiling, wall and floor building constructions to enable the optimized use of insulation. Garrett received a ribbon for 2nd Honors and a medal award for being a finalist in the Applied Technology Category. He also received a medal and monetary award from the Office of Naval Research from the U.S. Navy.

St Lawrence School Gus received the President’s Award for Educational Achievement, St Lawrence Science and Mathematics Awards, Mathcounts chapter Certificate of Merit, including an award from Fairfield University for one course per semester during his senior year of high school. Gus took the SAT’s in January and has qualified for placement in the SIG program at Yale University this summer.
Karl Kelly
St Rose of Lima School Karl is a member of National Junior Honor Society and the Order of the Arrow Boy Scout Honor Society. In 2015 he received the President's Award for Outstanding Academic Achieve-ment and the St Rose of Lima History and Religion Pins for 8th Grade. He has earned 88 hours of community service in 2014-2015. Additionally, he was awarded for five years of service as a Saint John Berchmans Altar Server.

Harborside Middle School Elle is a High Honors student who enjoys cheer, swimming, gymnastics and soccer.
Christopher Rossetti
Seymour Middle School Chris was the Valedictorian of his 8th grade class. He has been a Mensa member since 2012. Chris has played baseball for over eight years and was also the founder of the school’s Frisbee Club.

Hillcrest Middle School Robert is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and received Distinctive Honors in middle school. He was also awarded the All American Scholar Award, Soaring Student in Science Award, the Student of the Year and the President’s Award.

Seymour Middle School Dante was the Valedictorian of his 8th grade class. He has been a Jazz Band member for three years, runs Cross Country and served on his Student Council as Vice President. He was also the Captain of Mathcounts.

rd Honors in the
CT Science Fair at Quinnipiac University and 1
st Place in the
Invention Convention. In addition, Jack is a High Honors student and received the Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei Awards in Boy Scouts.

Flood Middle School Jacob received The President’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Physical Education and Experiencing Music. The Connecticut Association of Schools awarded him for Student Leadership as well.

Wooster Middle School Aiden received the Social Studies Award of Excellence for participation and effort. He also volunteers at the Stratford library.

St Mark School Kristen has received the Pfizer Life Sciences Award, Barnes Aerospace Applied Technologies Award, Talcott Mountain Science Center Founder’s Award and the Alexion Bio-technology Award for her achievements in science.

Madison Yardis
Fairfield Woods Middle School Madison made the honor roll on her report cards in middle school. She will continue to thrive at St Joes.
Carmine Russo
St Vincent de Paul School Carmine graduated with High Honors and achieved straight A’s throughout the entire year. He was recognized for his many years of band participation as a clarinet player and for playing varsity basketball for St Vincent DePaul. He also received a “Foil Method Champion” Award and the “Susan B. Heffernan Scholarship.” He was also recognized for his character and received the following superlatives from his class: most humorous, most dramatic and most likely to succeed.

Molly Villodas
St Rose of Lima School Molly has been a member of the Model United Nations for three years during which she attended four conferences. She received an Honorable Mention at Global Classrooms NYC International Model UN Conference. She received 2

Honors in the CT Science and Engineering Fair this year. Molly also plays the cello and the piano and likes to sing. She has been in several musical theatre productions since the age of six. Molly is also very involved with a charity called Safe Homes.

St Andrew Academy Gabriella has received High Honors awards as well as Computer and Social Studies Achievement Awards and Student of the Month.

Jockey Hollow Middle School Kenny won the Outstanding Boy Award at Jockey Hollow for exemplary citizenship, leadership and scholarship. He also was given two Pin Awards for the highest average in 8th grade for history and health.

Jordan Barros
St Lawrence Middle School Jordan has received many awards for his service to others including The Luise and Champagne Family Award, given to a student who has extended himself in service to others and his community. He is the recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation presented by Mayor Lauretti to Scout Troop19 members who were part of the Shelton Clean Sweep Group 2015.

Newtown Middle School Kyle was a teen counselor at Bible Camp, an altar server and he belongs to a youth group at St Rose of Lima.

Newtown Middle School John has volunteered for community clean-up events and local elementary school fairs. He is looking forward to future service projects and will join the St Joes Football team.

St Mary-St Michael School Christina volunteers her time at a nursing home and as a CCD teacher.

Our Lady of Fatima School Oriana has been recognized by the National Charity League with the Heart of Gold Award and Formation Award. She volunteers at the Senior Center of Fairfield, Girl Zone, Cardinal Sheehan Center, Audobon Society, Operation Hope, and the Norma Pfreim Cancer Center.

Harborside Middle School Kaitlin has volunteered for the Special Olympics for more than six years and looks forward to joining the Special Olympics Service Club at St Joes.

Sierra Clark
Flood Middle School Sierra has volunteered many hours at the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center for a program called Reach Out and Read. She spent time reading to children as young as three.
Emily Fedor
St Mark School Emily was a member of the St Mark Student Service Club where she dedicated her time as a religious education aid. In addition to her service projects, she enjoys participating in Science Fairs. This past year she was a finalist in the CT State Science & Engineering Fair (CSEF). In 2015 she won five awards including; 1st Place CSEF Physical Sciences Award, the Energize CT Sustainable Resources & Practices Award, the Marty Tafel Student Research Award, the Society of Women Engineers Award and the David and Torrey Fenton Award. She also received over $1,000 in monetary awards for her projects. She decided to use her award money to pay for her deposit here at St Joseph High School. She is truly a dedicated scholar.

Thomas Griffin
St Mary School Thomas has been a volunteer at the Glendale Center for five years and an altar server. Thomas also enjoys being involved in the Drama Club and playing soccer and basketball.

St James School Theresa completed a 5-day community outreach mission trip in Rutland, VT this year.

Cathedral Academy Giseberte is looking forward to joining St Joes community ser-vice clubs such as Habitat for Humanity and Missionaries of Charity.

Assumption Catholic School Tracey was a member of the Student Council and National Junior Honor Society in Middle School. Tracey also volunteers as a vacation bible school counselor.

Cesar A. Batalla Middle School Jessica is a member of the talented and gifted program. She spends her free time teaching dance classes for children as young as 4.

Hillcrest Middle School Charlie volunteers gathering food for the Men’s Veteran Place in Bridgeport in his free time. He has also played baseball for eight years.

St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School Zachary enjoys volunteering for the Merton House, supplying sandwiches and he has volunteered during the summer at school, helping to move furniture. He also plays basketball and baseball.

Thomas Hooker Middle School Kayla is involved in a youth group and served as an assistant teacher for CCD. She also loves to sing, play basketball and cheer.

Eagle Hill Academy Southport Nick was an active member of the Student Council at Eagle Hill Southport and ended the year with a trip to New York City to plant a community garden through Youth Service Organization Project. He also played basketball and lacrosse while at Eagle Hill. Nick’s hobbies include: basketball, long boarding, fishing and x-box.

St Rose of Lima School Thomas volunteers as a homework club tutor. He was also a member of the Yearbook Committee and National Junior Honor Society in Middle School.

Shelton Intermediate School Gillian volunteered at St Paul's Church as teen mentor for several years. She graduated with Honors and ran cross country and track at SIS.

St Stephen School Joshua volunteered with the Gianellie Youth Group. He is a scholar athlete and has been recognized for being The All-Time Leading Scorer for Basketball and the Most Valuable Player for St Stephen School. Ania Simoncek
Harborside Middle School Ania received High Honors every trimester in Middle School. Each year, she had a piece of art work selected for display in the City– Wide Art Show. She swims year-round with Amity Re-gional Aquatic Club in Orange. She also volunteers with The Milford Young Women’s Club.

St Jude School Sean is the 2015 recipient of the Maryanne Halpin Community Service Award and the Felix Talamo Music Scholarship. Sean is an avid baseball player and is a pitcher on the AAU CT Grind baseball team. Sean will travel with The Grind to Disney World, Florida to compete at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex for the Grand National Championships.

St Gabriel School William is a goalie for the Southern Stars Bantam ice Hockey Team and received the Whitie Bensen’s Player of the Week Award.

James Evans
All Saints Catholic School Jimmy is a High Honors student and has received awards for academics, athletics and citizenship including: the Norwalk Exchange Club Youth Citizenship Award, the Sr. Catherine Sheehy Scholarship Award, the All Saints Catholic School Sportsmanship Award, and the Sister Sally Norcross School Service Award. Jimmy is the starting pitcher/first baseman on the Clubhouse Rawlings Elite State of Connecticut championship baseball team.

St Catherine of Siena School Leo is an Honor Roll student and has been recognized with the Good Citizenship and Scholar Athlete Awards.
Robert Disibio
Newtown Middle School Robert plays baseball, basketball and soccer. He is a volunteer football coach at Newtown Youth Academy, and Danbury Youth Volunteer Corp. of Western CT. He also volunteers his time at the Pratt Nature Center in New Milford.

Shelton Intermediate School Charlie recently earned rank of Life Scout and attended a Troop trip to Yellowstone National Park. Charlie earned Coaches Award for 2015 SIS Baseball Team. In addition, he received the Student of the Year, Excellence in Language Arts and Citizenship Award at SIS.

Fairfield Woods Middle School Christopher is a mentor for students with special needs. He looks forward to joining the Habitat for Humanity Club at St Joe’s.
Griffin Cross
St Rose of Lima School Griffin Cross lead the St. Rose 8th grade Varsity Basketball team to the league championship. He received the Coaches Award and Sportsmanship Award for St Rose as well as being named the MVP of the championship tournament.

Brian Gannon
St Lawrence School Brian is an Honor Roll student and has been awarded for baseball sportsmanship and football sportsmanship. He is also a bible camp counselor.
Luke Healy
Eagle Hill Academy Southport Luke competed with the Eagle Hill Southport cross country team this spring. He also represented EHS at the EdRev Conference in San Francisco, CA. As a member of Student Council, Luke volunteered to clean a church and it's food pantry in NYC.
Molly McKenna
Harborside Middle School Molly received awards in science, and social studies for her academic achievements. Additionally she has earned the Pop Warner Athletic Scholar Award for the past four years.

St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School Ann was a member of the Student Council, mock trial, yearbook committee, Girl Scouts and the National Junior Honor Society in middle school.

She was recognized by the Shelton Board of Education for her leadership and ability to help provide a welcome atmosphere for all students as Vice President of her Student Council.

St Catherine of Siena School Jennifer was the Student Council President at St. Catherine’s and was the 2015 Graduation Speaker. She received the President’s Education Award and Peter F. Burke Award Scholarship. She was also the Modern Woodmen’s Oratorical Winner. She is a Junior Usher St. Thomas the Apostle Church and volunteers for the Bethel Summer Track Series.

St Theresa School Meghan was the Student Council Co-President in middle school. She enjoys playing basketball and Soccer, she even serves as a soccer referee.

Assumption Catholic School Theresa is an honors student and a member of the National Young Leaders Conference. She plays the clarinet and was the Co-Captain of the Girl’s Varsity Basketball team in middle school.

and is an active member of the Friends of Rachel Club focused on kindness and anti-bullying community building.

St Catherine of Siena School Lily received the Leadership Award, Woodsman Oratorical Speech Award, Tennis Award, and the Yale Rowing Crew Award.

Jockey Hollow Middle School Melissa was a member of Student Council and ROAR (rallying others to act respectfully) in middle school. She also enjoys lacrosse and soccer.

Our Lady of Fatima School Tarryn is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and was a High Honors student in middle school. She received school awards for citizenship, athletics, attendance, friendship and honesty.

Derby Middle School Daphney received the Connecticut Middle Level Scholar Leader Award and High Honors for the entirety of middle school. She was also awarded for her academic achievement in Spanish and was Co-Captain of the Girls’ Basketball team.

Thurgood Marshall Middle School Kyren enjoys playing Pop Warner Football for the Bridgeport Raiders and basketball at the Cardinal Shehan Center.

St Catherine School Chris plays hockey for two travel teams. He is a goalie for the CT Riverhawks and CT Oilers.

St Rose of Lima School Aaron is a High Honors student and a recipient of the President’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence and a Varsity Basketball Honorable Scholar Athlete. Aaron played many sports at St. Rose including basketball, baseball and track and field where he set a new school record for softball throw. Aaron also played King Triton in the school play Little Mermaid.

Ben was Vice President of the Student Council, and played basketball and baseball at Newtown Middle School. Outside of school, Ben plays on travel baseball and basketball teams and was awarded the Sportsmanship Award.

St Mark School Shelby has played basketball for St. Mark Church and the CT Hoopsters. In 2015 her St Mark Church team was named the New England CYO Champions. She is an altar server at St Mark Church, and also teaches religious education to children.

Hillcrest Middle School Shane played with the Trumbull National All-Star and Xplosion Baseball teams. He recently competed in the WWBA World Wood Bat Association Tournament in Emerson GA. Shane’s poem "My Mind" has been published in a book "A Celebration of Poets" and by Creative Communication, a publisher that has been working with schools and teachers in promoting writing for today's young student writers.

Shelton Intermediate School Mike Zannis has competed on a National Level in track and field since he was 10 years old. His recent accomplishments include winning the 2015 AAU Jr. Olympics Northeast Pentathlon Championship. He placed 4th in Shot Put and 5th in High Jump at the 2015 State of CT Middle School Track Championship. Mike was an Honor Roll student and a Captain of the school's track team, which went undefeated in both 2014 and 2015.

Shelton Intermediate School Sarah was honored at a ceremony on behalf of the Shelton Board of Education and the Shelton Art Department for winning the 2014 Annual Shelton Life Art Contest. She was also a student ambassador, she volunteered at vacation bible schools and loves all sports.
