The WGT series from Liebherr ---

The measuring instruments of the WGT series have four extremely accurate axes, driven by smart and user-friendly software. They meet all accuracy requirements regarding gear manufacturing and comply with VDI guideline VDI/VDE 2612/2613, group 1. In addition to our standard measuring instruments, we also offer individual solutions, for example if you require an extended travel path in the Z-axis, longer tailstocks to mount long shafts, rotary tables adapted to the load capacity, or other specific adaptations.

An automatic probe changing system guarantees uninter-rupted measurement, even of complex workpieces, and also provides optimum user convenience. The extensive software features enable easy measurement of all types of cylindrical gears, bevel gears, worms, worm gears, shafts and gear cutting tools, as well as rotationally sym-metrical parts such as shafts. It is also possible to certify the measuring instrument according to ISO 10360.

Software solution for a range of applications ---

Liebherr’s software has been established on the gear measurement market for 30 years. It has a very simple operating structure, which can be used very flexibly for different measuring tasks. The portfolio now also com-prises the manufacturer neutral GDE interface for the exchange of geometric and measurement data for auto-mated correction of setting data on gear cutting machines (LHOpenConnect).

The Liebherr software LHInspect contains all the important basic functions

– The probe management module for managing probes, including fully automatic probe calibration

– The alignment module to determine the axis position and compensate for clamping errors up to 2 mm

– The gear measuring module for fully automatic measure-ment of involute spur and helical gears (external and internal)

Additional software modules to measure: – Splines and serrations – Form & positional tolerances of rotationally symmetrical parts

– Hobs – Shaper cutters – Shaving cutters – Coupling gears – Worms – Worm wheels – Bevel gears – Broaches – Gear racks – Rotors, cycloids and sprockets

Software modules for: – Calculation of topographic data for straight bevel gears

– Calculation of gear data for unknown gears – Scanning of the tooth root

Making one out of two: chamfer measurement integrated into gear measurement

We have refined our measurement software for gears and combined two steps into one: Chamfer measurement is now integrated into gear measurement. Automated determination of the evalua-tion ranges in the first step ensures process reliability and maximum precision of the measurement results. In addition, the simplified data input and clear representation of chamfer angle, chamfer width, chamfer depth and further results in the measuring protocol ensure usability.

Added value from data using LHOpenConnect ---

We provide comprehensive support in integrating our machine into your production environment. The aim is to transfer production and measurement data with the maximum degree of automation in order to eliminate errors – regardless of the manufacturer of the connected devices – while at the same time maximizing production speed and manufacturing quality.

Possible workflow using GDE1. LHGearTec as a programming system for work

preparation2. Load the workpiece/tool/clamping fixture into

the gear cutting machine and produce it3. Measure the workpiece on the measuring instrument

and store the evaluation by GDE as a PDF4. Transfer measured values to the gear cutting machine:

open and correct (correction values can be automatically suggested)

5. Corrective part and/or statistical process control in series production

When developing state-of-the-art gearboxes, high effi-ciency, low noise emissions and weight reduction with a long service life have the utmost priority.
