History of the Medical School1367 University of Pécs founded by King Louis the Great

1923 Hungarian Royal Erzsébet University transferred to Pécs

from Bratislava

1948 Named ”University of Sciences of Pécs”

Béla Entz

Was a Kossuth Prizewinning Hungarian anatomist, professor, Member of Parliament, and President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The general assembly of UNESCO decided the year 2012 to be dedicated to honourhis 100th birthday.

Was a pathology and forensic medicine professor, rector of the University of Pécs,corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy. Most of his scientific works are important partsof the fundamental works of the classical pathology in Hungary.

Was a nerve physiologist, professor, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Hisresearch on the functioning of the hippocampus has groundbreaking importance.

Renowned pathologist researcher and instructor, who first described amyloid submicroscopic structure. Ordinary member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
