    Lewis Road Ribbon Cutting

    On-hand to help cut the ribbon to officially open the Lewis RoadKayak Launch site are: Roman Jesien (MCBP); Karmen WalkerBrown (representing Lt. Gov Brown); Rich Hall (Secretary of MDDept.of Planning); Dave Wilson (MCBP), Joe Gill (Department ofNatural Resources), Margaret Pillas (Ocean City Councilwoman),Bud Church (Worcester County Comissioner).

    The Lewis Road Kayak Lauch is a public non-motorized boatramp open to the public from dawn to dusk. The address is 8713Lewis Rd.

    We always have lots of greatvolunteer opportunities

    Coast Day Clean UpSaturday, September 15th is theannual Coast Day Clean up.

    There are two events. Onecleanup is at the AssateagueIsland National Seashore Park

    beginning at 9 am and the otherwill be hosted in Ocean Citybeginning at 10 am.

    The Assateague event usuallylasts until 11 am. Then followingthe cleanup, is the AnnualMaryland Coast Day which islocated at the AssateagueIsland State Park and isscheduled from 11 am to 4 pm.

    The clean up in Ocean City

    begins at 10 am at town hall on3rd street. From there you'llreceive trash bags, latex gloves,tally sheet and of course a teeshirt. This event usually lastsuntil noon, then everyone willmeet at a local restaurant TBAto return tally cards. Participantsare asked to bring their most

    Pam Stansell and the Coastal Stewards once again out didthemselves for the 4th Annual White Clam Open. This yearly clamcollecting competition to raise funds for the MCBP attracted over60 participants!

    13th Annual Triathlon

    Our largest fundraiser is slated

    for Saturday, October 6th andonce again we will needvolunteers!

    Our long standing bike coursecoordinator will be out of townfor this year's event so if wecould get a volunteer to committo this, he will be happy to trainthis person!

    Poker PaddlePandemonium Run

    Sunday, October 14 MCBP, withthe help of Ayers CreekAdventures and Super Fun Eco-Tours will hold a kayak pokerrun to benefit the coastal bays.

    We will need volunteers to helphand out playing cards andrecord numbers at severalstations including Seacrets, 45thStreet Taphouse, Finnegan'sand Fager's Island. We need

    two people at each station.There will be a total of fourstations.

    We will also be raffling off a newkayak at this event. Tickets arecurrently availalbe on line atwww.mdcoastalbays.org!

    MCBP continues to work with Berlin to find constructive ways tosolve the town's flooding problems while improving water qualityin Newport Bay where the stormwater from the municipality endsup. The Coastal Bays' Hudson Branch restoration, West Streetimprovements, and stormwater utility could be major stepstoward stemming the historic town's flooding issues

    MCBP Staff Passes Boating Course

    Thanks to the great instruction of the Ocean City PowerSquadron, MCBP staffers are now proud card holders of theUnited States Power Squardon Sail and Boating Safety course.These courses are offered throughout the year to anyoneinterested in promoting boating safety in the coastal bays.     MCBP is looking for volunteers forthe Friends of Lizard Hill, theAtlantic white cedar restoration sitein Bishopville, MD.

    Currently there is a need to helpweed out a few invasive plantspecies throughout the property.

    This is a great opportunity forstudents looking for community
