LGR’s new “Carbon Dioxide Isotope Analyzer
- Elevated CO2“ provides many features that
researchers need when measuring isotopic
carbon dioxide from samples containing high
levels of CO2 including:

The stable isotope composition of carbonate
mineralshasbeenofinterestfordecades,with
initial research focusing on measurements of
carbonates in the ocean for paleoceanography
applications. Stable isotope studies of
carbonates have also been used extensively
toexploretheroleoffluid-rockreaction
and geosphere-hydrosphere-atmosphere
interactions in the earth and environmental
sciences.Todate,conventionalanalyses
involveacidificationofacarbonatesample
to produce CO2,followedbymeasurements
withIRMS.Whileeffective,IRMSrequiresa
trainedoperator,isexpensive,andcannotbe
performedinthefield.

with high precision in measurement times

portable unit. Due to its inherently fast time
response,theinstrumentprovidesδ13C and
δ18O measurements over a wide range of

The new Analyzer meets all of the needs for
