Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
Camera mounted at the vehicle windshield: the sensor detects different types of lane markings and calculates
the position of the vehicle in reference to the detected markings, activating a buzzer alarm emitted by speaker
in case of vehicle drifting.

LDWS WORKING CONDITIONS
• Speed must be higher than 55 km/h
• Direction indicator is not activated
(as for a voluntary change of lane)
• To allow the driver control over the system, it can be disabled
by a switch on the dashboard.
• After Key-on the system is always active independent of it’s
prior state.

AEBS doesn’t:
• drive the vehicle autonomously
• relieves the driver from his/her responsibility to safely operate the vehicle at any time.
Traffic situations might cause some anomalies in AEBS intervention:

•Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is able to adapt automatically the driving speed and also the distance
from the vehicle in front. With a visual range of 120 meters, the ACC radar measures the distance and
relative speed of preceding vehicle in the same lane.

Comparison with competitors
33
Most of competitors adopt a combined EGR + SCR technology to comply with Euro VI normative. The
recirculated exhaust gas rate is about 20%, very heavy, and therefore a 3-steps regeneration is needed to
clean DPF.
HI-SCR
33
BIL
Sw
eden
Comparison with competitors
34
EGR1 - PASSIVE REGENERATION (above 500°- standard temperature of exhaust gas)
If the conditions (temperature and NOx level) are favorable, which largely depends on the duty cycle of the
vehicle, most of the collected soot in the DPF will burn passively
𝒂(𝑪) + 𝒃(𝑵𝑶𝟐) → 𝒄(𝑪𝑶𝒙) + 𝒅(𝑵𝑶) + 𝒆(𝑵𝟐)
2 - ACTIVE REGENERATION (250°- low temperature of exhaust gas)
Soot level in DPF increases, so fuel/air mixture is injected upstream of the filter box to raise the exhaust gas
and permit DPF regeneration. When DPF is clean, system switches again to passive regeneration. If vehicles
stops during active regeneration a safety distance from muffler of 2 m must be taken in consideration. No
driver intervention is required.
2 m
HI-SCR
34
BIL
Sw
eden
3 - FORCED STATIONARY REGENERATION (below 250°- very low temperature of exhaust gas)
• Soot level is high. Regeneration is
required
• Soot level very high. Regeneration required
immediately.
• Soot filter full (engine power limit -
regenerate now!)
• If warning n°3 is ignored, vehicle must be
taken to workshop
