Patchome 3079J CHRISTMAS ENTERTAINMENT AT MEDFORD SCHOOL ENJOYED The annual Christmas entertain- ment of the Medford school last Thursday afternoon , at the Commu- nity hall , wus well attended and greatly enjoyed. The program includ- ed opening songs by the childre n in the first and second grades, an oper- etta, "At the End of the Santa Claus Trail ," and the finale, "Winter Won- derland , '' by the entire school. Following the performance, all children present received boxes of candy and oranges , furnished by the school board. On Friday morn- ing all children had Christmas par- tics in their classrooms and school was dismissed for a two-week holi- dav , classes resuming January 3. The Ladies ' auxiliary of the Med- ford Volunteer Fire Department , Inc., held its annual Christmas party at the firehouse last Thursday night. 1 Nearly all the members were present ,' and after a business meeting, the ladies exchanged small gifts. Later ,] refreshments were served and a sur- ' prise stork shower was given for Mrs. Albert Ellis , who received many lovely gifts. The group decided to' omit the January and February meet- ings , on account of uncertain weather conditions. Sunday afternoon , the Ladies aux- iliary entertained the members of the Fire department and the chil- dren with a Christmas party. There were about fifty people present. Games were played by the children. Dorothy David and Gerard Nolan ,; Robert Hinkel , Dick Holmes, Tommy Tulley, Allan Hahn , Helen Tulley and Lilly Meisner won prizes. Santa Claus appeared and distributed candy ' and gifts among the children. Pic- tures were taken of the group in . front of the ligh ted Christmas tree.; Music was furnished by Thomas Tul-< ley for games and singing. Jones Post , Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Ladies' auxiliary, the Medford Republican club, Medford Taxpayers association, Medford Par- ent-Teacher , association and other groups in the . community, who as- sisted , financially. A surprise bridal shower was given for Miss Margaret Condon of Coram , formerly of Medford , at the home of Mrs. George Zacharkow and Mrs. Roman Kuczynski December 11. The room was decorated with pink and white streamers , miniature umbrellas and bells. Miss Condon was seated under , a large white bell , where she opened her gifts. A buffet supper was served. The annual Christmas entertain-ment of the Medford school lastThursday afternoon, at the Commu-nity hall , wus well attended andgreatly enjoyed. The program includ-ed opening songs by the children inthe first and second grades, an oper-etta, "At the End of the Santa ClausTrail ," and the finale, "Winter Won-derland,'' by the entire school. Costumes were made by the par-ents. Progra m and music wvre di-rected by Miss Irma Riley, music-supervisor, assisted by the schoolfaculty. Scenery was by WilliamO'Brien. Following the performance,all children present received boxesof candy and oranges, furnished bythe school board. On Friday morn-ing all children had Christmas par-tics in their classrooms and schoolwas dismissed for a two-week holi-dav , classes resuming January 3.

The Ladies' auxiliary of the Med-ford Volunteer Fire Department,Inc., held its annual Christmas partyat the firehouse last Thursday night.1Nearly all the members were present,'and after a business meeting, theladies exchanged small gifts. Later ,]refreshments were served and a sur- 'prise stork shower was given forMrs. Albert Ellis , who received manylovely gifts. The group decided to'omit the January and February meet-ings, on account of uncertain weatherconditions.

Sunday afternoon , the Ladies aux-iliary entertained the members ofthe Fire department and the chil-dren with a Christmas party. Therewere about fifty people present.Games were played by the children.Dorothy David and Gerard Nolan,;Robert Hinkel , Dick Holmes, TommyTulley, Allan Hahn , Helen Tulleyand Lilly Meisner won prizes. SantaClaus appeared and distributed candy 'and gifts among the children. Pic-tures were taken of the group in .front of the lighted Christmas tree.;Music was furnished by Thomas Tul-<ley for games and singing. Refresh-ments of cider and doughnuts wereserved by the ladies. Friday night , about 200 young-sters and their parents turned outfor the annual community Christ-mas party at the Veterans hall. Theparty was sponsored by the HenryJ. Jones Post , Veterans of ForeignWars, the Ladies' auxiliary, theMedford Republican club, MedfordTaxpayers association, Medford Par-ent-Teacher , association and othergroups in the . community, who as-sisted , financially. Past CommanderCarl Witigartt acted as master ofceremonies, leading in r the groupsinging of carols. .Presiding at thepiano were Claire Ziegelmair, JoanGautier and Adrienne Bush. The BoyScouts put on a comic skit. SantaClaus appeared add gave, all the chil-dren gifts of candy and fruit. Icecream .was served to the .youngsters:and cake . aigd. coffee fu rnished by theLadies' auxiliary was served to theadults. Everyone present had a veryhappy time. A surprise bridal shower was givenfor Miss Margaret Condon of Coram,formerly of Medford , at the homeof Mrs. George Zacharkow and Mrs.Roman Kuczynski December 11. Theroom was decorated with pink andwhite streamers, miniature umbrellasand bells. Miss Condon was seatedunder , a large white bell , where sheopened her gifts. A buffet supperwas served. S.Army, who is here for the holidayswith his wife.staying at the homeof his parents, Mr. and Mrs. JG.Martinez of Medford avenue, arrivedrecently from Germany where hewas stationed. Pvt. Martinez, whohas been in service for six years willbe discharged early in the year. Heis stationed temporarily in New Jer-sey.
