A series of limited edition graphic prints by graphic designer Christopher Gibson inspired by classic travel posters from the early 20th century. Printed with fade-resistant pigment inks onto 200gsm matt art paper, these signed giclée prints are available in a variety of sizes and designed to fit standard picture frames.

ABOUT THE DESIGNERI originally studied art at Worthing Art College and typography

at Brighton University and have worked as a graphic designer in

publishing for the past 25 years.

I’ve had a long-standing fascination for vintage travel posters, and

I embarked on my first series of Retroprints in summer 2010 for an

exhibition at the Oxmarket Gallery in Chichester called ‘South of the

Downs’, which featured a few views of Chichester and Portsmouth.

Over the past 10 years the range has expanded to cover local

subjects in West Sussex and Hampshire, but I’ve also created views

of Newcastle, Bath and London, and have also ventured as far afield

as Germany, the US and Spain. The White Horse in West Pallant,

Chichester (illustrated left) was my first print of Chichester.

I hope you enjoy viewing the prints featured on the following pages...

from the ancient Roman City Walls to the 1960s modernism of the festival Theatre, Chichester has lots of fascinating

architecture to inspire this series of prints. It’s also one of the greenest towns in Britain as captured in views of Priory

and Oaklands Park as well as in the tranquil beauty of the Ship Canal.

The South Downs, England’s newest National Park, is formed by a stunning landscape of gently undulating hills,

ancient woodlands, sheep grazed slopes and picturesque villages. I’ve also captured the medieval and Georgian

charm of the market towns Petworth and midhurst in my series of designs.

WORTHING

ARUNDEL

Worthing is a perfect mid-sized seaside resort with a fantastic mix of architectural styles, from curvaceous Georgian

terraces to 1930s Deco gems such as the Connaught Theatre and the Stoke Abbott Court housing development. The

perfect inspiration for retro prints!

Perched on a hill overlooking the River

Arun, the imposing castle at Arundel is a

must see for visitors to Sussex. my prints

feature the castle but also some of the

town’s other beautiful architecture including

the romantic neo-gothic cathedral.

PORTS- mOUTH AND THE SOLENT

There’s no finer example of Georgian town planning than that found in Bath. The uniform terraces and colonnades of

warm stonework provide the inspiration for this collection.

Here are a few examples from my extensive

series of Portsmouth and the Solent

available exclusively from the White Dog

Gallery in Southsea and Lee-on-the-Solent.

These prints come in unlimited editions and

measure 40 x 50cm.
