Old world is the effect that I used on the shots of the

flashback sequences. I used this because it dimmed the

colours of the shot, and slightly brightened and blurred the

shots. I felt this effect gave then a dream-like feel, and made

the flashback sequences seem more effective.

You can also see the tool I

    used to make the flashback

    shots move in slow motion,

    once again adding to the

    authentic and dream-like feel

    of the sequences.

This tool allowed me to mute myshots so that the sound of them

    wouldnt interrupt the track

    music.

The fade in and fade out effects also

contributed to the dream-like feel I

wanted to portray in my flashback

    sequences.

I adjusted the white point to be centered more towards

green, so that the green colours in the backgroundwould stand out more. I also did this because I wanted a

summery feel to my music video, and this helped me

achieve that when I felt the shots looked too gloomy.

    The exposure, brightness,

contrast and saturationlevels also helped me make

    some shots look less gloomy

    in colour.

The precision editor helped me accurately fit the

transitions of shots in with the beat of the music.

This fits in with one of Andrew Goodwin's

conventions that I wanted to include in my product.

The clip trimmer helped me take short snippets of my shots

and filming, to put in my music video. This meant that I could

chose specific parts of my filming to put in my music video.

I usually used transitions to slow down the pace of the transitions, and

to separate the flashback sequences from the other aspects of themusic video. For example, this picture shows part of the ending of my

music video, I have a short fast paced flashback sequence, and towards

the end, much more transitions between shots to slow down the pace

toward the end of the song. This once again fit in with one of Andrew

Goodwin's conventions I was trying to achieve.

Heat wave is the effect I used on the shots where the artist was playing the song. Iwanted to use a different effect for these shots and I wanted the audience to

distinguish between the narrative, and the shots of the artist. I also felt this effect

fitted in well with the indie/acoustic genre of the music video and artist. The effect

also shows the contrasts between the colours in these shots, which I thought looked

    quite effective.

    This shows the

    difference betweenthe shots of the

    artist, with and

    without the Heat

    wave effect. As you

    can see in the

    bottom photo, the

    colours dont stand

    out as well as the

    do with the effect

    on.
